    Man, you actually broke a window and dropped a piece of glass shattered everywhere in your room. How can anyone watch this video without dropping a like. I’m debating whether I should get the Ring Alarm Glass Break Sensor along with all my other Ring devices or those that attach to the windows (pretty ugly tbh). Your test gave me the confidence that the Ring Alarm Glass Break Sensor will do the job. Thanks.

    Works great. Just be aware if you clink silverware, cups, glasses or plates while cleaning or putting up it can mimic a broken glass sound and set off the alarm. This has happened twice to us in about the 2 week period we’ve had it, but no big deal and would rather have the security for when we are not at home.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      This is why you set this only on alarm modes... and not when the alarm is disarmed. In home mode for example, we only set it before everybody goes to sleep and alarm is disarmed first thing in the morning.

    Thank you for the review - honestly, it was one of the things that almost kept me from moving to Ring years ago - having a "traditional" (Honeywell Ademco) alarm system I was used to having a lot more choices around equipment and especially sensors / contacts. This is great news (although I'll need to watch the entire review). For testing they make glass break testing boxes but they aren't cheap - between $40 and $150 - plenty of bad reviews on the cheaper ones. My professional installer (years ago for the Honeywell gear) just used two screw drivers hit together about 2 or 3 feet from the glass break sensor. Over time we noticed that some household noises would trigger the sensor too such as a broom that was upright falling on to the hardwood floor would trigger the sensor - basically, loud "snapping" or "cracking" sounds.

      Its been 25 days since war came to Ukraine. Every day civil people and children die under missile attacks. At the same time American companies like Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Citibank continue their operations in russia sponsoring the war and making money on the blood of innocent Ukrainians. Help us convince them to wind down any operations in Russia. Stop paying taxes and sponsor their army!

    Hi Mr LifeHackster, I tested Alexa Guard glass break detection 3 times, 2 time were recordings of glass breaking and the 3rd was a small piece of glass I had in the garage. All 3 tests Alexa sent me notifications. But one thing I noticed, the app will not send a notification if the app is open. I had to actually close the app for it to send me notifications. Hi LifeHackster - love your channel! Do you NOT find it strange that these breakage sensors need to be mounted so high vs. the Alexa guard being at ground (table top) level? Could this be why Alexa guard is not as effective? I rely on motion sensors when I am "away" as I have too many windows for sensors on each one. Based on your review these look to be much more effective as the alarm sounds almost immediately upon breakage vs. motion already in my home that motion sensors provide. I see Amazon offers a 2-pack of these glass breakage sensors for $69.99 vs. one at $39.99 as I would need at least two to do the job for my home. I'm thinking I will buy these based on your review. One more question, Have you tried or are using the Ring water-leak sensors? I have two of these setup and have had one alarm from a toilet tank sweating in warm weather on the floor but have read "mixed" reviews on these. My other water-leak sensor is setup in my laundry room where my washer and hot water tank is. As you have stated I too am very pleased with my Ring Pro upgrade. Even at $200 a year for 24/7 everything and Co2 monitoring and cellular backup it's still cheaper than most systems out there! Having been an ADT fool years ago they only offered a fraction of what Ring does at $55+ a month and now I hear ADT "sucks" you into a (3) year contract now! And even higher contract breakage fees! NO Wonder! ADT is NOT a good home security setup in my view in today's times for the prices they command! My ADT system was "Fred Flintstone" level even at that time several years ago and "they" tried telling me "they are the best!" Well, now I'm convinced they are the "best" at ripping you off for what you get per month!

    How do you clear the Ring glass break sensor after it goes off?
    Disarming the alarm doesn’t clear it.

    Most burglars use the emergency escape hammer for getting out of your car if trapped. Just one tap and the glass breaks. Amazon it

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I know that..but it is still not a quite break (most house windows are not tempered) and the alarm will still go off even when using an escape hammer.

    Did you say that if the system is in "Away" mode and someone breaks a window, your phone will not get a notification???

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will get a notification. In my testing alexA guard didn’t detect or send me any notification..so I’m not sure what happened there.

    Ring does not want to save lives, they just want to try to prevent break-ins. If you have a gun against your head and alarm is going off, they call you and ask for your code word, and you are forced to act calm and say your code word, they hang up and you are assaulted and killed.
    Ring needs to ALSO have a code word for "HELP ME!! I'M UNDER DURESS!"

    • @BukuiZhao

      They do have a duress code.
