- In this video my American and Puerto Rican friends react to Eurovision Song Contest. In each episode we will skip Back and Forth in the History of Eurovision to watch some of the more interesting entries that the countries had to offer!!!

This is not inspired by Xena, this is Ukrainian, Eastern European Slavic folk culture. This is how the old Slav were. Finally, my culture shown in its all beauty. And we are all proud of this moment, and of Ruslana, because she is representing there what the Slavs are about... Strength, wildness, charisma, kindness and love. :)

I remember that I loved this song so much! I still have the CD-single. I thought she was so cool and was (and still am) so amazed over how she could dance the way she did and hold a tone at the same time! =D

Can we just agree that Shakira didn't invent oriental music, so stop comparing her with eurovision artists..
Especially if Wild Dances was based on the Ukrainian folk with trembitas used in the beginning and the costume was also based on folk traditions.

If you would listen to this song when it was competing in Ukraine you can hear that the base and the drums where not that high, they changed it for the ESC final to have a better chance of winning. Dont get me wrong, I love this song and I love Ruslana. I have this song on my playlist, its a real pick-me-up song. 😊
I hope they will react to Bandido Spain 1990 in the next series
you should do more videos of Turkey's Eurovision entries. They cannot compete anymore due to governmental restrictions but there is such a big fanbase there

It was the same for me - everyone knew the song but I had no idea it was /from/ anything. I loved the song when I was a kid, now I find it a bit repetitive and get bored after like a minute.

1991 ? Also known as the greatest robbery of ESC (seriously, they could have awarded the win to 2 different songs, a bit like in 1969). Although my favourite ESC song is Kan and 1991 is my favourite contest ever (that I know of). Finally, were you talking about Fangad am ev Stormvind or C'est le dernier qui a parlé qui a raison ?
