How to Find BLM Camping on Google Maps

- You can use Google Maps to help find free BLM camping. We also use another app called "FreeRoam" to identify where BLM land boundaries are, then switch over to Google Maps to explore dirt roads and trails to find boondocking and free campsites. Hands down the most useful video ive seen on TH-cam regarding BLM land and how to find it, been looking for something like this for MONTHS since I got out the military. THANK YOU!!!

Thank you for showing how to find places to camp for free and how to use Google map search for different sites. Also there are certain symbols that I don’t know what they are but after watching your channel I learned what the layer symbol is used for in this application. 👍

Very awesome tutorial. I happen to live in southern Idaho so it was great seeing it with local land marks too.
The blm also has a mapping tool showing land ownership and developed recreation areas on it's website, though it doesn't have all the other details of freeroam. Looks like a neat tool. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for this. Looking for a spot in the Uintahs about 2 hrs from us, for our first boondocking adventure. Just bought an older bumper pull camper & this will be our first trip out.

@@RoadPickle your vid helped a lot. We just got back from 4 days of dispersed camping in the Uintahs, got a great campsite on USFS land and used your tutorial to find our spot. The trailer was great. Learned a few things for next time. Would love to learn more about how long you stay out, how long your water tank, black tank, etc lasts & how you plan your trips with those things in mind (If you're planning to make more videos). How do we find areas we can go target shooting?
It is the policy of the Bureau of Land Management to allow recreational target shooting on public lands as long as such activity is permitted by federal, state, and local laws. During fire season some areas may be closed to target shooting, exploding targets, and fireworks. If you have questions on areas that may be appropriate, contact your local BLM office.
Can you use a Garmen to navigate to BLM land?

I went on the App Store. I can’t find free roam. Only free roam city😊
Using hi tech is great but a physical map cant be beat. There are several publications that provide all BLM lands in aii states plus alaska. GPS coordinates are also provided.

You don't. At that point, you have to trust your instincts and memory, and just go bravely into that dark place.

It depends on the state. California lets you shoot on BLM land almost no questions asked.
You should consult the regional BLM field office first. If you are shooting, please remember to take your spent cartridges with you when you leave. I have seen so many otherwise beautiful campsites littered with shell casings by irresponsible shooters on public lands.

I just saw another channel share that BLM lands are being closed in record numbers. Is it time for an update video?
That's probably due in part to squatters setting up house for permanent habitation on public land and making messes. You can always check with the regional office by phone or online.
