If yours has the same power per cc as this bike I would imagine the extra 25cc and wide ratio 5-speed work out pretty decent together. I have ridden one like yours, carb’d xt250 before but didn’t get it on the highway. I was impressed with it as far as I could tell in the short time I rode it
6 speed and the small drive gear is 15 tooth ,my carb is not a mikuni those have loads of issues. Also looking for better cdi adjustable. Exhaust muffler is 💯 percent free flow.tail pipe 1 and 3/8 .just giving her a new paint job . Epoxy paint by glass shield. I have 4 different colors for frame and rear sway arm.
My xt 225 I bought 5 performance parts ,including a new stage 2 carburetor, new higher reving cam rocker arms kit. Gears transmission I changed 2.gears for.better ratio.revs high doesn't lack power. No.restrictor plates no.baffle.tube. I just need 3.things left.before I finish new paint job xt225 1998 power.like.a.250. My last bike was 1981 xt550 1981
I just got the suspension parts installed in my latest video, eventually get smaller blinkers and better skid plate and I think that’s all I will do to mine, muffler has already been gutted or de-baffled to some extent by the previous owner and I’ve tuned the air fuel mixture screw on the carb. I think they run great 👍
There are all kinds mods for these bikes. Guess you haven't owned very long. There are foot peg upgrages, carb, sprocket upgrades, seat, shock and suspension upgrades . I recently bout a 2007 xt225 in Arizona for $1800. I purposely looked fot this over a xt250 or tw200, kawasaki klr250, honda crf 250 because it is way lighter, has kick starter not reliant on a starter motor and battery. able get good power out of it for my rural colorado mountains, high mpg in 70s. and i can hitch carry it on any vehicle even a small toyota matrirx.
I’ve only had it a couple months, have already done cogent front suspension springs and 15w oil, just need larger pegs and to recover the seat and it’ll be good for awhile, eventually I’ll get the larger tank
You can bump start FI bikes. In any case the XT225 is a great bike. The FI on the 250 will surprise you in how much more responsive it is though Where you at in AZ btw? I was born in PHX and lived in Payson, Florence , Casa Grande and Tucson.
@crypticreality8484 yes you can bump start an FI bike but if the battery is dead enough to not prime the fuel pump it near impossible to do unless you have a long steep hill or tow it behind a vehicle, atleast that’s the way it was on my Honda I had in the past. But yes it’s possible, just not as easy if the battery is dead enough to not prime
Tbe stock dr200 is slow as molasses with the exception of the 86 model. A carb swap and modded exhaust will transform the dr200 completely. It's completely nerfed to meet emission requirements. At the wheel I think its 15hp or so.
Back when I had mine I feel like I had found a dyno showing like 12.8hp but I could be mis remembering 🤷🏼♂️ but either way, you are right, it’s a turd in stock form power wise
@@DirtRider22a yes I faintly remember seeing 13hp as well. Does the XT225 come with similar restrictions like in the exhaust? Does it use vaccum carburator?
Those old XT225's are legendary little mountain goats! I sure wish my XT250 had a kickstart and a 6th gear. 😉👍 --QM

@@JayHamilton-cl9yb sounds more like a ghetto cruiser...
I appreciate the honest review boss man.
XT225 is the Willy's jeep of the motorcycle world. With the right tires it will go pretty much anywhere as long as you are not in a hurry.
Damn bro. I appreciate those riding skills. haha. That's exactly the type of riding I want to see!
I have a 1996 low miles. I'm 6'1 225lbs and can get 70 mph but the bike is not happy about it. Max cruising happily for my bike is 55-60 mph. Thanks!

Suzuki actually claimed 14 hp on the dr200
I was just going off of google numbers, 20hp at 8,500 and 13.3ft-lb at 7000 but 14hp sound more right to me

You know if there is much difference between XT and TTR bikes?
Not sure what all the differences may be
What mirrors are those? Like them over the stock.
No clue, were on it when I got it. Sorry

@@Rocketman0407 no vacuum petcock, exhaust might be a little restricted but mine has already been modified when I got it
@@DirtRider22a what carburator does it have? Its pretty much a road legal version of a ttr225 right? I can't find any xts in my area.
@@Rocketman0407 mikuni I believe but not sure of the exact model, I would have to do some google research
For pegs you can get a set of DMO Specialties. Made for the xt225... huge improvement and fits the weird stock right hand mount.
I’ll look into that, thanks!
