    Thank you. I had a leak and was able to take it apart after seeing you do it and all I needed to do was to tighten the nut inside under the blade. Didn't have the right tools you used, but had a large vice grip that could reach small bolt on top and just held outside bottom with hands and/or pliers. Will see how long it works!

    The motor underneath lets off a slight smell and it's a little loud th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCKuMxLnvr6fJd_M4SE-n7trcGj3zEUHq but considering it's size and how hard it works to do the job, it's sort of expected. I assume the smell will go away over time. Overall, I love this cute little blender. The extra cups and lids are great too!

    WUCHYOU TALKIN BOUT WILLIS? Don't sue me, I am not an expert was how he started the video, then he proceeds to give a detailed collegiate level course in the rebuilding, repair, tuning, testing, maintenance schedule, performance upgrades, troubleshooting, torque specs, acceptable lubricants, lubricant levels, gear ratios, chemical vs natural cleaners, blade inspection blade quality, proper blade angles, blade direction, blade sharpening, gaskets, washers, seals, seal direction, air gap, air in the seals. O-rings, shafts, flaps, gap clearance, wear marks, grease distribution, oils, breaking the factory seal, binding, caking, drying, drag, slinging, polishing. then the all-important safety lecture! this is only how to fix a leak, he never studders or misses!! Please change the intro. If he isn't an expert who is?
    Would be a good video if you just accept who you are; a blender expert, you can not hide it. There is no shame in that. I will be looking for your retraction.

    This was very helpful, butI have a black oil that is coming from somewhere, and it gets into my smoothie if I have the glass pitcher at an angle. It drips from the bottom of the glass pitcher. I don't know where it is coming from. I thought it was coming from the base of the blender, but I can't see where it would come from. I even turned the base over to see if the oil would drip out and it didn't. I even turned the blender on upside down to no avail. Please help me if you can. Thanks

    • @fixpro256
      @fixpro256  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      What make and model is your blender? Usually it is just crud that collects at the point where the glass screws into the base. Be sure to wash it out well after each use. Have you tried taking off the base to make sure you get all the crud out? Until you figure it out, hold a folded paper towel near the base while you pour your smoothie so it doesn't drip. Good luck.

    • @fixpro256
      @fixpro256  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Karen Ball-Touray I know what you mean. My B&D leaked pretty soon also. If yours has the crappy thin plastic base that holds the gasket to the bottom of the glass, be sure you don't over-tighten it. If you get it too tight it will ride up on the threads on one side and put uneven pressure on the gasket. I also had problems with the gasket around the shaft. I couldn't find a replacement so I added a very very thin washer next to the existing fiber washer. Good luck

  • @questwings
    @questwings 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    this was helpful for my problem. i do have a question though; what are the washers made of? rubber, plastic, or metal? mine appear to have torn u and worn away, and i now have a rather large gap (leak) between the blade part and the blade housing part.

    • @fixpro256
      @fixpro256  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont know for sure what they are made of. If you lhold one up to a light and look closely, they appear to be made of fiber and resin. So, i call them fiber washers. Maybe one of my other viewers will read this and let us all know.

    cpc 300 BLENDER The blade assembly is frozen. I can not seem to get it apart. I have replaced the gasket and no leaks but the blade assembly just froze. what causes this and I can not counter clockwise loosen the blade assembly does that have to do with it being frozen? Suggestion instead of your oil how about virgin or sunflower oil, just saying. Will appreciate any suggestions

    • @fixpro256
      @fixpro256  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not all blade assemblies can be disassembled. Some are welded or pressed together. Can you see any threads? Some turn clockwise to loosen (reverse threads). Be sure to use a thick rag or pliers so you don't cut yourself. Just about any food oil should work fine. It may not last as long as petroleum oil, but will taste better ;-)

    Hi how to tighten the rubber ring of the grinder at home?

    • @fixpro256
      @fixpro256  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are talking about the "v" ring I show in the video, I have never found a source for a replacement part. You have to use very thin washers to shim the "V" ring away from the blades. If that "V" ring is cracked, you can try using a couple of O rings to replace it, but I have not tried that myself. Good luck.

    Can my blender be leaking from the blade section, because my is quite loose?

    • @fixpro256
      @fixpro256  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. You should be able to fill it about 1/2 full with water and see it running out of the bottom near the shaft. The shaft seal may be bad, or it could be a piece of trash stuck in the shaft seal. They don't make these things to last very long. The seal will be able to work with a little slack in the shaft. Once the shaft wears too much, the seal will start to leak intermittently. Eventually it'll leak all the time. Most have some parts that aren't stainless-steel. Most are made so you can't take them apart to clean and lubricate the shaft either. Once it starts to leak too bad, all you can do is order a new blade, or replace the entire blender.

I finally trimmed some of the excess material off and sanded it down until it fit. Tried one in the store a few years later and it was the same way. Not sure if that will help you with your Hamilton Beach.

      One would think only no-names are badly designed and built, but...
      I saw a Philips ProBlend (the one with crappy plastic container); the knife axle seal was gone so it must have leaked a lot, and the fluid level got past the motor axle fencing. The sugars in the juice built up in time and it led to the motor being slowed down and heating up the plastic, which stuck its rotor.
      Now, I fixed the motor, but for the life of me I cannot unscrew the knife... which makes me wonder if the thing could mill grains and stuff instead of fluids :D

    • @fixpro256
      @fixpro256  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +soupflood That is not a bad idea. Keep your old leaky blender to use for dryer jobs and use a new one for the wet stuff. Thanks for the good idea.
      A lot of the blade assemblies are put together permanently forcing you to replace them instead of fixing them. Manufacturers should be shot for this kind of crap! ;-)

Your comments at the beginning about "this is tight and you maybe never took it apart"... that initial band you take off the bottom and separating the ring, blades and seal is essential after every use. Yes, disassembly of the blade housing and so forth is beyond a daily cleaning, but you discover the real reasons for your leak issue when you say "it was probably a build up of crud!" NO SHIT!!!
