  • The Brooks Levitate range is a series of shoes focussed on energy return and responsiveness. Unlike the soft DNA Loft midsole found in the Brooks Ghost 14 and the Glycerin 19, the DNA Amp foam in the Levitate 5 is designed to offer a firmer ride for faster training.
Here's Tom's first run look at the Brooks Levitate 5 to see how it delivers straight out of the box.
We'll follow this video up with a full review very soon.

These are my favorite shoes to date! I have plantar fasciitis and these help a lot!

I got them today, I also have the same condition, I agree with you, though special insoles also help.

It could be the narrow shoes we have worn that smash your big toe in and causes that muscle to be stretched

Literally answered my priority question on whether these would be best for fast short runs or slow long runs, thank you! I use Hoka Arahi's for slow aerobic build runs and I'm planning to purchase these for tempo runs.

When I first got into running the laceless version was the first ever running shoe owned. I liked them very much and ended up buying a laced version and I like them even more. I've tried on other running shoes that have much more cushion and I just don't like them. The levitate just feels very simple and it feels like I could walk or run in them all day, and yes, running them at a faster pace 100% feels much better than going at a slower pace.

Have been looking at this for a while now. How similar is it to the hyperion tempo? Having trouble deciding which I like the most although really do need to try them out first.

Have you guys tried/reviewed the Asics Gel Excite 8? or any other sub £100 trainers (other than Puma and Reebok reviews on the channel). Would be great to have a few comparisons on that end of the budget.

Very good review. I ordered them today.. A bit worried about if they are wide enough in the midfoot and not to harsh as I run in the Rebel V2 and was looking for long runs shoe. Is there any energy return at slow pace? I do mostly jogging type of run.

I've only run in them once, so it's tricky to say. Definitely not a wide shoe, but it didn't feel restrictive for me. I'd say there's definitely less energy at slower pace, not as much bounce as I normally like. But I'm a big bounce fan so it may be okay if. Let us know how it goes, very interested to hear another runner's views on it.

Got them today. Fit very nice and quality very impressive. Shoe feels like it is bottom heavy.. I weigh it because it felt heavy.. It was 290gr in size 43 (I expected 330+) so not bad but just feel heavy because the midsole is so dense. Very stable but running in the living room I did not get any energy return.. Nothing like FuelCell. Of course being hard you get energy back even if you had a midsole made of wood..
