Couldn't agree more with you both. Chug Bug is my go-to but I also restore and refurbish older and beat up Hula Popper and Jitterbug lures. Money baits for me
30 plus years ago I got to fish fort louden and tellico in the middle of the cicada “hatch”….amazing time. Caught 5lb smallmouth and probably 20 nice carp on torpedoes…unforgettable trips.
The sounds of the birds and other life all around you, and the beauty of that lake were incredible! It's time for a 4k camera! ...I sure miss catching big bass like you caught in this video. Those carp were pretty epic also. I love my ultra lite and catching bluegill and crappie on lite tackle, but, I still would love to catch some nice bass again. Maybe I'll find a good pond soon. Great video. Hope you get another chance to do that before the Cicada bite is over! Blessings!
Heddon torpedoes have been in my box for 50yrs, love 'em. We catch carp on mulberry flies under trees dropping fruit this time of year. Great video man!
A bit of wind going on there ! Those bass were really nice ! No cicadas in S.E Kentucky, but REAL plentiful in North Georgia, where my daughter lives. I've never caught carp on a lure before, catfish yes, but never carp. That looked like a lot of fun. Always love seeing the WORD at the end. Pap Blevins
When I was in high school, there was a cicada hatch. I remember catching multiple species on a little Rebel Crawfish. That was an extremely fun few weeks.
Great video, I had a spot close to the house when I was in high school, I'd go down and catch sunfish and small catfish all day long, my mom didn't really believe me when I told her I'd probably catch a hundred fish, but one day her friend asked us to go out fishing, so she could show me how it was done... We fished off a fishing dock. I got into a school of white bass. And couldn't keep my line in fast enough. My mom's friend got skunked, never took me out again. Made a believer out of my mom. I do that alot, but these days if there are kids about, with parents permission, I always give them my pole and let them catch the fish. To me, that's more fun than catching them myself
what an great privilege , do what you love for a living , thanks your videos , to me they are relaxing and chill , feels like I'm right there with you fishing , and hello from Miami , FL 🌴
I toldly agree catching any type of fish is fun and sometimes you can have a better time if you can just be happy catching some fish as well as the type of fish you are trying to catch great video thank you
Sometimes the simple things will surprise you! I was struggling to get a bite going last weekend so I rigged up a Nikko Hellgrammite on a thin (1) wide gap hook and threw it. It sits just about an inch or two under the surface. Just a twitch or two and BAM! Man, it was fire! I caught a ton of bass, green sunfish and giant bluegill on it. It was a real game changer!
I caught a 60+ pound buffalo when I was fishing in Missouri, last September! And I’ve got the photo of me after an hour long fight , holding this big ol fish , and we’re both covered in blood and I’m all cut up from falling during the fight, soaked and covered in fish slime 😂
Dude, them were some nice bass.. the ol Dinger never fails..same colors you were using too..and I've found a couple of secret magic colors😂perfect for my area in the Flint. Woo Fish on.
Most Americans have no idea how popular carp fishing is in the rest of the world! We also have one of the best carp reservoirs here in TN at Dale Holow. It’s one of the few lakes in America with both giant Common & Mirror carp. The “Outdoor Boys” channel did a camping video there & caught a bunch in the 20lb-36lb range off the bank!
@@CreekFishingAdventures , check out Luke from “Outdoor Boys “ older channel “Catfish & Carp”. He goes into detail about his carp rigs. He catches most of his fish with a pack bait made from sweet corn, panko crumbs & strawberry jello mix.
John, what are you using to get your underwater shots on release? Just the iPhone sticking only the camera portion in? Or are you using a GoPro that’s not mounted I would assume? Thanks I always love the underwater release shots
Used to favor the six inch blue Mann's fire tail. The bass loved it.l think you are right. The color is nor so important. However, the confidence l had helped me fish better.
I was watching another fishing video. They were catching like crazy by using the Cicadas they found. The catfish were swarming on the surface eating the Cicadas on the water.
i prefer 4 inch dingers too but still if i find a few i use 5 inch.i iust ordered the sugar plum in 4 but i opened up pkg and there 5 in.the idrrs loojs good.i bought the bama bug a few yds back and still no bass on it
You have any tips on keeping your fish on the board or even in your kayak? Had 3, on the board, and I couldn't get a Pic including a 19.5. Had a rough weekend.
I love fishing, and I enjoy catching a lot of things, but... I have never been interested in catching a carp. Bass, Bream, and Catfish are my go-to in fresh water. I would rather catch a Pickerel or Gar than a Carp any day. 😅😂
Big bass on Cicadas I Massed and bass that snap and 6 pound test on Cicadas. Also and 10 and half to 11 inch bulegill. Big catfish, Crappie, trout, and everything. There is people that eat cacaites am not going to eat cacaites.
Was that melton hill lake, hopefully i can make the creek team in the knuckle head challenge. If i win the month of july does that mean i make the team
Tiny torpedo is a great lure. And if you like fishing creeks near sundown try a black Jitterbug...or black Hula Popper. Those old lures still work.
My favorite is the CHUG BUG

Rebel makes a micro crank called the Cicada now. I have one cicada pattern and one one junebug.
That first catch at 3:10 was angler artistry. Beautiful job!!
What a beautiful place ...one can spend a few hours there and i bet they wil feel like minutes. Thanks for sharing John

it can be a real struggle sometimes, i put my net beside the board in tournaments
As healthy as all those bass in the creek looked, I reckon the sunfish population back there would have to be pretty healthy, too.
Wild carp is a delicacy here in Europe, try it sometimes...
its wild.. in southern Ky no cicadas
At the 10 minute mark looked like a big one swam right by your kayak
there was a lot of sucker fish swimming around

yes several times, usually in the winter
