These were a great tribute to the originals. Amazing handling, performance and technology, all wrapped up in a daily capable, comfortable, beautiful and sexy sounding package. You can be guaranteed they will go down in history and up in value
depends if gas considered upgrade.. from motortrend "Back at the pits we learn that Mizuno's team, using 96 octane gasoline, set a 0-60 time of 2.7 seconds and a quarter-mile sprint of 10.8 seconds."
MT just pulled a 12.7 on the 2013 5.0. Thats with only 8 HP more than 2011-2012 model. Many people that can actually drive are pulling 12.7 or 12.6's and MT pulled a 12.3 with the BOSS.
Just out of curiosity, where's the rev limiter on this? I use shift right before the rev limiter bounce to get as much power from whatever gear I was on. About 500 revs higher than the red line. not all the time of course, doing that doesn't do justice to the engine. but I never liked red lining, seemed so useless in a car that can rev higher, then again I've blown a lot engines in my life.
I've taken a new GS, won by a foot or two. Both stock. The GS uses more displacement, in a lighter car, and with those advantages, it's still down to the drivers on who wins. 50 grand, lighter car, more displacement vs. 30-40 grand, heavier car with four seats, less displacement. It shouldn't even be close by those standards, but it is. This is where I would normally mention the engineering advantages in Ford v8's, and how they play a larger role than simple weight or displacement.
@admiraljimmy the launch control only eorks with the trackey in and all you have to do is hit the cruise control buttons to set your rpms... Theres no cruise control with the trackey in lol
It was motor trend or inside line that said it.Even if the Zl1 had the same power as the 426hp ls3 it would still beat it around the track. It was said in the vid.
That's because the launch control is keeping the power down for traction. With stickier tires and a solid launch, I'msure he could have gotten a better time.
0-60 on the vid was like high 5sec.. this was done on the street and he picked maybe too high of a launch rpm and that road might not been grippy.. just because a car can do 0-60 in under 4sec doesnt mean every driver will be able to do it on every road..
@allrise1970 did u have the traction control on? Everytime i launch my boss all i do is spin... I find myself launching in 2nd more than 1st just due to traction
0-60 4s, 0-100 11s...that handily beats my '11 GT 5.0 6A by .5s and 1s. Of course I can only launch at 2000 rpms because of the stock torque converter, I bet it would be pretty damn close if I had a 4000 stall and 275-295 DRs :D Nice Boss and great driving.
@AllRise1970: I just love the way that DOHC V8 just sings to you as you go through the gears. It just sounds like its supposed to be pushed hard 100% of the time. lol
Fox Mustang with a 521 BBF Solid cam, 1050 Holley, factory cast Iron Heads DOVE. C-4 transmission with a 4500 Stall.. 9.945@ 136 Mph in the 1/4 mile. 6.2 at 109 Mph in the .1/8 mile on 10 inch slicks. No trans brake, Engine weight 720 pounds..
yes and they come standard with things like cigar lighter, and introducing new ls1 cup holders, vinyl seats, my buddy has countless vids of me beating his ls1 trans am with headers, nittos, and no cats and my slow 3v with gears, headers and tune destroys it
What do you mean? Most Vettes are cheaper than the $55k GT500. The only ones more expensive are the current z06, twenty grand more expensive (without options) and the Zr1, twice as expensive, without options.
If if if doesn't work, Chevy knows where it needs to improve the performance of its cars and will put out a Camaro that tops the HP of any Mustang and always outperform it in the overall package, the LSA motor was just the teaser.
How do you set the launch rpm? I know it comes from the factory with that option but how does it work, is there a button you press? Or is it like a tuner that plugs into the obd2 port? Just curious! Beast car bro.
Yeah, coming from the guy who had a GT500 and ended up with a Camaro SS, that doesn't mean much. I'd say me and the GS owner are of equal talent. His gearing is ALOT taller from the factory (my 5.0 came with 3.73's) and he weighs 30 pounds more than me. The weight difference between the 5.0's and the Corvette GS's is not as much as people think. The fact is, the $35k muscle car beat the $50k sports car. Do you think it's just a coincidence that multiple people have beaten GS's in 5.0's?
MotorTrend never said that lol They actually said the Boss is one of the greatest track cars they've ever driven. Randy Pobst they're professional driver actually LOVED it.
im not a ford fan, but i really like this BOSS 302, ford did a great job with this car....chevy need to watch and learn that it aint all about big displacement cause i know this 5.0 will beat the brakes off the camaro SS 6.2
The track key is cool and unlocks a lot of great features but, according to SVTperformance forum members it doesn't actually increase the car's peak HP. I am not knocking it, I own and love Fords. I am just sharing what I have learned from reputable sources.
@dtdeb99 Yeah, traction control was on, but I didn't get any wheel spin. Try launching at a lower rpm. Then again, what do I know. I'm just a village idiot with a fast car.
FWIW, I am a die hard import fan and have owned several MR2's and and FD RX-7 among others. The 5.0 mustang is really something. This car is really seperating the boys from the girls. Any idiot can jump in a 14 second car and run 14.0 1/4 mile times. It actually takes driver skill to run 12's.
He's right. I have a 2010 Camaro SS and sure, it has been proven that the new 5.0 Stang's are a slight bit faster. But that's what happens, Chevy brings in new car with new engines, Ford brings in the next gen Mustang with all new engines. It seems Chevy these days almost ignores the competition in some ways and decides not to do incremental HP/style changes. I quite like what Ford has done with the Mustang and I love the sound of this Boss 302, but exterior wise,I prefer the Camaro a bit more
The GT500 was able to do a faster lap than the zl1 at Laguna Seca, if it had ceramic brakes and equal tires it would ruin a zl1 especially in an endurance race, the GT500 has a trans cooler, diff cooler, engine oil coolers, a radiator for the intercooler and forged internals(along with oil sprayer jets for the pistons) there is no way a zl1 could maintain 10/10ths performance for as long the only thing holding the GT500 back is the cast iron street car brakes and narrow tires simple improvements.
Actually the GT500 and ZL1 both have Brembos. The GT500 is just ALOT faster going into corners. The ZL1 has cast hypereutectic pistons which run significantly hotter than forged pistons and the ZL1 also has a weak-ass cooling system. It can't perform for more than a few short minutes in temps 70 degrees or above before heat soak slows it down closer to the M3's and Mustang GT's and such....or did they conveniently forget to mention that in all of these magazines lol
I would love to know where you lived in the 80's and early 90's. Because the 5.0 mustang was stomping the dog shit out of camaros on every street corner in the entire country during that time. In fact, it was so bad that GM came out with the tuned port injected 350 to try to stop it, all it did was get them close enough to be able to still read the plate on the mustang as they got left behind. Until 96 when Ford went to the 4.6 in the mustangs.
And did you see the engine differences? You can get any car to make a lot of power by putting a monster engine in it. Fords just do it with smaller cubic inches.
i don't mean slow overall i forgot to mention they are slow compared to they're competitors the camaro and the mustang and they're also about 10 g more so yea...
That was irrelevant. He said the standard 5.0 (at least 3 grand under the SS) is faster than it. 3 Grand + standard 5.0 = SS farther back in the rear view mirror.
nice stang, things seems pretty quick, was this the Laguna Seca or not? and honestly everyone talking about a Camaro should shut up because this video is about a Mustang..... and im a GM fan all the way...
he might picked too high a launch rpm.. road might not been grippy.. Plus sounded like he really popped off that clutch which causes extra wheel spin.. watch?v=s5eBwqiqMPU
You pay for what you get.You can use the backseat in the srt8 plus the extra room and looks to.I see mustangs and camaros all the time.I i had a dollor for every time i seen one i could retire.I can pick a srt8 up for 39k a stang or ss is 28-39k depending on options so there all close depending on what you wont.
You must of had normal street tires on it and it was wet or something. Cause I tried to time it myself and it came up 5.4 when the boss has been proven to run 4.0 bone stock.
I love GM brand but god damn, these new Fords are bad ass. Chevy/GM can deffinately learn a thing or two about the smaller displacement engines (I know its about being different for competition) but Ford could also bennifit from the magnetic ride control Chevy came up with.
It my be faster than the ls3 camaro because of the wieght. But against a ls3 vette it is seeing taillights like ford has always been doing. But i will say that they have finally steped up there game and made a great car.I would own this car if it came out before i bought my ss.
Well you are correct but remember that the GT is almost 7 years old now and with how fast technology is advancing, that is a LONG time for car companies to advance there vehicles. For the record I have nothing against GM or any of its cars. And Im NOT a GM fanboy either.
The Roadrunner is just the beginning, FRPP is selling N/A Cobra Jet parts now, Coyotes and Roadrunners can be build to 550-600hp N/A with off the shelf parts for $4-$8K(depending on whether you started with a coyote or roadrunner and go for 550+hp or want 600+hp) as much as 2HP!!! per cubic inch 110-120hp per liter :D on pump gas is what we are talking about here. There is ABSOLUTELY ZERO possibility of doing that with an GM LS or New Hemi ZERO!!! Ford haters can suck it :D
at the time when he bought the Boss 302, it was retailed at $42,000. and an ls3 corvette is 49,000. there's a pretty good difference in their performance. but $75,000 ls3? no. 35,000 boss 302? no.
@Brandon Dowdy are u joking? The ZR1 would kill a gt in anything not to mention its way healer even a Z06 is quicker around track and the gt500 has hp and is fast in a straight but the ZL1 is quicker around Track but seriously know what your saying before u type
I have a very odd question. Why did my S550 Mustang with supposedly 435hp win a roll race against boss 302 which supposedly has 444hp and weighs less? All I had was an axel back exhaust..
These were a great tribute to the originals. Amazing handling, performance and technology, all wrapped up in a daily capable, comfortable, beautiful and sexy sounding package. You can be guaranteed they will go down in history and up in value
I hate the whole " collecters value" thing, just attracts a bunch of douchebags that only care about money.
How did this go from a ford only video to fight about what's better; chevy or ford.
Why does it even fucking matter? Both cars have class.
Sick launch. I like how you can adjust the rpm limit. The boss 302 has got to be the best all around mustang right now.
Yup, still glad I bought a Terminator.
Glad i'm building one.
Haha of course
Wow! Makes me wanna trade in my 2013 5.0 for a 2012 Boss 302.
The exhaust note sounds straight out of the 70's. Awesome.
first gear seemed to take a really long time for some reason. That was like a 5.5 0-60
Long first gears in these cars help with traction.
Yeah 2nd gear pull was far more impressive
depends if gas considered upgrade.. from motortrend "Back at the pits we learn that Mizuno's team, using 96 octane gasoline, set a 0-60 time of 2.7 seconds and a quarter-mile sprint of 10.8 seconds."
Does the launch control on this just hold the RPM at your specified RPM or does it also try to keep wheel spin down too?
God that sound is just.. beautiful.
MT just pulled a 12.7 on the 2013 5.0. Thats with only 8 HP more than 2011-2012 model. Many people that can actually drive are pulling 12.7 or 12.6's and MT pulled a 12.3 with the BOSS.
Did you take down the video of you doing a review on your Boss 302?? That's a great video, was looking to check it out again.
good god that rumble is beastly with the track key...... amazing
0:23

That's because the launch control is keeping the power down for traction. With stickier tires and a solid launch, I'msure he could have gotten a better time.

Is it just me, or should this thing be faster? Torque management might be killing it...sounds awesome though.
@allrise1970 did u have the traction control on? Everytime i launch my boss all i do is spin... I find myself launching in 2nd more than 1st just due to traction
0-60 4s, 0-100 11s...that handily beats my '11 GT 5.0 6A by .5s and 1s. Of course I can only launch at 2000 rpms because of the stock torque converter, I bet it would be pretty damn close if I had a 4000 stall and 275-295 DRs :D Nice Boss and great driving.
hendo337 I got 5.5 to 60 and 12 to 100... maybe my timer is off but he starts the pull and just after 24 second and ends at 36
Altitude and traction plays a huge role
thats because you can get the MyColor option on the V6.
Does The Coyote 5.0 have VVT of some sort?
It seemed like it really started pulling in 1st after 5500rpm. Or was it wheelspin?
@AllRise1970: I just love the way that DOHC V8 just sings to you as you go through the gears. It just sounds like its supposed to be pushed hard 100% of the time. lol

@mysuperliam: lol Where do you think Koenigsegg learned to build there engines from? Ford helped them a lot in that area.
yes and they come standard with things like cigar lighter, and introducing new ls1 cup holders, vinyl seats, my buddy has countless vids of me beating his ls1 trans am with headers, nittos, and no cats and my slow 3v with gears, headers and tune destroys it
Awesome!!! I noticed the display looked more blue. Can you change the color of it? That was my other question
4 seconds from motortrend. Who is comparing a vette to a 302 pretty dumb when a ls3 traps 117 plus while the 302 is only 114 mph trap car stock.
I want a boss so bad, damn that was very quick
What do you mean? Most Vettes are cheaper than the $55k GT500. The only ones more expensive are the current z06, twenty grand more expensive (without options) and the Zr1, twice as expensive, without options.
My buddy shifts his 2012 Gt just below the rev limit. Feels like it wants to puul past it, these engines are way better then the 4.6 3V.
If if if doesn't work, Chevy knows where it needs to improve the performance of its cars and will put out a Camaro that tops the HP of any Mustang and always outperform it in the overall package, the LSA motor was just the teaser.
im a huge fan of the 302 boss, but i have a 08 335i (jb4 tuner chip) and it seems like i can pull to 100 faster than that
How do you set the launch rpm? I know it comes from the factory with that option but how does it work, is there a button you press? Or is it like a tuner that plugs into the obd2 port? Just curious! Beast car bro.

Truly an amazing car.
Why are you shifting so early? The manifold on that thing is on there for the specific purpose of revving higher...
im not a ford fan, but i really like this BOSS 302, ford did a great job with this car....chevy need to watch and learn that it aint all about big displacement cause i know this 5.0 will beat the brakes off the camaro SS 6.2
thank you for bringing common sense into that argument
Good driving/shifting, thank you sir.
The track key is cool and unlocks a lot of great features but, according to SVTperformance forum members it doesn't actually increase the car's peak HP. I am not knocking it, I own and love Fords. I am just sharing what I have learned from reputable sources.

A Boss 302 weighs over 3600 pounds and the Z06 is around 3100 pounds. The SS or ZL1 is much much closer.
I didn't know it was so sophisticated. Thats really cool!
Thanks
What do you mean high pressure oil? You mean high oil pressure?
It's night time, so we have to talk really quiet, and stealthy. lol Sick car dude!
Thank you for showing the rpms!!
That's right sweet of you. Have a nice life.
so what was the 0-60.. hard to tell on video

does anyone know if these gears are shorter compared to a gt500 or a 5.0?
3.73, like the GT Premium package.

God !!!!!!!!!! its Awsome
Unless both are heavily modded all you will be seeing is what the mustang tail lights look like.
i don't mean slow overall i forgot to mention they are slow compared to they're competitors the camaro and the mustang and they're also about 10 g more so yea...
Rip to the tachodometer
the rev on 0:21-0:23 sounded cool, i kept on hearing it lol
That was irrelevant. He said the standard 5.0 (at least 3 grand under the SS) is faster than it. 3 Grand + standard 5.0 = SS farther back in the rear view mirror.
nice stang, things seems pretty quick, was this the Laguna Seca or not? and honestly everyone talking about a Camaro should shut up because this video is about a Mustang..... and im a GM fan all the way...
Would you be interested in uploading some videos of your LT1?
he might picked too high a launch rpm.. road might not been grippy.. Plus sounded like he really popped off that clutch which causes extra wheel spin.. watch?v=s5eBwqiqMPU
well they are different generation cars, the gt came out to fight the zo6 corvette, and after the gt went out, the zr1 came out
What exhaust?
You're right, the grand sport weighing 3318 lbs is a good reason for the LS3 to be better than the coyote 5.0, you win. No more arguing here.
@Jdog147 Nope cant change the color of the display. Thanks for watching man!!
can u count? it was more like 5 seconds
But you can change the color of the display on the 2013's.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like all the guys around here with a 5.0 are also a little nervous. That's defintely what it is, nerves.
You know what the hardest part about being a Camaro fan is?.. Telling your dad that your gay

Why is this video computer generated?
I love GM brand but god damn, these new Fords are bad ass. Chevy/GM can deffinately learn a thing or two about the smaller displacement engines (I know its about being different for competition) but Ford could also bennifit from the magnetic ride control Chevy came up with.
The Boss 302 does 3.9 to 60. . How is that not close to a Vette? . . . Please, I'll wait.
The grand sport is 3318 and a base 5.0 is 3453 fords website.And 3603 is a loaded 5.0.Either way ls3>5.0 at this point.Have a great day.
It my be faster than the ls3 camaro because of the wieght. But against a ls3 vette it is seeing taillights like ford has always been doing. But i will say that they have finally steped up there game and made a great car.I would own this car if it came out before i bought my ss.
this thing can pull
Actually the ZR1 is a $110,000+ car.
Well you are correct but remember that the GT is almost 7 years old now and with how fast technology is advancing, that is a LONG time for car companies to advance there vehicles. For the record I have nothing against GM or any of its cars. And Im NOT a GM fanboy either.
apparently you haven't seen track times for the boss 302
The Roadrunner is just the beginning, FRPP is selling N/A Cobra Jet parts now, Coyotes and Roadrunners can be build to 550-600hp N/A with off the shelf parts for $4-$8K(depending on whether you started with a coyote or roadrunner and go for 550+hp or want 600+hp) as much as 2HP!!! per cubic inch 110-120hp per liter :D on pump gas is what we are talking about here. There is ABSOLUTELY ZERO possibility of doing that with an GM LS or New Hemi ZERO!!! Ford haters can suck it :D
it did 0-60 in 6 seconds and 0-100 in 12.. not as fast as i thought it would be.
BeachSwagProductions forreal though..
BeachSwagProductions Bs it’s not 6 seconds
Even if it was 6 secs in this video....it can hit 60 in 4-4.2
I clocked mid to low4s bro
why is his second gear so short. thats why hes losing power and valuable time bcuz third has to make up for the lack of second
at the time when he bought the Boss 302, it was retailed at $42,000. and an ls3 corvette is 49,000. there's a pretty good difference in their performance. but $75,000 ls3?
Really?! You can change the color options on the 2012 V6...
Camaro v6 - Mustang v6
Camaro SS - Mustang GT/Boss 302
Camaro ZL1 - Shelby GT500
Corvette ZR1/Z06 - Ford GT
Thats it folks and thats the truth!
is that why no body lives in Alaska ?
Gtr doesn't hit 60 in 2.7 seconds out of the box. You have to do some mods to it to get there but its easily achievable in that car.
