Agreed with your approach. If you’re planning on doing the out-and-back I think finishing the ride with the Lutsen to Tofte hits will be the most rewarding (if you still have the energy for it). It’s fun either way but yeah, you can get gassed out there pretty hard. Super excited for more North Shore trails to pop up.
Great video! I agree with your directional assessment. I think Jackpot is just scratching the surface for what is possible on the North Shore in that area near Lutsen. The geography there has CRAZY levels of potential that rival Duluth easily. Especially with so much of it being protected National Forest it can be more easily worked in for recreational purposes.
Was told about these trails while biking in Thunder Bay, will be planning to hit these next year and I can not wait. Thanks for this video. Will be posting my Vid too when I can
Thanks for the anonymous shout out! I think you still got the full trail experience even though you didn’t take my “Dialed in” recommendation 😂 to start at Tofte for your out and back.. As far as the out and back goes; The main advantage to start in Tofte is that the bridge represents an epic halfway point to relax, rehydrate and feast while you take in the scenery. If you go the other way (Lutsen-Tofte-and back) the parking lot is the halfway point and I feel it just wouldn’t be as ideal of an experience. But honestly people if you can’t do an out and back here you could have a blast starting from Tofte, bike in until half your water is gone and then bike back, save your gas.. Sweet picture/color, the green really popped with that Hero dirt!
Sick footage! I'm planning on hitting this trail on the weekend from Lutsen to Tofte, but wasn't sure on the hike-a-bike back to your car... Is there just a normal road to ride back on? Do you recommend parking at Tofte, bike to Lutsen via roadway, then hit the trail back to your car?
Ideally you get someone to drop you off at either end. If you're on your own, and you only want to go one way, you can take the Gitchi-Gumi Trail, which is paved, back to either end, though you'd have to do considerable climbing up the road to either trailhead, again either way.
@@OCNcheffy Sure! You might want to start from Tofte, grab lunch at Lutsen (there is a restaurant at the Caribou Highland Lodge, and there may be others) then head back to Tofte.
JP is 9 miles, HC is 5 miles so 28 miles if you do the full out and back. However, if you start in Tofte you also gotta ride about 2 miles of the Briton Peak trail system (which is actually a pretty cool little trail system in its own right) just to hit JP. I totaled approximately 32 miles when I did the full out-and-back from Tofte my first time. It definitely beat my ass.
This looks awesome! Wide, flowy, and beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

It's quite the ride and it would be fun to have some kind of shuttle system in place. Can't wait to see this place grow and they need a bike park lol

Awesome! Cheers for more exciting and incredible adventures! 🥂❤️✨
From my memory, starting from Lutsen starts you off with some pretty intense climbing, but it gets much more flowy after that.
Yes the initial climb is tough, but after that way more flow!

You are making me want to move there! Would one be better served on a short or long travel bike on this trail? What are you riding? Thanks

@@politan83 Thanks! Sounds like I'd just have more fun hitting the trail once more back to the car.

Yeah it was around the 28 to 30 mile mark. Pretty long day but worth it!
