      Glad they helped you out. That is why I put them out there. There are thousands of those old motors just waiting to be awakened and bring someone fishing. The fish don't care if your motor is 40 or 50 years old. Those old motors are cheap to find and rebuild. If you have troubles, then a good website to go to for repair and advice and it is free........ www.aomci.org (antique outboard motor club inc)

    I think you do a great job. Although I am a dog person , the barking is a little distracting when a person is trying to hang on to every word.(I am not whining about it, just a statement) Thanks for the valuable info.

    Take brass ring off and get the piece the mag mount to and face off in lathe and maybe undercut afew thousands so when you mount the mag plate it will sit flat the points will not jump from play will ladle the accelerate much smoother when tune is done

    Great videos Cajuncookone, my armature plate has some dried grease on the bottom of plate where the plate would sit on the armature plate ring, should some grease be applied when putting back seems like the grease was there for the throttle arm play movement?

    • @cajuncookone
      @cajuncookone  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Molly Lube or Triple Guard (or similar) is fine, but only put a thin layer. Too much grease there could cause ignition fouling.

    my armature plate will move when I pull the starter. I have to hold the throttle twist grip while cranking. I am guessing I need to check the coil clearance on the flywheel. But as I was looking at the armature plate, I was able to move it very easily and it wobbles. I took it off and the retaing ring under the armature support plate looks worn on the ID. Is it supposed to be really loose under the support plate?

    Could I recommend a barking collar? When a dog associates barking with intense pain, the barking ceases.
    Decent video with the exception of the constant barking.

      Well, I could not do much about the neighbor's dog, but he has gotten rid of it since then...lol. Apparently it bothered him too.
      Glad you enjoyed the videos. It was heavily detailed to help others with limited or little experience get those good old vintage motors back on the water. It doesn't have to cost a lot to get simple boat and motor to take your kid fishing. They are just excited to be with you and enjoy the boat ride.
      Cheers and be safe on the water!

    Great job on all the videos. I was wondering if you put grease on the mounting plate where the wear ring is? And if so what kind?

    • @cajuncookone
      @cajuncookone  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Moly lube or Triple guard Lithium base grease. Don't put too much.

    When you put the armature plate back on the crank shaft,does it have to be in any particular position or spot?Was wondering because i was thinking it would effect setting the timing using the hash marks to line up the flywheel for precise timing when using the ohm meter?

    • @cajuncookone
      @cajuncookone  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the video you will notice I make comment about lining up the 2 screws on both side of the magneto plate that secures the magneto plate to the power head. The timing is set with the point set at high point of the points cam. The gap is set at 0.02in using a feeler gauge. If you are using a timing fixture then please refer a separate video I made that details that procedure.

    • @danmcginn772
      @danmcginn772 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      i understand lining up the magneto plate but doesn't it matter what position the plate your bolting it to is in,it moves around freely so does it matter its position before you put the mag plate back on?

    it will kick in once in a while well its running
    any ideas what it might be??
