    Thank you so much for this. Not much info on the fitech due to it being new. My problem is I bought all my stuff early in my build and it's out if warranty by the time I get dome with my build and 3 things have changed since I purchased it new which has caused me to have to pay for updated things when troubleshooting. Very frustrating and something still isn't right and I bet you hit the nail on the head thank you so much for taking the time to post.

    It amazes me how many people put HNBR O- rings in fueling applications instead of Viton! Thank you for your update. Looks like I know what parts I will be replacing BEFORE I even put this on my ‘72 Chevy truck’s 402. I was hesitant at first buying this after my first go around with a Megasquirt that I built from scratch when they were still in their infancy as a company. It worked good but I wanted to step it up so I went with EZ-EFI which was just a POS. I’m back to a Sean Murphy stage two Quadrajet for now. I just like the simplicity factor.I sure miss the easy accessibility of parts when I was there in Southern California but now since I’m out in the heart of Texas it’s not as easy to say the least. Good luck with your endeavors as I watch faithfully!

      I was going to get a Fiteck system BUT for the same reasons issues you guys speak of I will be going to howellefi.com BECAUSE the owner designer was a engineer @ GM during the TBI days and he designed his systems using off the shelf GM proven designs, plus I LOVE the fact it is plug & play, no need to add of change stuff on a touch pad, mount is and pretty much forget about it.

      Yep, definitely want Viton with oil and fuel. Thanks for being a regular watcher. Makes me feel like I'm helping people.

    Excellent info - the exact reason, i used a BMW block off, and have a Holley Reg feeding into the throttle body now. Best way to go if you want to bypass FiTechs rubbish. The Bosch replacement should be hassle free for years!

    I like how fi tech parts are pretty easy to change and use AC delco parts. If you’re going on a long trip with your fi tech unit just bring spare parts.

    Maybe a dumb question…. My fitech does not have a vacuum line to the pressure regulator. Is it supposed too? Is so where does it run?

    • @mechtrician1
      @mechtrician1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s not all that critical to have it hooked up. It just lowers the fuel pressure under higher vacuum. I believe the power adder units won’t have it connected because the vacuum reference is incorrect.
      If you do hook it up, it plugs into the manifold vacuum port on the back of the unit.

    Good info in the video. I have a question on you combo. I see you are running ls coils on a sbc. Id like to do the same on my sbf along with my fitech 600pa unit. I'm curious what your ig ignition setup is. Thanks man.

      It’s an MSD DIS system and yes they do have it available for the SBF.

    Is the silver part before the pressure gauge a check valve or fuel filter?

    Hello sir just put the FiTech EFI on a 72 dodge 360 was running really good until me messed up and ran out of fuel. We get 45psi at ideal and then the pressure drops and we get a lot of bogging when trying to run now, any advice to help us out please

    • @mechtrician1
      @mechtrician1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you ran out of fuel, a lot of times what happens is the tank sediment gets caught in the filters and pump. Check and make sure nothing is clogged.

    Hello, the problem I am seeing on my fitech is the pressure drops to zero after prime and after I start the engine it builds up pressure then drops to zero then the engine stalls. Would this be a fix for it? Thank you for this video and your help.

    • @mechtrician1
      @mechtrician1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Normal for it to drop to zero after prime when the pump shuts off. But once it’s started the pump should keep running. Sounds like your pump is turning off for some reason. Could be a lot of things. Start by checking if the pump is losing power when it stalls.

      Will this fit on a 400hp???
      Or is a different pressure regulator?

  • @chrislopez6185
    @chrislopez6185 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Will your pressure fluctuate while driving or should it maintain constant. Wot pressure drops about 5 psi and after a drive it was idling at 40psi instead of 43. I do not run a vacuum line to the regulator.

    • @mechtrician1
      @mechtrician1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without a vacuum line, it should be relatively constant, but 5 psi drop at WOT isn’t horrible. If your PWM isn’t maxed out already, you can turn it up. Could be a sign of a fuel pump issue but that’s not necessary so.

    Question. Ive been having fuel issues to the point it's getting way to much fuel. I put an inline regulator on it and it has about 60 psi of fuel pressure when idling but when i accelerate the gauge is going all the way up to 14 psi. Called fitech they cant figure it out without a data log. Its not maintaining the same fuel pressure or going down. Only goes up? Any ideas?

    Every time I start my car after a day or two fuel comes out from the bottom of the regulator. can I also be a bad regulator?

    • @mechtrician1
      @mechtrician1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. There shouldn’t be any fuel coming out of the vacuum port ever.

    what fittings did you use for the fuel pressure gauge

    • @mechtrician1
      @mechtrician1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Electronic or analog? I have both.
      The Fitech inlets are 9/16-24. I adapted from there using -6an and 1/8” npt.

  • @kevinkeeney3295

    Question for you. I'm having the opposite problem. It idles at like 60 psi. But when I give it gas it runs up to 120 psi on my inline regulator. Called fi tech adjusted fuel on the computer and they don't no what it's running so rich. I absolutely cannot get my fuel pressure to go down as I accelerate. Any ideas would be great

    • @mechtrician1
      @mechtrician1  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevinkeeney3295 nope you’re good. Should be 60 all the time. If you have the vacuum line hooked up it will be a little lower at idle/high vacuum, but otherwise should always be 60ish.
