Extraordinarily well done and informative. Just the right amount of tech and infographics without dumbing it down or making it inaccessible to non-engineers. Not an easy feat when it comes to explaining technology. Well done.
I read the white paper on the Honda jet's engine mounts, honestly was really interesting for me as an engineering student at the time. Also I think reading that changed my opinion on 'reinventing the wheel'. Turns out, in a specialized enough focus, you are better off reinventing the wheel instead of trying to shove a less efficient existing solution into your very niche design.
Yeah, that's what Elon Musk said when he reflected on Tesla's first electric car. It would've been better to reinvent electric cars than to make a car (Lotus) change from gas to electric.
@@KarlenBell Sadly the application of that notion with the Cybertruck appears to have been a monumental failure. Hopefully they will be able to come up with a 2.0 version with some better ideas.
that was a great presentation, so clear and concise. Great articulation, pace, and depiction of the aeronautical and engineering concepts. Long live Honda!
I have always had a soft spot for Hondas. The younger version of myself got into motorcycles. My first “bike” was a 50cc “Bridgestone”, but then came the Hondas, a 305 scrambler and a CB350. While my friends worked on their British bikes all the time and cleaned up the oil drippings, I was generally enjoying a ride with a young lady. The one that would become my wife of 50+ years was a frequent passenger on the 350. Work and life’s demands took me away from biking for several decades (then the Harley arrived - until the MDs took that away). However along the way we discovered the quality and reliability of Honda cars. The Frau has had two Accords and I have had an insight and a CR-V. While I must admit they certainly are not a fun to drive as the Corvette I once had, nor as gorgeous and sexy as my new toy - an SLK roadster - the Hondas sure are reliable. All 4 Hondas combined were in the shop for non- scheduled service repairs less that a single Ford Escape I foolishly purchased, and even less that the SLK, and are certainly far less expensive to fix. I am sure there will be a Honda in our life for as long as we own vehicles. If I needed a jet, the Honda Jet would be considered, at least as a “time shared” plane. Honda makes good stuff, the Mrs. even opted on a Honda lawn mower.
Bravo on this excellent presentation! I was glued to my iPad while watching this. Well thought out and presented in a very understandable manner. I am not a pilot (Though I have many hours on personal computer flight simulators with ThrustMaster joystick and Throttle Quadrant System, in addition to actually flying an Air Force T-38 jet trainer as an incentive flight during my active duty days), but enjoy living this virtual life through presentations like this. Of all the small aircraft I have watched videos about, the HondaJet definitely stands out. Thank you for putting this together!
I am biased against corporate self-appreciative marketing. However this video is really cool and very well put together, doesn't feel (much) like an extended ad and finds a love balance between the science and the "cool airplane stuff".
Fantastic aircraft HondaJet and a superb video which easily explains the Engineering and advantages achieved by its placement on the wings. Great job by the guy breaking it down for anyone to understand.
Great video and explanation. I ❤️ The Hondajet. I have flown many times on the Fokker 100 with fuselage mounted engines. The noise and vibration in the rear of the plane is massive.
3:33 good presentation 8:17 some action anyone can relate to. Made great sense and felt similarities between us 8:31 a transition frame spining things made viewers throwback to old memory and bring them closer have attachment to this video. Great
Wow, thank you for the understandable tutorial, I wondered why they used a somewhat 'unathletically' looking configuration for engine mounting, a worthy tradeoff. Someday perhaps I will afford a used one with run out engines.
You (Honda) produced an ingenious aircraft/ engine design (as you well know). Thinking about this design got me thinking about wingtip engines. there is a researcher who is expermenting with wingtip engines with R/C models. Interesting engineering (for me). Thanks for creating and uploading this informative video.
Very well done. Great explanation on engine placement. One thing to remember is that the Jet engines produce linear pounds of thrust. Foot-pounds is a twisting force…torque. 😊
Nice plane but I would like to know how the design affects the rigidity of the overall frame vs a conventional engine mounted to fuselage configuration.
I used to make fun of HondaJet for its uncommon design. But wow. It looks like there’s actually no reason to _not_ design a business/private jet like that.
Who designed and built the engines for the Honda jet ? If it was not Honda do they plan to build their own engines in the future and what is the range of the jet on one full tank of gas ?
As the video mentioned the engines were designed in a cooperation between GE and Honda, I'd say it is very unlikely any other corporation than GE builds them (Honda isn't in airplane engines).
Huh! Did not know Honda made planes! Nice! Very cool and cute little aircraft!! Neat innovations! Not that I would ever see the inside of one in the flesh...
The HondaJet fleet is now comprised of over 220 aircrafts, which recently surpassed the 120,000-flight-hour mark in operation, and the numbers are growing ✈.
Honda engineers have done a pretty good job in applying that concept to a business jet. I don´t want to bust your claim this design configuration is new but I think the Honda engineers looked around what designs have ever been studied but been unsuccessful for the lack of research capabilities ... Just have a look at the VFW-614 (made in 1961): th-cam.com/video/zx1z8fxuCKI/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUHVkZXLTYxNA%3D%3D Albeit larger being a regional airliner it has exactly the same configuration and the engineers at the time had exactly the same advantages in mind (weight reduction/preventing FOD/easy maintenance/largest cabin space out a the given fuselage length) Unfortunately wing design was not as advanced as it is today and the VFW-614 lacked in performance due to not having the optimum wing design and engine positioning (and ultimately non-support after VFW was taken over by Fokker who was not going to jeopardize their F-28 sales ...) and ultimately there was initially no suitable engine availlable on the market and when RR made a tailored engine for the aircraft it had serious reliability issues ... So, potential customers were not impressed. Honda seems to have done a much better job overall. Congrats.

Even in their Jet Program Soichiro Honda's innovative spirit lives on. Truly a remarkable company.
A big Salute from Honda and their engineers❤🫡
This has to be the best video that Honda has come out with for their jet so far. Well done!
I love how Honda thinks outside of the box!

like tesla changing battery design with the many tabs instead of just one

One of the best videos ever about HondaJet. Thanks
Our pleasure!

Excellent job buddy! Love these planes they’re such inspiration, hoping to own one within the next 5-8 years
Excellent work 🛫
Nice ❤
本田宗一郎が子供の頃、初めて飛行機を見たのが技術者になるきっかけだったそうです。
そしていつか自分も飛行機を作りたいとずっと夢を抱いていて、その夢がこうして実現しました。

I love this video! Has somebody said to become a private pilot it was so informative, entertaining, and really well done
Thank you so much HondaJet for sharing with us such a wonderful story.
What an interesting and engaging presentation...A proper and simplified blend of fluid dynamics & Engineering.... 👏👏

really great and entertaining presentation on the engineering of the Honda jet!

every comman man can understand this presentation !!! very nice
Wow that was really well done! The performance already spoke for itself that was just some delicious icing on a great cake.
Iam a big fan of Japanese knowledge and creativity!! this video is amazing! iam flying a Honda Jet in the Flight Simulator 2020! in love!
This is a great explainer.
Great answer to the most often asked question. Nice job!
amazing video, very well explained, long live honda
That's a Beautiful machine, i wish I could own this for my self.
That shot at 0:13 is so cool 😍
Great job of Honda's engineers 👍. Greeting from Indonesia. Hope our engineers can learn what the innovation create here.
This video truly well done and easy to digest.
Kudos Honda aircraft.
3:33 good presentation
8:17 some action anyone can relate to. Made great sense and felt similarities between us
8:31 a transition frame spining things made viewers throwback to old memory and bring them closer have attachment to this video. Great
The narrator's style and delivery was as superb, as was the content.
great vid im gonna buy one of these
Thank you for the video. It answered a question I always had about the Honda Jet.
I'm sold!
You explained so beautiful...loved it
Wow, thank you for the understandable tutorial, I wondered why they used a somewhat 'unathletically' looking configuration for engine mounting, a worthy tradeoff. Someday perhaps I will afford a used one with run out engines.
Love this video.... very formative 👍
I hope to own one someday ❤
Fantastic video and an awesome explanation of the pylons. I went from being a skeptic to a fan.
We needed to be allowed to make something like this 10 years ago
Awesome video y’all!! Love this aircraft 👍🏻
Beautiful aircraft....would love to experience flying ing one just once.
HondaJet is the snazziest bird in the air today, imho.💚💚💚
...excellent video ...great demo
This video is awesome, please make more!

What a great video! The host Josh does an exceptional job of informing while keeping you interested! I learned a lot from this video!
Very well done. Great explanation on engine placement. One thing to remember is that the Jet engines produce linear pounds of thrust. Foot-pounds is a twisting force…torque. 😊
Thank you for Best Vedio on Honda Aviation
I'm sold, gonna buy one soon for my garage collection
The explanation with hardware and software is 👍👍👍. Thoroughly enjoyed 🥰.
The fact that a jet this size can have a washroom in it is crazy to me
i like the in depth instruction...thx...hey the only thing i wish they had is a flight stick like a fighter...now that would be kewl...haha....peace
That's a nice plane. I wish I had one.
Great video Honda!
Great video. Thanks
Great video. I've been to the Honda tent at Oshkosh a number of times. This guy reminds me a lot of Kevin O'Connor, the host of "This Old House".
...because they look so good on the Hog.
just wondering that how much does it cost to make 1 hondajet elite S
Nice plane but I would like to know how the design affects the rigidity of the overall frame vs a conventional engine mounted to fuselage configuration.
So much room for activities!
Yes, I’ve always wondered why my honda jet had the engines over the wings.
Beautiful bird. Would love to see one in person!
Can't wait for my Honda jet 😄
LOVE THE BRAND MY ONLY CONCERN IT'S BUILT IN THE UNITED STATES AND NOT IN JAPAN.
Great airplane ✈️🛫 video
My question is then why wouldn't large aircraft makers move the engines to the top side? wondering looks like it would make it safer for ground crews.
With the engines so far apart with one out is it hard to keep the plane going straight? Lots of great new ideas in the jet.
Tail mounted they are about as far apart.
That badass DC-8 at 10:18 tho.
I used to make fun of HondaJet for its uncommon design. But wow. It looks like there’s actually no reason to _not_ design a business/private jet like that.
What an awesome video, it's the small things like the animatiion fade at 10:42 that really sell it :) would really love to fly a Honda Jet some time
Great commercial. I would buy a Honda jet.
So would I ... if I ever found the money to purchase one in my back pocket.
I swear I've seen engine-on-wing before
Honda just made it work better. And more efficient.
Fokker 614
VFW 614
Probably the Fokker 614
Yes you aren't wrong. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VFW-Fokker_614 Their video description is more than misleading lol
Bravo!!!
Funny Promotional video
Well done
How does this not have more views
Nice video
This guy is hilarious. Who wrote his lines? This is how ads should be.
Really cool
What about the antigravitic motors being used by the USAF and US navy, that will completely change air transport completely - see TR3B.
Save time: engines on wings reduces cockpit noise.
How will this affect the metal fatigue of the wing ? Will the wing last longer if the engines are on the fuselage?
Honda, yeah. really great engineer ideas

Gorgeous 🤤

Of course it was geared to that group as that is where the money for things like this is.
how many are already flying ?
nice design

the silver haired guy at the end walking around the jet looks like the kid from FortNine, if he were in his 50s
Great explanation! Edit out the 3 - 4 minute "history" piece.
I want one!
Personally not a huge fan of the design but it's a great aircraft nonetheless. Well done to Honda!
Very interesting
My answer to thay question is pretty simple. WHY NOT !
Honda engineers have done a pretty good job in applying that concept to a business jet.
I don´t want to bust your claim this design configuration is new but I think the Honda engineers looked around what designs have ever been studied but been unsuccessful for the lack of research capabilities ...
Just have a look at the VFW-614 (made in 1961): th-cam.com/video/zx1z8fxuCKI/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUHVkZXLTYxNA%3D%3D
Albeit larger being a regional airliner it has exactly the same configuration and the engineers at the time had exactly the same advantages in mind (weight reduction/preventing FOD/easy maintenance/largest cabin space out a the given fuselage length)
Unfortunately wing design was not as advanced as it is today and the VFW-614 lacked in performance due to not having the optimum wing design and engine positioning (and ultimately non-support after VFW was taken over by Fokker who was not going to jeopardize their F-28 sales ...) and ultimately there was initially no suitable engine availlable on the market and when RR made a tailored engine for the aircraft it had serious reliability issues ...
So, potential customers were not impressed.
Honda seems to have done a much better job overall. Congrats.
Wooww, what an amazing video. Thank you so much for providing such informative knowledge
Best wishes
Good innovation
Thank you! Cheers!
Is it possible to go on intercontinental trips with these things?
I would like to know this as well.
Yeah from South America to North America.
th-cam.com/video/i_Ox00_i0RA/w-d-xo.html
Ok ok I'll buy one
