Great video. As a german I always wondered why Bonn was chosen as capital. But a small mistake I noticed is that on 2:43 you marked Bonn wrong on the map :)

One reason why Bonn was West Germany's capital was because of geographic centrality. The same reason for East Berlin as East Germany's capital. Although Bonn is in NRW, the state capital of NRW is Düsseldorf.
That was such a great video. I just asked myself this exact question since I knew that Frankfurt was basically already set and done to be the capital as the major already had planed a new parliament building and was shocked at Bonn becoming the substitute capital but I never really knew why. Really good video, short and informative! Definitely gained a subscriber with this one! Keep the great work up.
Rumour had it that Adenauer also favoured Bonn as it was close to his summer residence... 😉 Either way... wasn't much of a capital. More like a world-class village with a barely adequate infrastructure.

Yeah yeah map with the flags didn't have any cities marked so I had to kind of aim close and hope for the best. But thabk you I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you for this information. I also have wandered why west Germans didn't choose Frankfurt for capital. But now I understand the reason.
