We love Osaka. We have been twice. And are going back again for Christmas. 🎄. The difference in Osaka and Tokyo. In Tokyo you could ask someone on the street for help and they will ignore you. People keep to themselves. In Osaka, more than once we were standing on a corner looking lost and people that didn’t even speak English would stop and try to help. I just love the people of Osaka.
I am korean. For me, definitely Tokyo. I understand that there are huge energy and vibe in Osaka, but as korean I am bit of familiar with those, not fresh. I think that you can see those type of vibes(more vigorous, dynamics, bit of uncoordinated, like flee market) in a lot of cities especially in asia. On the other hand, you can see very distinct vibes in Tokyo, which is unique, calm, tidy while you can also see the vibes like Osaka in like Shibuya. You got more options in Tokyo depending on your aesthetic preference. For last but not least thing, average food quality is better in Tokyo(you should definitely agree with this). I mean, 'average'

I’m from Osaka! I love both cities. There are more “locals” in Osaka while Tokyo attracts a lot more tourists and also, Japanese peeps who want to be in a big city who would come from more suburban/country side of Japan. So, there’s lot more to do in Tokyo. Osakan Japanese (as a language) also has a strong dialect and people are more colorful in good and bad ways compare to ppl in Tokyo. 😆 I love both cities and appreciate you for enjoying them so much!
Haven’t had the opportunity to get to Osaka yet but have been to many smaller Southern Japanese cities. From what I’ve heard from friends Osaka is a mix of the laid back feeling of southern Japan with the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. So I think that’s why you like it. Definitely a must for me on my next Japan trip. Glad you guys enjoyed it!

I love love Osaka. The Swissotel Nankai Hotel located directly above Namba Station is a great place to stay if you're visiting the Dotobori area mainly. Thanks for taking us along!

I’ve been to Kyoto and it is more nature and cultural. I will be traveling to Osaka in Dec and will visit city of Nara and Kobe
they dont speak japanese its much easier to find and do when you speak japanese. Thats how tabieats for example find many authentic places. Zane sticks to the very touristy dotonbori and chugs 2 litre of boozy drinks. the man can drink!
A classic cafe serving traditional Japanese style sweet pancakes, "hotcakes = hotto ke-ki," topped with butter and syrup, and coffee are also recommended.
In Japan, there are no casinos, but instead we have "pachinko." It's not obvious from the outside, but unlike game centers, people silently play pachinko at pachinko machines. There are always several pachinko parlors in busy areas. The inside of the stores is extremely noisy. You win by collecting a large number of small silver iron balls (pachinko balls). At the back of the store, there is a place where you can exchange the silver iron balls for cash. Since most people exchange them for cash, it is essentially a casino. In Japan, they are like legal casinos. In Japan, horse racing, bicycle racing, boat racing, and auto racing are gambling, and there are also pachinko, mahjong, etc. These are legal.
In both Osaka and Tokyo, there are restaurants that offer "all you can drink" and "all you can eat". These restaurants have a time limit of about three hours and are all-you-can-eat. They mainly serve meat dishes such as yakiniku and shabu-shabu, but they also serve seafood such as sushi. There is also a system where you can drink all you want alcohol for an additional 2,000 yen. I think these "all you can drink" and "all you can eat" options are probably unique to Japan, so please look it up and give it a try.
I think zane is dangerous with "all you can drink" he seemed to drink a lot. dont make him an alcoholic. it is too readily available in konbini, many japanese I know have a drinking problem
Osaka was my favourite city of all cities in Japan. It's big and diverse but not too spaced out like Tokyo. It's not too crowded like Tokyo except for Dotonbori and touristy areas. It's got very laid-back vibes compared to Tokyo. Still many amazing food options, like Tokyo. The people are friendlier and more laid back than in Tokyo.

When I was in Japan I preferred Osaka but when I think back it's Tokyo as my favourite just because Tokyo is so big and there's so many places to go to. I'd read that Osaka wasn't very good so my expectations were low but I was really nicely surprised, I loved Osaka!
I eat shrimp but I acknowledge that it's kinda weird. Hard to go to Osaka and not eat seafood. Great tour of the city, thanks for sharing this with us. BTW, I think it's great you're filming with Bambi, it's nice seeing a travel companion.

Many foreign tourists seem to get off at Shin-Osaka and transfer to the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, but you can still get to Namba by using the JR line.
