I remember back in the early or mid 70's the state of Illinois flooded the Kaskaskia river near my father's hometown of Patoka Il to form lake Carlisle ......well the lake cut across my uncle farm, they flooded it and yrs later it drained dramatically like over night, and my uncle's old farm was exposed and there were hundreds of shallow pools full of catfish, bass and other fish My dad and many cousins used pitch forks and loaded up the back of pick up trucks They drank a lot of beer that night and cleaned fish all night
I've been watching your channel for 2 years now and the things you can do where you live like yo yo fishing or if you catch a fish not hooked in the mouth you can't keep it even if it will die being folly hooked you still have to throw it back in if it dies.I would say 50% of the lakes in Wisconsin are spring fed and most lakes in order to keep a muskie it's at least got to be 50 inches long and the majority of the lakes are 54 inches long which means you can actually have the head on one side of your boat and a tail on the other side of your boat and I'm 61 years old and have never caught a muskie long enough to be a keeper although I mainly fish for bluegills perch and walleye. I really enjoy your channel and actually used to be a member but I would ask you guys questions and you wouldn't answer but it was during a time you just found out they were draining your leak and I can understand that. Its my opinion which ya know what they about opinions but you 2 have the best fishing utube channel there is and I believe it all has to do with your true dedication to what you love and live so God bless and sharp hooks.
Hi Cole, Jay, Cyprus and Summer That is so sad. Catch what fish yall can. Clean them and put them in the freezer Hopefully the lake will be better when they fill it up. Nice fish God bless and love yall ❤❤
Have you ever tried the XPS Tail Spin lure from Bass Pro? It's a multi-species bait and I usually use it for targeting crappie but it will catch bass and stripe with ease. I usually go with the 1/4oz or 1/2oz (terrified of the 3/4oz since it's a sinking lure). I do however change out the treble hooks that come on them with a #6 treble hook. The spinner can become a problem at times because of the way they're manufactured by paint restricting the barrel swivel to turn freely...but can be easily fixed by removing excess paint from around the swivel section.
I fish Caney creek almost everyday and sometimes the dam at mayflower , people are keeping the fish so its starting to run low. what's the best way to access these spots !!! on the hunt for my p.b I can use a yak but walking is the easy option for me
If that little pond is your land I would take a trackhoe and dig it out to about 20 ft deep put up a good levy on it and fish the heck out of it of course I would stock it first
If it were my lake property, I'd find out how much of the drained property was mine to use (a lot of time surveys will say "to water's edge"), research the regulations, devise a 10-year makeover plan, and attempt to excavate out my area to make a prime fishing habitat when the lake comes back. All that "muck" is fantastic gardening material. It would just be a missed once in a lifetime opportunity not to attempt to remake the place better than before it was drained.
Bottom silt and other construction. One thing to consider , when the time comes to refill the lake . They decide to destroy the dam and keep the river and swamp as it was naturally. Government is doing it everywhere.
@@Philc231the environmentalists push a lot of negative stuff. Like wanting to kill off the fruit trees and big game animals in Hawaii to "save native species" that end being bugs and weeds.
When these dam removal repair events happen, most fish left are either relocated by locals to stock ponds or fished hard for meat whatever dies gets eaten by wild animals.....no waste....not to mention Creek will still be there even if lake is gone
I jsut don't get what the game and fish and the corp of engineers is trying to do. What do they think they are trying to accomplish except make the entire lake bed fill up with Birch and Willow trees. How is this draining of the lake supposed to help it??? I just don't get it. Is there anyone out there in youtube land with any insight???
@@jack03111969 OK, that makes sense. I just couldn't understand the reasoning for doing what they did just to let the entire lake bed grow up in trees.
Be careful is seining fish legal there? Not legal here in Michigan, matter of fact a throw net is illegal here. You can’t have a net over 12 inch diameter in possession on a trout stream either. No jug lines, trot lines or those yo-yo thing lines you guys use. It is also illegal to have a hook with a weight attached to it on a trout/salmon stream, creek, lake etc.
If you have any plans on living there for a while then you'd be a moron to not invest in that dock. Repair and expand it. Who needs a 10 yard long dock when you can have a 50 yard long dock
@@COLE_and_JAY was wondering a bit about that. Clearly have no idea how it works. But yeah fix that up and expand as much as you can tbh. The water and fish will come back.
The spade things are arrowroot. The roots have a nice flavor and are used like corn starch to thicken stuff.

Conway was a great fishery. It will be again someday. It's cool seeing the drone footage.
Drain the lake and they have not started their lake project after 8 months, what's the problem???

If the bass is trapped. Then the crappie and panfish are trapped.
A good panfish video in the making. Panfish trapped, rescue and fry lol
Time to do some carp fishing.
Method feeders.
Hair rigs.
Fake corn.
Panko bread crumbs.
Can of sweet corn.
Strawberry jello mix.
Maybe use this same set up for you Bass Turnaments. Looks like it is working really well. Love you all ❤
Looked like a good day of fishing to me . Great video Cole and Jessica.
That plant you showed is duck potato

Surprised both by how empty the area looks and by all the fish you got. Great fun I'm sure.
Good work Bro
Awesome video so sad about the lake

Yes, scoop them up 👏👏👏
Hope that tall grass doesn’t create a rat infestation problem. Guess the snakes will keep them thinned out👍
We need more giant spillway videos I love them
❤ Pretty bass😊
Be a nice catfish hole when lake gets refilled😊
Never heard why they are draining the lake is it to repair the dam or what still got alot of nice fish there .
Have you guys looked into a property tax reduction
since you no longer have lakefront property?

All that grass looks very snakie.
Cole dont even fight the fish he just hydroplanes them across the water🤣🤣🤣
I used to seine minnows out of a creek and take them to the gravel pit and grandmas pond
I would love to seena seine fishing video
Might consider getting a airboat.
Has the state waived creel limits on this lake?
love yalls videos
Hey Cole I just got my first kayak Im wondering which ramp I can put in thiz wknd n catch some bluegill... Help plz lol
Need to do a bowfin catch and cook
If only you could dig out a lil fishin spot in front of the dock!
I think the lake will come back better
All the rain we keep getting it’s not going to dry up
Awesome
Is the lake going to be filled back up?
What do they plan on doing with the lake
August it will be dry as a desert out there
Maybe even sooner then that by mid or late July it will be dry by then
Are you able to catch fish from the same lake and release them in the water off your dock?

Shame the lake is drying up. 😢
What was the reason that they drained the lake?
You need to get you a set of scales
When's clean up commence?
Man his ask an answering his own questions
what swim bait are you using??? make ? model? color?
Better watch out for that gator. 🎅 Santajerry
The shoes you are wearing, do you wear them surf fishing? If so, how are they? Do they stay on well or get loose on your feet?
They stay on very well. I wear them anytime I go wading in water.
@COLE_and_JAY cool. Ive been looking for some for when I go down to the gulf.
I know you mentioned it but what is the reason for them draining the lake?

The faces you make 😂😂
Bib 👍🏻. Cole what kind of work are they going to do to your lake ? They should lower your taxes now that there is no lake.
What is going on with the lake? They start working on it.
You need to throw out a bunch of jug lines
Have you seen the gator
Sane that hole let's go
Get a pump and pump the water so it don’t stand. They have battery operated once.
Cole how do you get to the water from main dock point?
If I where you I'd do some dock repair vidios while the water is down..I'd watch be nice to see what kind of maintenance is needed for a dock.
We couldn't see it. Your big Paul's is in the way the camera
We out here we out here we there is no we I don't see. We we's probably back at the house
❤
what happened to your allagator, did it leave or did it die?
I think there's still some gators out there
Let's goooooo
To me it looks like that lake was extremely shallow to begin with.
Do you plan on feeding the fish
What lake is this
Lake Conway, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission lake south of Conway, AR.
WHY ARE THEY DRAINING ALL THESE LAKES.
I've been curious for a 7/8 months are they going to pipe The Creeks as well I wouldn't think so
I hope not
why are they draining lake?
I hit the bell but haven't got up dated with your videos
Sad very sad
Yukky look mess they've made out of Lake Conway
It’s criminal I tell ya Cole . These people need to be prosecuted for cruelty.
Cole, why dont you play the fish? You fish like you're in a tournament.
You have 5 years correct ?
I do not understand why you would throw fish back that are trapped. Why not keep them and freeze them? They are just going to die anyway.
Why did they drain the lake? Are they fixing something?Do they do this every so many years?
To fix the dam and to clean it up it’s like a 7 year project
I hate when they do something to a beautiful fishery a nice lake and wipe it out.
If the fishes are trapped, why throw them back? As the water dries , they will die.
Time to start stocking ponds. I would load up all my local ponds and small lakes.

They are gonna do repair work to the dam clean up the lake dig out the channels that have silted in it’s like a 7 year project

This state is not a liberal nut state like Michigan we still have freedoms left here
Yeah I had to tell some guy he couldn't set jugs out in one of our local ponds, it's illegal in Florida.
Since the state is draining the lake they cancelled all limits at that lake.
If you have any plans on living there for a while then you'd be a moron to not invest in that dock. Repair and expand it. Who needs a 10 yard long dock when you can have a 50 yard long dock
They won't let you have a 50 yard long dock on this lake haha. Going to be repairing the weak spots on this one though
@@COLE_and_JAY was wondering a bit about that. Clearly have no idea how it works. But yeah fix that up and expand as much as you can tbh. The water and fish will come back.
Change the thumb nail
Why don't you take the fish home and eat them, or place them in another lake, they will perish if you leave them?
Sounds like a winner to me , your idea
