- A few days fishing and exploring Cooktown, one of the best fishing destinations in Australia!
This was our first time fishing out of Cooktown, and it didn't disappoint... so many different species of fish caught just a stones throw from the boat ramp.
Great fun getting Back 2 Basic with a Catch & Cook in the bush and a spectacular waterfall to cool off at.

That was absolutely brilliant. The isolation and tranquility with such beauty of the bush, water and sea. If I had the opportunity to go into Covid isolation that’s where I’d want to be.
That waterfall is gorgeous.

Got a sooty about the size you cooked at Archer River this year (2021). Glad you tried it, i released mine - too fat and healthy! Next time we go up, definitely taking the boat to do the estuaries etc! Saw a stonker saragtoga at the falls 2 years ago when i went there, magic place hey! great footage!

@@BacktoBasics you guys are doing a lot to educate the public on eating fish other than the classic trout and red emporer - it’s great! Our oceans are so plentiful if we learn better cooking techniques and spread the load then we should be able to always get a feed and our grandkids too. Keep up the great work!
Great video guys. I used to live in Cooktown. Seeing the old endeavour brought back a lot of memories. What was better, the fingermark or the jack?

Cheers mate! Gun is for pigs mate, definitely a chance of rogue Croc up there but we try not put ourselves in position that a gun is needed for them.

Yer it’s great mate, can fish the freshwater streams for Brown and Raindow Trout or saltwater for Giant Trevally. Pretty spoilt here
