Weird. I've owned roughly a dozen K5's and not one of them had factory recovery points like every new Jeep and Bronco comes with from the factory.
Not to mention any one of my Jeeps will out wheel any K5 I ever owned or built. Even the ones with big blocks, one ton axles, etc...

We had one in the shop a few weeks back, impact on the RR tire, didn't even damage the rim. Bent the rear axle housing and the Panhard bar. You could SEE the camber on the RR wheel due to the bent axle housing, and the whole axle assembly was displaced an inch and a half to the left due to the pretzeled Panhard bar. Plus, the immense inertia of the huge beadlock wheel/tire combo hanging on the rear gate bent the body shell where the gate hinges attach. Offroad vehicle, eh? Nah, just a lookit-me!!! mall-crawler.

They're still a light duty SUV under the cool looking body. Really only made for very mild offroading from the factory. Even with the special packages that come with the bigger tires and such.
I don't get the number of people that spend $50k on an SUV to turn around and spend another $20K modifying it to almost be good offroad. It's like the side by sides people dump crazy money into for them to still break all the time. For the money spent could just end up with an offroad buggy or a much more purpose built rig.

all offroad vehicles will have parts break, when used in extreme conditions like an offroad park.
that's why people beef up their vehicles to handle those situations, plus to replace the weak parts that the federal government forces auto makers to use to meet the MPG requirements. but a stock IFS vehicle should know their limitations. they are not a Jeep.

Folks with the bronco’s…. Do the upgrades to the front end before you take it off pavement, they don’t completely eliminate the piss poor design issue but they do make it slightly more reliable… that or just carry the parts and tools to replace everything about every 100 yards or so.

@@billymack4606 the front end of these things are a known issue, the one bronco I was around (the neighbors) broke twice just bouncing down his driveway on the snow and ice. Every other vehicle he’s had somehow has managed the “treacherous” 150 feet but not this pos. As for what brand, you are correct they all suck, doesn’t matter make model or quality anything manufactured since 2004 ish is designed to fail. They’ve decided that heated/cooled seats and enough video games and unnecessary contraptions are more important than actually being useable in an off road environment (or anywhere besides the mall for that matter)

Wish they still made the same Bronco that they made back in the 60s. They could add a CD player, but all of that other computer driven nonsense serves no real purpose in my opinion other than driving up costs. I own a compass and can land navigate. It was a good machine and you could work on it yourself. We put many muddy miles behind the main levee of the mighty Mississippi river on them with no complaints. Yes one had to grease bearings, and all that goes with water and mud but they did pull and hold up. The old International Scouts with a little help did quite well also. The Jeep was always there. We even had them from Korea War days.

Looks like a busted steering rack. Can’t believe they put a rack and pinion steering system under these. I’ve seen a few bust like this. They need to have an old school drag link set up that you can at least beef up like a Jeep Wrangler, of course it needs a straight axle too.. I’m sure there is a heavier rack out there but how much better is it. I wanted one until I saw how weak the front end was on them.

I’ll stick with my 1969 Chevy K30 and anyone of my square body trucks that I have for sure!!! One thing I do no is if I did own one of the new ford bronco’s I would definitely upgrade the tie rods before I ever would go taking it off road for the first time for sure!!! It is one of a few weak links that they definitely should have upgraded before even selling them!!! I have a 2007 Duramax and those are also supposed to have weak tie rods but I ordered some upgraded PPE tie rods for it the first day I bought the truck and I have yet to break one yet!!!

If you can't do it with out damaging it leave it alone, it will coast you more than you will make on the recovery and tow, you need a wheel lift or a rollback for these vehicles today,, in this situation a wheel lift integrated with the boom would help a lot,
