Once again David that was a excellent video to watch, I do wish other bloggers would explain things the way you do, you dont tell us what to do you tell what you do to get a balanced picture! Living in a beautiful part of the country helps too, its always strange when there are very few visitors there to take pictures when this is the best time to take them. Thank you so much for the info you put on here, and I would like to wish you and your family a very happy new year!
Hello Des, thank you so much as always for your generous support of my channel. I've always felt that showing rather than telling is more helpful and engaging, so it's great to get such positive feedback. All the very best to you and yours for the New Year and here's to many more (hopefully) interesting videos 😊👍
0:34 The question of how much time to spend, thinking through and setting up shots is something I really struggle with. It's composure, rather than composition that's my undoing, as I find myself snatching at shots. Your detailed, unrushed thought process is a reminder of what I need to work on in 2022. Terrific pics, as usual, as well. Cheers 😊
Many thanks for picking up on that because it's something that is quite difficult to demonstrate in any detail out on location and that's why I chose to use a few raw files instead. With the obvious exception of very fleeting light in the mountains, as a rule landscapes are relatively static and so it is worth just taking 5 or 10 minutes to really think about an image. And you will usually find that you come home with something which is then worth your valuable time processing and you end up with something that you are proud of. Either that or you will realise quite early on that whatever it is you are looking at, and even if it's something which is really caught your eye, you will be able to differentiate what looks good in person compared to what would work well as an image. I see a lot of photography from people who obviously enjoyed some very picturesque scenery but which doesn't necessarily translate well to a photograph. Just taking that extra bit of time on location definitely sorts the wheat from the chaff and there have been many times when I have thought a scene looks fabulous but found that it would never work well in camera. And, of course, there are times when a scene doesn't look like there is much going on but when viewed through the camera and worked on a little turns into a very compelling image 😊👍
The way you go about describing what you’re doing is brilliant. Those images were a delight too, you must be very pleased when you see them coming together in post. All the best for 2022 David 👍🏻
The Dillops behind you want to put their dog on a lead. Thanks for this David, to me it is a very special place regardless of the weather, and loving the moody shots.
Some lovely images here David, I was wondering how that one of Cwm Idwal would come together and really liked the final result! It’s nice to see an image of it that shows the oppressiveness of the cloud rolling down, far more interesting than a lot of the more ‘standard’ images you see if it! S
Quite enjoyed that one David well done. Some beautiful moody images as well. I have quite an affinity for the Ogwen Valley so it’s a treat to watch you work there. I once spent an entire day there under flat light, windy, cold conditions. Didn’t get a single keeper from the day but I sure had big fun. Appreciate the unsponsored content as well. Have a great 2022. Cheers
Great images again. Nice little gallery at the beach. We are so lucky on Anglesey to have beauty at our doorstep. Beautiful atmospheric images on your trip to snowdonia really captures the beauty of the mountains in winter. Not sure why but that people that just stopped behind you when you taking to camera made me laugh. Photo bombing at its best. Looking forward to the top 20.
I’m liking the new format very much. I’ve never attempted many of the processing techniques that you describe, so you’re giving me a new challenge. You can always delete and start over with digital! Looking forward to your favorite shots and, particularly, why you chose them. Happy New Year from Colorado!
Hello Kathleen, really glad to hear from you and pleased that you're enjoying the new format. It had become pretty clear to me that I was only telling half the story when I was just visiting locations and then presenting the images, when there is so much that goes into the processing. I was a bit reticent about doing more on processing simply because those videos by themselves tend to be less popular. But I'm hoping I've got the balance about right. I'm not going to go through in absolute detail on every image, but just pick up on the key aspects and maybe every now and then talk in detail about one particular technique that I use to achieve the final results. Anyway, thanks as always for your very generous support, as you know I really appreciate it. All the very best to you and yours for the New Year. 😊👍
Thanks Dave. Appreciate your processing explanations. Was amused by the expressions of the walkers in the background of your first piece to camera in the mountains.
Hello Joe, yes they rather caught me by surprise as I hadn't seen them coming up the path. But as you saw, I am a consummate professional these days and was able to keep going without missing a beat! 😂👍
Always a pleasure to watch your vlogs David without the interruption of adverts, keeps the interest going I think. Really enjoyed that love Ogwen valley. 👍
Love this new format your using in your video's David. I'm finding them very interesting the way you approach your images and how you put them together. ❤
Nice end to the year, David, thanks for all the entertainment (doesn’t really seem the right word but I can’t think of a better one). I really like the new format and its balance between b-roll and explanation/instruction. Happy New Year to you and Mrs G!
Diolch yn fawr, Steve. Thank you so much for watching and being good enough to leave such encouraging feedback, I really appreciate it. And all the very best for the New Year to you and yours 😊👍
Thanks for this vlog David ... Cwm Idwal is my fav location in North Wales, I think you can feel the vastness of the mountains without too much effort inwalking up to the lake.... and then the bonus of the waterfalls down at the road level .... just wonderful.... Diolch
Hello Paul, thank you so much for tuning in I really appreciate it and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. You're quite right about the accessibility of that location and of course that's why it is so popular. But I can completely understand why people like to visit it because when you walked up just a short distance from the cottage you could be 100 miles away from civilisation when surrounded by the ridgeline of the Glyders 😊👍
I really enjoy your videos Dave. I wouldn't miss one. You almost always make me think and I'm hoping that makes me a better photographer. Thanks! Oh and by the way, I loved the way you had that dog and people come into your frame right after telling us you had the place to yourself. 😃See you in 2022. Cheers!
Cheers Gary, if only I had noticed them coming up the path before I started recording that clip!! Anyway, at least I was able to finish it in one take! Many thanks for taking the time to make contact, and I must say that your feedback is extremely welcome. If what I do entertains and informs people then especially making them think is quite an accolade, and I really appreciate it. 😊👍
I am delighted you did this in Cwm Idwal - I find it the most wonderful and complex area to photograph in ANY conditions. It was helpful to hear you say you too find it "challenging". Your talk thru the thought processes and solutions was so helpful, so now I can look at it thru "different eyes" - many thanks DG.
Hello Susan, thank you so much for watching I really appreciate it and thank you for taking the time to make contact with such encouraging feedback. I do enjoy sharing the locations that I visit but I felt that I was leaving out half of the story when I present my images as to how they were created so hopefully my new format will be more helpful and informative 😊👍
Hi Dave, you're right its a spectacular part of the world, but to capture it requires a real skill .. and no shortage of that behind your viewfinder! Clearly you've had a few early mornings and they've yielded some really excellent results. As ever it is really interesting to glean an understanding of how your photography brain works, mine is far less talented, but learns so much. Thankyou for continuing to share your knowledge. Keep up the good work, and all the best to you and Mrs G for the new year.
Hello Steve, really appreciate your support as always, and so good to hear that you find my stuff to be helpful. That's the main reason I do this sort of thing. All the very best to you and yours for the New Year 😊👍
Thank you very much, David, for these beautiful shots. I like the panorama from Anglesey with the summits in the mist very much. The moody atmosphere at Cwm Idwal is great, as well. I stayed a few times at Caernafon on Riverside campsite with my family and we like Snowdonia very much (sorry for the late feedback and kind regards from Germany)
Hello Martin, many thanks for your generous feedback. No need to apologise for lateness, though. I hope my stuff doesn't really have a shelf-life as such and can be enjoyed any time 😊👍
You have a great "backyard" for photography. I'm jealous. Love hoar frost. Makes for beautiful images. Lovely images. Would be hard pressed to pick a favorite one out of those stunning images. Look forward to seeing your top pick for 2021. Happy New Year to you and yours. See you next year.
Hello Susan, thank you so much for watching and being good enough to take the time to leave such generous feedback. I really appreciated and I'm so glad you enjoyed this video. Let me also wish all the best to you and yours for the New Year 😊👍
This has to be my favourite location to visit in Snowdonia. Capturing the conditions you had Mate for this shoot you produced an amazing final Image. It's really interesting to see how to select different aspects of multiple images to then form your final composition. Cheers for sharing Mate and take care, 👍 📸
Thank you so much for watching, and being good enough to take the time to leave such encouraging feedback. I really appreciate it. And I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. 😊👍
Thank you so much for watching, and being good enough to take the time to make contact. I really appreciate it, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks again. 😊👍
Another good upload Mr G!…. My family and I will be having a 2 week getaway from Devon to spend time very near you. I will be using the time to compile a tonne of images. It would be lovely to meet up if you get the chance and if the social distancing will allow. As I have mentioned before, I fly and would be willing to take you for a spin so you can get some shots from above if you fancy it. Can’t wait to see how your assignment pans out for you mate.
Hello John, thank you so much as ever for your very generous support. Really appreciate it. Hope you have some fabulous conditions while you're up here and are able to make the most of it. As for your very generous offer for a flight, that would be absolutely marvellous and I would most certainly take you up on it. Let's see if we can get something organised at some point ... 😊👍
Hello Paul, thank you so much for watching so glad you enjoyed it. And I really appreciate you taking the time to leave such generous feedback. Let me also wish you and yours all the very best for the New Year 😊👍
Great video David. Gosh, I was reminded just how beautiful the north of Wales really is; I must get back there soon. Thanks for sharing and a very happy New Year to you.
Excellent vlog as usual David. The Ogwen Valley is such a special place but as you say it does get very busy at times. I'm lucky in that I live not too far away in Denbighshire so like you can choose to go when it's quiet. Cwm Idwal is a great place to shoot and the conditions were very similar to yours the last time I was there. Somehow the bowl seems to hold the low cloud that can be a pain at times and a blessing on other occasions. I'm still learning and my thought processes are nowhere near as intricate as yours, however through your videos I am slowly improving. My plans are to get up to Anglesey soon with Llanddwyn Island, Aberffraw and Penmon on the tick list. I know everyone has done these but to date I haven't, so any images I get will be personal to me. Maybe our paths will cross. I just wish I was better at post processing, a subject I find quite difficult. I can make basic edits to my images in Lightroom but Photoshop is a minefield. Perhaps a New Years resolution is called for to try and get to grips with the programme. Thanks for the last 12 months and very best wishes to you and your family for 2022 📷👍🥇
Hello Glyn, thank you so much for watching, so glad you enjoyed it and I really appreciate you taking the time to make contact. Like you, I tend to pick and choose times to visit but I rather miscalculated on this one with regards to the conditions. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't normally spend much time down in the valley, but would head up onto the ridge, and as you saw my target for this particular video was at a much higher elevation and not feasible this time. 😊👍
Some lovely images despite the cloud, Snowdonia really does have alot of offer no matter what your interest, I always love shots with the marram grass in the foreground too!
Hi Keith, thanks as ever for your ongoing support. You might have noticed that I've stopped posting in the Welsh Photographers Facebook group, for some reason they decided to start blocking my posts and weren't even good enough to let me know why! Anyway many thanks for watching. And yes, you're quite right you can't beat the lovely textures of marram grass in the foreground and it always reflect the light in really interesting ways. 😊👍
Happy New Year David! Thanks for the great walk through of your process and the beautiful scenery! I think my take away from this video was to slow down. I think if you combined street photography and landscape photography that would be the genre I fit. Seeing a calmer more rational approach was inspiring. Greetings from the very snowy and cold North Palouse.
Hello Jim, thank you so much for tuning in. I have tried some street photography and very much enjoyed it, certainly something which I will be doing again at some point. 😊👍
Hi David enjoyed the new format to your uploads, Kept my intrest start to finish. Some cracking images also and looking forward to your TOP 20. HNY To you and Mrs G.
Hi Andy, many thanks for watching and so glad you are enjoying my new format. I'd been trying to work out how I could do something a bit different to the sort of thing that everybody else seems to do with landscape photography videos these days, and judging by the feedback it seems to be working quite well. So thanks a lot for your very encouraging feedback, and all the best for the New Year to you and yours. 😊👍
Happies for the New Year David. It has been fantastic to watch your program, enjoy your images and now the processes that you use in creating them and learn so much from you. All the best to your family too and I will see you in the New Year.
Hello Stephen, thank you so much for watching and being good enough to take the time to leave a comment. I really appreciate it and thank you for your very encouraging feedback. Let me also wish you and yours all the very best for the New Year. 😊👍
Hello Cath, thank you so much for watching and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. And many thanks for being good enough to take the time to make contact. All the best to you and yours for the New Year. 😊👍
Really enjoying the new format. Its showing not only what can be done, but how to go about it. Twelve months ago I upgraded from a FF to an EM5iii. Best move I ever made - I now actually take the camera with me. But, your selection of photos taken with the EM5iii really shows me how much I've still got to learn in both composition and post. I will never get similar photos to yours - conditions are totally different here (300km north of Sydney, Aus).
Hello Bruce, thank you so much for watching and being good enough to get in touch. So glad you are enjoying my change of direction. Of course your landscapes will be very different to mine, but hopefully you will continue to get great enjoyment from your M4/3 photography as I'm sure you have some pretty spectacular locations near you 😊👍
Hello Jack, thank you so much for watching and being good enough to take the time to leave a comment. I really appreciate it and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. 😊👍
Cheers Darrel, yes sometimes it's worth taking the effort to create a final image with a little more impact than you can get with a single exposure. My photography is always about creating artwork. I've never really been one for just documenting what I could actually see. I know that sort of thing works for a lot of photographers, but I see the images that I make as just using a different medium from any other artist. Despite having been a photographer for over 40 years, I've also done some oil and water colour landscapes, and I see my motivation as being no different as a photographer. It's always all about the final image. 😊👍
@@DGriffGallery Yes, I do agree with your approach. I just wish I had more ability to make it happen!! Still, the fun is in the learning and trying 😊. By the way, I was on Llanddwyn island a couple of weeks ago. A fantastic place to be with all the wild flowers looking splendid in the sunny weather.
Nie shots dave. I know what you mean about picking your top shots. I do a calendar for family and friends each year and getting down to 15-30 picks is OK, but narrowing it down to the final 12 is always really hard (and that's limiting it to square or landscape format only!). Looking forward to your top 20.
Many thanks for watching, Jeff, so glad you enjoyed it. Really appreciate you taking the time to make contact and I wish you and yours all the best for the New Year. 😊👍
Happy new year David. Lovely images. I've just returned from 4 days in the Lake District & was surrounded by low hanging cloud & drizzle. Not the best conditions so I know how hard it can be. You did well there.
Oh look, a man talking to a camera - let's stop and gawp! What a beautiful location, and your final composite image of the lake is gorgeous. Happy New Year to you David.
Haha, yes, I had no idea they were coming up the path when I started filming that clip, and I was quite impressed with myself that I managed to carry on as if they weren't there! 😊👍
a thoroughly enjoyable video. Thanks. Great location, and I didn't mind the dog and "gawpers". Everyone has a right to be there, and when shooting a vlog in a public space it is a risk you take. The lady was, after all, taking her own photos.
Hello Andrew, no I didn't mind them either. Hope it didn't come across that way. I didn't know they were coming up the path when I started filming the clip, and in all honesty I was quite impressed with myself that I managed to carry on to finish the piece to camera without becoming extremely distracted. It's not that I'm embarrassed at all about talking to camera in front of people, it's just that it was a bit of a shock after what I just said when I turned round to find them there! But you do make a very good point everybody has an absolute right to visit, and as you will know from my content and the location guides on my website I absolutely encourage people to visit. This particular location is great because it's so easy to get to that people otherwise wouldn't be able to hike into the more remote areas get a real feel for Snowdonia 😊👍
I live not to far from Snowdon, I have exactly the same kit as you, and was actually there on the 23rd Dec at Moel Siabod Cafe to buy Nick Livesey's excellent book on the back of your video. Thank you for the excellent videos....they have certainly helped me....!!
So nice to see you enthusiastically talking about just getting out, the new style showing the complete work involved from capture to edit to finished image well explained giving us more amateur photographers a good insight, happy new year
Hello Trevor, thank you so much for watching and being good enough to make contact. So glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful. All the best to you and yours for the New Year. 😊👍
Thank you David for the year,s V,log,s. Learned a great deal, can see a lot of thought goes into your composition,s, how to create depth in "layer,s", That has to be key, how to recreate a 3D panorama into a 2D image, keep up the good work and happy new year.
Hello Steve, thank you so much for watching and your encouraging feedback. Yes, on reflection, I realise that I do make quite a lot of references to getting depth into images. I generally find that images are more compelling and engaging when the photographer can achieve this and it really is worth bearing in mind as much as possible not just when shooting but also in processing. 😊👍
Great video as always David, thank you. I was in that same spot just yesterday and as you said in your video completely different conditions, much more water in the streams and a howling wind across Llyn Idwal. Was also back to it's 'theme park' best!
Hello Simon, thank you so much for tuning in. Really glad you enjoyed it. I must admit the conditions that I had earlier in the week were quite rare in terms of wind speed. It's usually fairly breezy in that corrie. 😊👍
Hello Philip, thank you so much for watching and being good enough to take the time to make contact. Let me also wish you and yours all the best for the New Year 😊👍
A fab result from those number of exposures. Sorry I can't see your Flickr gallery anymore, it was so nice to look at the edited results. I guess you have your hands full with just the video work. Anyway have a brilliant new year and thanks for all the work you do.
Hello John, many thanks for watching and taking the time to get in touch with such encouraging feedback. I really appreciate it. I'm afraid that I have decided to shut down my Flickr account, but you can see the images in higher resolution on my website at: dgriff.gallery/a-very-misty-cwm-idwal-snowdonia/ 😊👍
Hello Burt, many thanks as always for your generous feedback. I really hope that I can encourage you to keep to that resolution as I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed and if we can manage it, it would be great to say Hello in person ... 😊👍
Just as you said you had the place to yourself, cue a dog and 3 people photobombing your video 😂. Happy New Year David, lovely video and pictures, cant wait for your top 20 review of 2021. Best Regards, Phil
Hahaha yes, it did rather throw me when I turned round to indicate where I've been planning to go only to find them standing there looking back at me. Although I was rather proud of myself that I carried on without missing a beat and got the clip finished in one take! 😊👍
Hi Dave, thanks for the vlog, interesting as always and I enjoyed your thoughts on post processing Cwm Idwal. Happy New Year to you and your family and who knows if our paths may meet one day. Off to Ryhd Ddu tomorrow and as the forecast isn't too good may take a look at Cwmorthin Quarry
Great video David, how’s the walk up to where the bridge crosses the cascades at Cwm Idwal please? Just wondering if I could get up there. Best Wishes to you and your family for the New Year and happy hunting in the coming year 📸
Hello Brian, thank you so much as ever for your very generous support. I'm not exactly sure what mobility difficulties you have and so it's difficult to answer accurately and I would hate to make it sound like you'd have no problem only for you to find that it is more difficult than I've lead you to believe. However, what I can say is that at a slow pace you need 15 to 20 minutes to get up from the car park to the lake. The route is quite uneven because they have laid a path of large stones so it's not boggy and difficult in that respect but if you're a little unsteady that can be a problem. It's not particularly steep, and not particularly technical, but you do need to be a little careful especially when it's wet or icy. That said, if you take your time and maybe use a trekking pole, it shouldn't be too difficult and you would then be able to really enjoy the best of Snowdonia scenery without having to travel too far from your parking. Really hope this is helpful and if you do make an attempt at it I'd love to hear how you get on. 😊👍
@@DGriffGallery I do use a stick but can manage as long as it’s not too steep for the main part David, I know we had this conversation a couple of years ago but obviously the world was turned on it’s head then, it’s never been this long since I’ve been to Wales, can’t remember if we popped down near last Christmas to see my Brother but I don’t think we did, so it’s over two years since I was there. Anyway, Happy New Year
Another excellent video Dave and some very nice images from the morning. Looking forward to seeing your top twenty, just a question about the head you had on your tripod is that a geared head?. If so how do you find it compared to a ball head. All the best for the New Year.
Hello Kevin, many thanks for watching and your generous feedback as always. Well spotted, it is a good head which I've been using for about the last three months. I have mentioned it very briefly in previous videos but quite a few people have asked about it and I think I might give it a bigger billing in a forthcoming video when I can use it to demonstrate how helpful it is with accuracy in compositions. I most certainly wouldn't go back to a regular ball head in a million years!! 😊👍
Great images as always David. Seems conditions haven't changed much since my visit a few weeks ago and can you tell me the location of Burger King? Sausage rolls down near the car park are good but, now and again you fancy something different. 🤣 Happy new year to you and yours.
David, I would like to ask why did you replace the 12-100 f4 with the 12-40 f2.8. Size? Aperture? Right now I’m also very interested in the 12-45 f4 because of the size and the “macro” (minimum focus distance) capabilities. I own the 7-14 f2.8 ( I ask myself if I should replace it with the 8-25 f4 because of the filters), the LUMIX 12-35 f2.8 (because of the OIS and video focus without breaking. But is a love/hate lens, with terrible focus ring and magnification), the 40-150 f2.8 (simply love it) and the 300 f4 (wow lens).
Hi, well to answer your first question I decided to take advantage of the quality of the f/2.8 Pro series lenses, and that whilst I am out and about specifically for photography there is no real downside to having to change lenses. I take my time over my photography and so I don't find myself swapping them too often. And most certainly the wider aperture has already come in very handy for some images since I traded in the 12-100mm. With regards to ultra wide angle I never really considered the 7-14mm, because as you already mentioned it wouldn't be any use to me without filters as I do use them on most images. So I have recently acquired the excellent new 8-25mm. I can tolerate the slower aperture on this one as a trade off against the field of view and the excellent optics, along with, of course, a filter thread and an objective lens which doesn't bulge out very much. I must admit, though, I have never even looked at lenses from other M4/3 manufacturers as I am perfectly happy with Olympus glass. And, like yourself, I am a huge fan of the 40-150mm. I don't see myself spending the rather large sum of money necessary for the 300mm f/4.0 as I rarely shoot anything which would require such a long focal length and so I wouldn't really get much value from it. 😊👍
@@DGriffGallery I was curious to know your opinion as a Landscape photographer, an area that is new for me and which has attracted me more and more. I've seen good results and good reviews with and about the 12-100mm f4. but I always wondered if it would be a good option for me, as I already have the 7-14mm f2.8, 12-35mm f2.8 and 40-150mm f2.8, in addition to the others already mentioned. The 12-100mm would be an attempt to take just 1 lens, which would cover many of my interests. Regrettably, bird photography, my specialty, along with Macro, would be left out of coverage with the 12-100mm… Thank you David. I wish you a Happy New Year!!
Like the new format, I think it works very well. Interested that you take your shots while dog walking. I try the same, but almost inevitably I get photobombed by a spaniel or it’s foot prints. Any hints how to avoid this ?
Hahahaha, no, sorry Paul but I can't offer you any decent solutions as I have exactly the same problem. Especially footprints on wet sand which otherwise would create lovely reflections of the sky and I'll quickly rendered unusable! Anyway, many thanks for watching I'm really glad that you're enjoying the new format. 😊👍
Well spotted! Actually I did just that when I was mostly using the 12-100mm f4/0 Pro, and of course that's to be expected as most lenses reach peak sharpness when stopped down about 1 stop from the widest aperture. And with M4/3 systems that equates to f/11 in full frame which offers good depth of field for landscapes. However, with my recent aquisitions of f/2.8 Pro lenses I've really only been using it for DoF purposes as those lenses are very sharp throughout the focal range. 😊👍
Hello Marc, actually, I might be slightly ahead of you there as there may be a bonus image of its finds its way in at the end! Don't tell anyone else 😂👍
The 'new' format videos are very good and as a M4/3 photographer it is great to have you championing the format.
Cheers Paul, thanks a lot. So glad you like my stuff 😊👍
The way you go about describing what you’re doing is brilliant. Those images were a delight too, you must be very pleased when you see them coming together in post. All the best for 2022 David 👍🏻
Many thanks Richard, really appreciate you leaving such generous feedback. All the best to you and yours for the New Year as well. 😊👍
The Dillops behind you want to put their dog on a lead. Thanks for this David, to me it is a very special place regardless of the weather, and loving the moody shots.
Yes Iain, there is often livestock grazing around the lake! 😊👍
Some lovely images here David, I was wondering how that one of Cwm Idwal would come together and really liked the final result! It’s nice to see an image of it that shows the oppressiveness of the cloud rolling down, far more interesting than a lot of the more ‘standard’ images you see if it! S
Cheers mate. Rare to find me there jostling with the crowds. But I was glad I bothered on this one 😊👍
Cheers
Nailed it, again, nice mix of why rather than just how. The thought process of others is really fascinating. Thanks for taking the time, appreciated
The composite turned out very nice. Wonderful video David and thanks for no ads!
Haha yeah I had no idea they were there until I turned round to point up towards Bochlwyd! And I managed to keep going too!! 😂👍
Cheers. Happy to offer Ad-free entertainment 😊👍
Love this new format your using in your video's David.
I'm finding them very interesting the way you approach your images and how you put them together. ❤
Fantastic set of atmospheric images Dave. Looking forwards to see your top 20 shots.
All the best for 2022 .📷🌄
Hello Tim, thank you so much for watching and so glad you enjoyed it. And the very best to you and yours for the New Year 😊👍
Nice end to the year, David, thanks for all the entertainment (doesn’t really seem the right word but I can’t think of a better one). I really like the new format and its balance between b-roll and explanation/instruction. Happy New Year to you and Mrs G!
Thanks for your work in '21 Dave. Enjoy the coming year.
Cheers Gary, always appreciate your generous support. Hope you and yours have a fabulous New Year too 😊👍
Thanks David for keeping us all entertained, informed and inspired, your videos have become a monthly treat. blwyddyn Newydd Dda!!
I like them all, but the one with the small cascades… so beautiful. Very good find Dave. Thnx for sharring. Cheers.
Many thanks for watching and your very generous support as always, so glad you enjoyed it. 😊👍
crackin images David look forward to more in 2022 All the Best 🍻🍻
I am delighted you did this in Cwm Idwal - I find it the most wonderful and complex area to photograph in ANY conditions. It was helpful to hear you say you too find it "challenging". Your talk thru the thought processes and solutions was so helpful, so now I can look at it thru "different eyes" - many thanks DG.
Thanks so much as always for your generous support and feedback. Great to hear that this might have been in some way helpful to you. 😊👍
Most enjoyable. I love the way you talk about what you are thinking when making a photo. I also like listening about what you do in post. Thanks.
All the very best to you and yours for the New Year 😊👍
A superb final image David, your thought process on putting it all together was good to follow too.
Cheers Carl 😊👍
Thank you very much, David, for these beautiful shots. I like the panorama from Anglesey with the summits in the mist very much. The moody atmosphere at Cwm Idwal is great, as well. I stayed a few times at Caernafon on Riverside campsite with my family and we like Snowdonia very much (sorry for the late feedback and kind regards from Germany)
Hello Martin, many thanks for your generous feedback. No need to apologise for lateness, though. I hope my stuff doesn't really have a shelf-life as such and can be enjoyed any time 😊👍
@@DGriffGallery Timeless stuff, indeed, I’m looking forward to watching more of your „older“ videos…
Cheers mate, we must add Idwal to our itinerary when you're next up this way ... 😊👍
@@DGriffGallery definitely up for that Mate, 👍📸
Wonderful and inspiring! Amazing video, edition, music! Thank you! Perfect video for the last day of 2021! Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching, and being good enough to take the time to leave such encouraging feedback. I really appreciate it. And I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. 😊👍
Top notch content David beautiful images in a stunning location. Thank you for sharing and best wishes for the coming year.
Hello John, thank you so much for tuning in, really glad you enjoyed it. Best wishes to you and yours also 😊👍
Very nice. I really enjoyed watching this. 👍
Thank you so much for watching, and being good enough to take the time to make contact. I really appreciate it, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks again. 😊👍
I liked the seaside pics ... I often do handheld pics on my walks. As usual I love the explanation of how you set up your shots.
Excellent video and photography David, looking forward to your top 20.
May I wish you and yours a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
Hello Tony, thank you so much for watching and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. All the very best to you and yours for the New Year also 😊👍
Another good upload Mr G!….
Another great video Dave & looking forward in anticipation to the next, best wishes for 2022 & please keep up the great & highly enjoyable work

Hello Jim, thank you so much for watching and being good enough to leave such generous feedback. Really appreciate your ongoing support. 😊👍
Great video David. Gosh, I was reminded just how beautiful the north of Wales really is; I must get back there soon. Thanks for sharing and a very happy New Year to you.
Cheers Ian, I do hope you will be able to come back and visit before too long 😊👍
Thanks. Really, really like the new format. All the best for the new year👍👍
Many thanks Kevin, and the same to you and yours 😊👍
@@DGriffGallery Hey David, what I was trying to convey, is I do Landscape at a street photography (fast) pace! 😀 Cheers and Happy New Year!

@@DGriffGallery Your very welcome David. I do enjoy your v ideos. Have a great day and look forward to seeing more of your videos. 👍👍🎊🎊🎉🎉

Wonderful images! Fascinating how you build up a final image.
Cheers Alan, I did a calendar once. Never again!!! 😊👍
great video Mr Griff, wet feet most of the equal in something is great to come.
Yes, it was definitely worth it!

Brilliant. So pleased you bought the book. My mate Nick deserves every success for such a great read. Also he has another in the pipeline ... 😊👍
Happy new year all the best 2022. Very interesting your walk through of taking the image.

@@DGriffGallery Yes Dave it would be interesting to get your take on the geared head Vs ball head.
Great images as always David. Seems conditions haven't changed much since my visit a few weeks ago and can you tell me the location of Burger King? Sausage rolls down near the car park are good but, now and again you fancy something different. 🤣 Happy new year to you and yours.
Cheers Colin. And BK is down at the services on the A55 at the Bethesda junction 😊👍
I am interested to see most of your photographs were shot at f 5.6. Was that a conscious choice? Did you do any sharpness testing to get there?
Well spotted! Actually I did just that when I was mostly using the 12-100mm f4/0 Pro, and of course that's to be expected as most lenses reach peak sharpness when stopped down about 1 stop from the widest aperture. And with M4/3 systems that equates to f/11 in full frame which offers good depth of field for landscapes. However, with my recent aquisitions of f/2.8 Pro lenses I've really only been using it for DoF purposes as those lenses are very sharp throughout the focal range. 😊👍
Grab one more image and make it 21 for 21
Hello Marc, actually, I might be slightly ahead of you there as there may be a bonus image of its finds its way in at the end! Don't tell anyone else 😂👍
