That "dancing on the knifeedge"-thing is why I had to not listen to Jeff for a while. He made me so uncomfortable as a guitarist and listener; how the hell did he transform an atonal fluke to a perfect new lick that no-one knew how to recreate? I got Jeff Beck'ed.

I agree, isn't it amazing how the singers get knighthoods but not the brilliant guitarists. Jeff Beck is amazing. I also like Keith Richards who is fantastic, both brilliant guitarists but different.
I am so glad I was not there. If Rod Stewart came onto the stage and sang this, unexpected, I would have had such a joy that I would have probably gotten arrested. This Stewart/Beck version of this Curtis Mayfield's song is my fav. I have been a paid musician for 48 years (bass player) and this just gives me goose bumps on the outside and on the inside. I followed the 2022 summer tour of UK and American he seemed a picture of health. Strong, energic, muscular 78 yr young,. Certainly wouldn't know his age by the way he performed, his interviews. The tour ended Nov 2022 and two months later he's left us. Unbelievable. My sincerest condolences to he wife, family and friends.
It was a surprise only to the audience at the El Rey on Wilshire in LA. Jeff & Rod had a rehearsal, though to their credit it sure felt spontaneous. Unfortunately I went the next night, so I missed this magical moment. People in line on my night had heard about Rod’s appearance and we were hoping for a repeat performance, but someone in the know said “John Mayer tonight.” Sure enough, it was.
Great composition by Rod Stewart's awesome voice plus Jeff Beck's master- guitar talking a sweet sound! They don't do music like this much anymore folks! These are True Artists!

God, this took me back. To August 19th 1967. The California Ballroom, Dunstable, England. With a few friends. I was there for one of the earliest gigs by the Jeff Beck Group. Jeff on guitar, Rod Stewart vocals, Ronnie Wood(later to join the Faces with Rod, and then the Stones) on bass, and the thunderous drums of Mickey Waller. They played two sets of half an hour each, and were paid £115 (about $140). I've never forgotten that night. It was incredible and under the low ceiling of the ballroom, f**king LOUD. Jeff arrived for the gig in a bright pink Chevrolet Corvette with Rod, it was all so Rock n' Roll. And here we have the two of them, in the other California, over forty years later belting out "I Ain't Superstitious" off the first album, possibly even better than before. Still hard to take it in that Jeff is no longer with us. The greatest guitar player that ever walked the earth, and by all accounts a real gentleman. Rest in peace.

Wow...wow...wow...I've heard this done by many people..even Joss Stone..she's talented, true, but no many can beat the soul in Rod's voice and Jeff's axe..excellent..
Saw Jeff at FivePoint Amphitheater in Irvine this past Friday night. I finally have my own verification of all the raving I've heard about his shows. He is Paganini with a fine Stradivarius. What puts Rod Stewart on a special list is his respectful, honoring singing of the old standards.
One of the all time great guitar players, it's funny that when they have lists of the all time greats, the people they put ahead of Jeff, it's comical, Keith Richards ahead of Jeff Beck, come on.

I was lucky enough to see the original Jeff Beck Group loads of times at the Manor House in the 60s. I saw Hendrix, Cream, Fleetwood Mac, Ten Years After, etc. but these were the greatest!
Far out, . Did you see the Yardbirds there too?
Wow...wow...wow...I've heard this done by many people..even Joss Stone..she's talented, true, but no many can beat the soul in Rod's voice and Jeff's axe..excellent..
Rest in Peace! The father of all guitarists!
Thank God this s was captured on video! These guys are part of the great duo's of my generation like Phil and Don, Sam and Dave, Jeff and Rod Geeeeze!
I wish both Rod and Jeff would do a new album or new CD!!!! Or an EP that has blues and old rockabilly covers!!!!☺☺☺🎼☺🎶🎹🎸🎸🎷🎷
I remember both of them from my Eeel Pie Island days. Jeff was with a band called the Night Shift and Rod was with Long John Baldry's band.
They complimented each other so well as musicians, and friends, brothers keeper... Bless you both , RIP Ronnie Lane
Ronnie Lane indeed!!!!!
Complement.
Makes no sense. the best 3 all served their time with Yardbirds in the 60s Clapton, Beck & Page
@@johndunn4162 Hendrix not in that group? But I totally agree about Beck. He’s so overlooked and if you ask people like Page or Brian May they think Jeff’s on an entirely different level than even themselves.
I 💯 agree
Jeff is the favourite guitar player to everyone’s favourite guitarists. For the most part the people who appreciate him properly are guitar players
@@nickcollier8622 Jimmy Page & Brian May are correct in their observation.
Jeff some of my best memories are firmly connected with you and they will remain so forever. I know someday in eternity we will see each other again. 🙂🥲
Words fail me! This is just so indescribably great!
The amount of talent on this stage is something else!
Don't forget - Rod was not only in the Faces but also in the Jeff Beck group for awhile.
Great music .....
All one can say is, WOW THAT WAS FREAKING AWESOME, AMAZING Playing ▶️ 👏 🙌 🎉❤Jeff was simply Otherworldly 😳😳
The worlds finest guitarist has departed. Rest in peace Jeff.
