HondaJet 2600 - the new Japanese concept

- In the fall of 2021, at the NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas, the Honda Aircraft Company unveiled the HondaJet 2600 concept.
This aircraft is Honda Aircraft's vision of how they can enter the light business jet market in a segment slightly larger than the original HondaJet.
The aircraft, competing in size and weight with such planes as the PC-24, Citation CJ4 and Phenom 300, should significantly surpass them in range and become a more versatile machine, even claiming a part of the mid-sized aircraft segment.
However, for now, all these possibilities are just speculation and it is not yet clear what stage Honda is currently at with their new aircraft. If they can create such an airplane, it will be cool.

Very interesting. There might be a growing market for highly efficient light business jets in the near future. Even for those who don't care about such topics today.
This year I bought my first Honda: a 6seats 80 k miles 2010 Freed, Wish my next one is the 6 seats aircraft.

Wow! Back in 1966 when I had a Honda CT-55 Trail 55 bike, I never would have thought that one day the company would be building state of the art executive jet aircraft!
After they made Honda NSR 500 I believed they could do anything lol
When Honda won F1 during 1960s I believe Honda could do anything with engine.

Mitsubishi industry former manufacture of war planes used to provide Turbo for Mitsubishi Motor Rally team. and they did really good job.
I just like how Honda is incrementally getting better from very small motor bike manufacture, starting to build mini cars and winning formula one and started to manufacture proper sedan and now Honda manufacturing airplanes and upgrading its sizes.

From mini-trail 50s + seventies 2 Small Business Jet and executive business Jets that's quite a leap I'm waiting for the Super Sport version it will probably handle as well as a 954rr which is to say phenomenal and a lot of fun to fly.
I have been following This Aircraft ever since it was introduced lovely Aircraft And Honda's have very good Air Conditionings in them and its very Fast for a small Aircraft.
2600 nm.. bet you , if they add another 60 gallons of fuel (the luggage hold shrinking) and remove 1 passenger slot all together.. you could get better then 3000 nm. This would be a game changer .. a possible jump across the pond and in to Europe.. with a light bizjet.. Honda would have orders out the back side for decades.
I'll buy this when they make the Type R.

The Japanese are number one at refinement and perfection. Look how they made American car manufacturers shape up in the 90’s. From 1973 till then American cars were crap. Thanks Honda and Toyota.
American carmakers still haven't caught up, but they didn't even get into the same ballpark until the 2000s. American cars were inferior copies of Japanese cars right through from the 1980s to the 1990s. A Chevy Cavalier is in no way anywhere near as good as a Toyota Camry. The best, like the Neon, were still no real match. But yes, other than that your point is valid.
Hello Skyships. A look into the future or a look at Japanese aviation? If the latter, I'd love to watch you do a film on the Mitsubishi MU-2. I've just always thought that was such an original plane. Many, many thanks for continuing with the lbs thrust figures.
Yeah, I like the MU-2. Serious hot-rod, sharp looking too. And cool all the military and civil versions, SAR versions with and without radar, etc. I think the US-1A flying boat is pretty sick too, wonderfully ugly yet super capable in its niche. Japanese aviation in general is a fascinating subject, and relatively unknown in the west.
Honda designs, builds, maintains the jets and trains the pilots. They are software away from starting a corporate jet airline.
Demand outstrips production capacity for the Hondajet. This is obviously to compete with larger business jets, but I am betting they’d be better served (financially) by focusing on maximizing profits of the existing Hondajet with the current model and variants to serve different demands.

WOW didnt know about this.. but only makes sense. Honda can make a real killing with this one, as the Honda Jet itself is already stupendously impressive. But i like that theyve kept things hush hush, Im sure the standing market place will quake at the knees with this news.

I'd love to fly one. No I don't know how nor am I a millionaire. The cockpit windows look lovely and I wonder if the flight controls are designed as they are with the expectation the plane will be flown by the owner, rather than or as well as a professional crew.

Honda will make it, as it really really makes sense. Not only that, its achieves its range far more efficiently than much higher costing jets. It also comes with a degree of prestige. people will know Honda is not playing around ,it will deliver on promises. And it has an example already in active service. The original Honda Jet. Its a multi class disrupter to say the least.
They didn’t reveal the price tag, nor the year for launching this stretched bird, it means this was just a spoiler to see the market reaction. They are not promising nothing new in terms of technology and fuel efficiency in comparison with the jets already flying safe in the skies.
@Benedito Venturoso I mean if you look at the Honda Jet Elite 2 and its competitors, for its size its gets better fuel economy while flying faster and that seems to be a trend with Honda whenever they release a jet in a certain category

How are the engines? Are they going to be supported and replaceable or are they like the citation where once the engines are nearing end of life they are obsolete and parts are unavailable?
To make this business profitable , Honda needs to increase its production capacity.
they did. The last HondaJet started out at a tiny production, and ended up with a fairly large facility once demand was established. They can do the same with this. The last thing they want is to invest billions in a big factory able to pump out hundreds of jets, and then discover the market won't bear so many. Competition is fierce. Aircraft makers won't build a factory until demand is almost certain either, but at least when they do they can often utilize the space to build a different product if the expected one fails to sell. Honda only has these two jets, and have no other use for a large state-of-the-art aircraft production facility. It would be dead loss.

The HondaJet chose to place its engines on the upper surface of the wings, an aerodynamic configuration that would normally be considered a failure.
The HondaJet succeeded by finding the sweet spot for the optimal placement and demonstrating an originality that can be described as miraculous.
However, the sweet spot is extremely delicate, and the slightest deviation in geometric dimensions can cause the aircraft to collapse.
Therefore, the HondaJet was not expected to take the approach of creating variations by stretching the fuselage or extending the outer wings, as is often done with business jets.

Okay. But they work perfectly well and offer many advantages. Planes are not built just to look cool, they are built to work. I doubt Honda cares much what you think anyway, unless you got a few million burning a hole in your pocket and are in the market for a new bizjet.

Which at FL400 is approximately 435knots, which given some deviation from ISA could result in 450KTAS so seems like a fair claim.
