Love the new format and seeing what it’s like to ride around other cities. We take our bikes with us up the coast in CA to ride and out to AZ, NV and UT. Some of our fondest memories are out and about in new areas. Rode all around Palm Springs a few months ago and had a flat there and the bike shop came to the rescue to help us. There is such an amazing community out there and everyone loves our R&M bikes and people always have questions about them.
Having grown up in Detroit, and after living in Grand Rapids for 9 years, I was surprised by the Lansing River Trail when I started riding it on my DIY ebike in 2020. It connects my home in Holt (Delhi Charter Township) all the way to MSU campus and the state Capitol and Old Town and even beyond that. On the way are several great parks & wooded areas, the zoo, and a turnoff to REO town and Moore's riverfront park near the governor's mansion. I've thought about doing ebike tours, but I have enough trouble just maintaining ebikes for me and my wife and a spare or two to ride with friends & family.
@@Nphen In college, I lived in an apartment that is near the trail. It wasn't there back then and I wished it was. I love riding there in the summer with my family. The flooding 2 years ago and 96 construction shutting chunks of it down this year were frustrating. I can't wait until it's completed.
I would love to see your channel format include (but not only be) bike-oriented city visits. And while I don’t love sponsorships, if you were able to highlight (and be sponsored by?) local businesses like hotels or restaurants that are very welcoming to bikes, that seems like a win-win situation.
Check out how City Nerd gets sponsors who share urbanism interests to visit their cities. Bike communities may be sponsors for you in some key cities, Minneapolis or Portland...
This idea sounds like it has great potential. Maybe tie it in with Bloom and go from one city to another visiting different manufacturers in the ebike space? Do a tour around the city with whatever bike you want to highlight and/or another bike that showcases that manufacturer's product?
Hi Chris, here's a suggestion for a place to visit and film, we have just spent a week in Lyon, France, It's a vibrant bicycle friendly city with so many great places to see, enjoy a coffee and eat really amazing food! So many cargo bikes with mums carrying children, delivery firms and couriers. One stand out for me was someone nearby parked their Brompton on the street bike rack with a cable lock every night and it was still there in the morning, sadly in England it would be gone in an instant!
My ebike days are sadly over. Broke my left shoulder & cracked my left hip socket two weeks ago being dumped as the front fat tire slowly went off the sidewalk to the right. Being 4" wide it tilts to the right as you go off the edge of the sidewalk, causing the top heavy bike (88 lbs) to tilt over. I was barely moving, only going 2-3 mph on the Riverwalk, as someone was coming from the other direction when it occurred. It slammed me down hard & these 70 yr old bones couldn't withstand the fall... Oddly it occurred on my ebike's two year anniversary.
Bicycle/tricycle touring with local Administrations could become HUGELY desired co-operation! Tourism and bicycling combined IS the future's MOST LIKELY hobby/vacation occurrence! Even if greatest depression ever likely occurs, or WWIII were to (likely) occur. Additionally: IF, likely above outcome/s occur, your potential desire to own a dream cargo bike/trike will be in HUGE, as above purchasable shortages will become extremely unlikely to obtain!!! Think/plan ahead!!!
Bike safety and infrastructure. There are so many directions you could go. When you talk about something different, those are always interesting. What ever happened with unused railroads being converted to bikeways? I do watch some of the front loading cargo bike reviews, but generally I don't watch bike reviews much. The video on new e-bike technology from Bosch was good.
BikePortland would probably have some good hookups / suggestions for a Portland OR bike tour! Absolutely incredible bicycle culture here, lots of weird / old bikes and a culture of creativity or longevity with them. I don’t see too many big bucket cargo e-bikes yet, but I’ve been seeing more and more! I commute 14 mi a day on my Trek Allant+ and have dedicated bike lanes or separated bike paths 90% of the time, and when I don’t it’s on a city “greenway” with lowered speed limits and bicycle priority.
I’ll definitely plan on it! I wish the train was running there. Sounds like we’re a couple years off from that, but I’ll definitely plan to make it out there and nonetheless.
I definitely plan on going beyond the US. Some of my best yours were outside the US and I definitely need to get into Canada. I look at it everyday from Detroit so it feels like it's calling me.
I want to see more products like the R&M Superdelight 5 Pinion. There must be a bevy of similar products coming out. A video of similar cheaper products would be welcome.
definitely looking forward to digging into that one! I’ll keep an eye out for some others as well and try to continue to bring those types of product highlights
I would like to see a lot of unusual town visited that people don't think of like Spokane, eureka or Pittsburgh. they are not the most hip cities but they are very nice.
I want to hear stories from different people in different cities how electric bikes are changing their livea and level of happiness. I want to see bike revolution to happen in American cities same way it is happening in Europe now.
Here in toronto the Ontario government wants to remove all the bike lanes remove!!! All that progress gone!!! So sad! Times like this u wish jane jacobs was still here.
If you ever wanna ride around metro Detroit (Southfield, oak park, royal oak, Ferndale, etc…) hmu! I feel like we’re finally starting to make some progress in our bikeability.
I noticed you had a Moustache e-bike in one of your clips. Are you carrying them now, or are you able to order them? I've been looking into trying to get a Lundi 20 Cargo 5 into the US, but not having much luck.
yeah, unfortunately, the distributor in Canada hasn’t been too keen on shipping into the US and currently there isn't a distributor here. This is definitely something Bloom could support mustache with, but we haven’t made too much progress just yet on that front.
Iived in Philly for a year but didn't film much there. I have noted my thoughts in the past though. I think it shows promise but drivers are pretty aggressive there and there are a lot of gaps. I'll definitely try to do a tour there to give some more awareness to the current infrastructure and opportunities for improvement from my small voice.
@TheRickurb i do want to be clear all working on improving the infrastructure should be proud of the progress. It's clearly a challenge to overcome and I see anyone working on this to be really doing God's work.
I love the idea of you touring a city. Please don't do it like other channels and only ride in the city core. Folks need to see how biking is just outside of the inner cities. Portland for example is a nice ride if your commuting downtown but if you live in SE Portland or NE Portland it's riding hell. If you're going to show the inner city also show where people actually live and have to deal with things like no bike lane.
Yes, definitely would like bike tours in different cities!
I second that 🙋♂
Me too
thanks! Message heard loud and clear!
Exciting time for those of us intrigued by all the innovations and new brands of ebikes!
For sure!

Chris, I love the bike tours. I think there are some more gems you should check out in Michigan.
