All the beams sweep across the whole area, penetrating the heads, armaments and limbs of the ZAFT units. In just two minutes, Kira has already silenced all pursuing machines. Seizing the momentun, he turns to the three Naz-ca class battleships. As if they are fearing the approaching Freedom, all of their cannons open fire. Leisurely snaking through the deadly beams, each of which is enough to melt a whole machine by grazing it, Kira fires his railguns and simultaneously launches the DRAGOONS. Following his battlecry, the scattered DRAGOONS release arrows of light, resembling a cage going for the group of battleships. All of their cannons and thrusters are hit or burnt one after another. Favourite episode Gundam SEED Destiny of all time. Kira's return to battlefield in new and my favourite mobile suit, Strike Freedom Gundam. And also,best debut Gundam ever because destroy ZAFT forces in 3 minutes.
I think Kira realized some things on his relationship with Lacus on this episode or they had an offscreen moments between episodes 39-41. You'll notice that on the battle of ORB until the end of the series, Kira becomes more concerned for Lacus and he is always at her side like he is making sure he is there when she needs him. Their intimacy is more apparent and you can tell that he is more fond of her than on first half of the series just by the expressions he makes when he is with her. My favorite is when she cuddles on him while they walk together after meeting Shinn on episode 50 of the remaster. Comparing that to the first episodes of the series where Lacus is always behind Kira when they are walking on the beach, shows that their relationship has developed throughout the show.
I like to think that it's after she left back to space and then again after he lost the freedom (and nearly died) that his priorities came more into focus and that he was finally able to move past the war two years ago, or he realized that the now was far too important to spend in the past. So he was finally able to let go of Flay and truely resiprocate Lacus's feelings

I noticed something about this show with this rewatch. There's a lot of "must get person away from toxic influence to get them to better themselves". It's more overt than in SEED. For Cagalli, and later, Lt. Amagi and the loyalists, it's away from Seiran-controlled Orb. For Athrun, it's away from Durandal For Shinn, it's away from both Durandal and Rey. And for Neo, to return to being Mu once more, he has to be taken away from Djibril.

Sooo, since 2005's Christmas, GS-GSD became my yearly anime. Watch it every november or december. N, no matter what episode im in, i never had my self saying "Aah, Next episode gonna be like this...". Even though i know, i just naturaly went clueless.😆😆 N, i love this remaster version. At least, they finaly show what uniform that Kira n Athrun wear at the end. Coz, LN readers would be the same as cheating if only they knew.😁😁

right? i dont know why it gets so much flak, sure its not as good as the original seed, but in ways its better. SEED was about the visual aspect of conflict while Destiny was more of the shadows behind it that manipulate it. I love both of them dearly

However, I think this episode was the peak of AsuCaga relationship which I hope while Kira saving Lacus, Athrun say "Cagalli or I have to save Cagalli" when he want to stand up after hearing the annoucement of the plant who wants to blow up ORB once again. Instead of saying that, Athrun just said "but" then Meyrin appearT_T. Disc: I dont hate meyrin, I like her as the best girl who makes good decision to help Athrun, but please don't butt into AsuCaga, I don't like to see Cagalli suffering when these 39, 40, 41 are the episodes for Cagalli strike back. Movie spoiler alert: That passage they were reading from about destiny plan sounds really similar with what lacus' mother told her about the world and the indivdiual. The movie showed that lacus' mother was a geneticist in mendel and worked with durandal. COULD SHE BE THE WHO HAS WRITTEN THIS? The movie failed to expand on this part of the lore. I really wished they opted a series rather than the movie. Seems pretty interesting subplot 😭
I hope that Gaia had more screen time and hopefully a HGCE revive version of that comes out soon... Though, highly likely it will be P-BANDAI. I'll get it anyways 😀
20:08 it's beyond me why they removed Vestige on this scene. It's now less effect without it. The least they could've done is put Meteor in it's place, but they went with a less effect bgm instead.
The ONE big downside of these Remasters. Promoting Vestige to proper 4th opening will always be the smarter decision, but it somehow means it cannot be the insert song it used to be, unlike with Rhythm Emotion for Gundam Wing. In its place, we're left with an...ok BGM for Kira, but it doesn't match Vestige. At least the other former use of Vestige gets replaced with Meteor, but that makes me wonder why they didn't just Meteor here. Though we DO get a much better outing for Kira on the Rouge, showing he's not reliant on Freedom for his skills, even if he is outclassed on the Rouge Ootori. Also, took me a while, but I finally understand the sudden uncharacteristic reluctance Lacus has in giving him the Strike Freedom. She's most definitely heard that the Freedom got whacked, and though Kira is alive, he almost bit it too. Seeing him in the Strike Rouge confirms it. So while misplaced then and there, I get why her fear of him getting killed flared up at the worst time. Also, Athrun and Cagalli, finally talking with clearer heads. Athrun's case is obvious, but in Cagalli's, we see that she REALLY needed the presence of the loyalists who joined up with the Archangel. She hasn't infamously cried like a baby since then. Tears like here, sure, but not so weakly. She will cry once more next episode, but it's healing crying.
Lacus was reluctant because she doesn't want Kira to pilot again, that's why she didn't want to give him the Freedom back either. It's not just because she's worried about him dying but also because she knows Kira doesn't want to fight and only does it because the people dear to him would die if he didn't.

Strike Freedom's reveal was amazing. I hadn't watched the first SEED show but I still got goosebumps over Kira's return. Vestige played a big part of the scene's impact but of course they ditched that in this "Remaster" of the series. Tbh...I would have just preferred a remaster off the OG Blu-rays maybe with some of the new art. keep the OG voices and 4:3. The zoomed in shots are not fantastic.
Helps that it’s actually a lot more fitting. Emphasises the romantic aspects of the show as well as signifying the end of a long battle. It fits perfectly
Not sure why, I know the Strike Freedom is superior in every way, but I like the design of the Freedom more. The S.Freedom is supposed to be faster and lighter, but it just looks heavier than the normal Freedom.
On earth atmosphere The Strike freedom is only ever slightly faster than Freedom actually, because SF has lighter armor plates than Freedom, also minus the huge shield freedom carries. But on space Strike Freedom is without a doubt faster than Freedom because of the Wings of Sky effect.

right? i dont know why it gets so much flak, sure its not as good as the original seed, but in ways its better. SEED was about the visual aspect of conflict while Destiny was more of the shadows behind it that manipulate it. I love both of them dearly

However, I think this episode was the peak of AsuCaga relationship which I hope while Kira saving Lacus, Athrun say "Cagalli or I have to save Cagalli" when he want to stand up after hearing the annoucement of the plant who wants to blow up ORB once again. Instead of saying that, Athrun just said "but" then Meyrin appearT_T.
Disc: I dont hate meyrin, I like her as the best girl who makes good decision to help Athrun, but please don't butt into AsuCaga, I don't like to see Cagalli suffering when these 39, 40, 41 are the episodes for Cagalli strike back. That passage they were reading from about destiny plan sounds really similar with what lacus' mother told her about the world and the indivdiual. The movie showed that lacus' mother was a geneticist in mendel and worked with durandal. COULD SHE BE THE WHO HAS WRITTEN THIS?
The movie failed to expand on this part of the lore. I really wished they opted a series rather than the movie. Seems pretty interesting subplot 😭

20:08 it's beyond me why they removed Vestige on this scene. It's now less effect without it. The least they could've done is put Meteor in it's place, but they went with a less effect bgm instead.
Honestly, on Strike Freedom debut, I still prefer Vestige BGM over the one in remastered version
The ONE big downside of these Remasters. Promoting Vestige to proper 4th opening will always be the smarter decision, but it somehow means it cannot be the insert song it used to be, unlike with Rhythm Emotion for Gundam Wing.
In its place, we're left with an...ok BGM for Kira, but it doesn't match Vestige.
At least the other former use of Vestige gets replaced with Meteor, but that makes me wonder why they didn't just Meteor here.
Though we DO get a much better outing for Kira on the Rouge, showing he's not reliant on Freedom for his skills, even if he is outclassed on the Rouge Ootori.
Also, took me a while, but I finally understand the sudden uncharacteristic reluctance Lacus has in giving him the Strike Freedom. She's most definitely heard that the Freedom got whacked, and though Kira is alive, he almost bit it too. Seeing him in the Strike Rouge confirms it. So while misplaced then and there, I get why her fear of him getting killed flared up at the worst time.
Also, Athrun and Cagalli, finally talking with clearer heads. Athrun's case is obvious, but in Cagalli's, we see that she REALLY needed the presence of the loyalists who joined up with the Archangel. She hasn't infamously cried like a baby since then. Tears like here, sure, but not so weakly. She will cry once more next episode, but it's healing crying.
Lacus was reluctant because she doesn't want Kira to pilot again, that's why she didn't want to give him the Freedom back either.
It's not just because she's worried about him dying but also because she knows Kira doesn't want to fight and only does it because the people dear to him would die if he didn't.
@@seppe3224 We already know that, but the issue people, and even myself sometimes, have is that why was she suddenly ok after his first return to the battlefield when he deployed in Dardanelles?

Strike Freedom's reveal was amazing. I hadn't watched the first SEED show but I still got goosebumps over Kira's return. Vestige played a big part of the scene's impact but of course they ditched that in this "Remaster" of the series. Tbh...I would have just preferred a remaster off the OG Blu-rays maybe with some of the new art. keep the OG voices and 4:3. The zoomed in shots are not fantastic.

Not sure why, I know the Strike Freedom is superior in every way, but I like the design of the Freedom more.
The S.Freedom is supposed to be faster and lighter, but it just looks heavier than the normal Freedom.
The gold frame kinda kills it for me.
On earth atmosphere The Strike freedom is only ever slightly faster than Freedom actually, because SF has lighter armor plates than Freedom, also minus the huge shield freedom carries. But on space Strike Freedom is without a doubt faster than Freedom because of the Wings of Sky effect.
Not sure how you see that. The Strike Freedom's wings are smaller and lack plasma cannons, and it actually has less armor around the waist area

Freedom is a more famous design
At least, Strike Rouge is still able to be respawned.
