- The Puma Deviate Nitro Elite has always been one of the best value carbon plate running shoes available, and with the third version Puma are aiming to make it one of the best full stop, with the new shoe offering a higher stack of a bouncier foam while being lighter than its predecessor. Mike and Nick have been out for a first run in the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3; here’s their initial thoughts on the shoe.

Nobody is going to mention how great this shoe looks?
that is default already hehe
I personally think Puma has created a winning range with the deviate series, but I believe they never intended to make elite only shoes. They may not have the all out speed of some of the pure race shoes but they're amazingly versatile which for the intermediate runner is ideal. The pricing and design strategy in my mind will ensure you will see more and more Pumas on people's feet for a few years.
You should add a reviewer with wide foot and wide midfoot to have a representation for such runners.
Puma are killing the running game at the moment great shoes, i still have the velocity 2 so comfy!!
I just bought elite 2s a month ago and Im fixing to buy these bad boys.
I’ve been waiting for this!!
I am tempted, but going to wait for the metaspeed paris to come back in stock i think.
There is a similarity here to when Saucony went from the Endorphin Pro 2 to Pro 3. The Nitro Elite sounds firmer than the Pro 3 with better grip!
I’m so happy for Puma how they pull this nitro midsole on which based all range of running shoes after. I have Velocity 2 & 3, and Magnify 2 - all perfect. Now I’m looking to buy Deviate as well to form the nice Puma trinity.
Great video, thanks! In terms of versatility, how would you rank this vs. the Saucony Pro 4, please?
Any views on how this compares to Takumi Sen 10 and Saucony Pro 3?
It's interesting that the reviewer of the DV8 Nitro 3 was underwhelmed by that shoe but loves this the "Elite" version. So I guess I will be buying the Elite version.
Very intrigued by this shoe, just wrecked my vaporfly's and wanted to replace them with assics metaspeeds sky, but this seems to be in the same playfield. Choices choices 😅
Of there's more of a rocker and the carbon plate is more of a drop in the forefoot from the mid area, than the edge Paris is closer whereas the sky plate stays closer to the foot throughout the entire foot. More cushion in the front under the plate for the sky and more cushion in the front under the foot for the edge. I chose the sky as it allowed me to run my "natural" gait.
Closest to Vaporfly for me is the Hoka Rocket X2
That's my wife's running shoe 😂
Thanks for clarifying what the foam is. But is it also used in the upper layer of the regular deviate nitro 3?
The top layer in the DN3 is Nitro Elite, but the previous version, so Peba, not the aliphatic TPU used here
Elite 2 had a removable inner sole which was rare among carbon racers and hence allowed orthodics when coming back from injury. Does the Elite 3 also have a removable inner?
No it’s now fixed.
Do we need size down? In Asics shoes in have to
I want them just for their looks and I am sure I can't go wrong with them at that price for a guy who races once maybe twice a year just for fun.
Can you compare this with Endorphin Pro 4 and a few comments about using on 42k distance at marathon pace. EP4 seems like a super accommodating super shoe, but is this as well?
Yes. This is faster though.
I like the channel but do you have guys that are frontfoot strikers that are doing the reviews?
@@edrios3668 Thanks for the answer.
These or Endorphin Pro 4 for a 10k ?
The web site says 10mm drop?
Deviate nitro 3.. Low cost version.. Of elite. My question... For daily training.. Deviate nitro 3.. Is good choice ❓
Maybe wait for the review of the deviate and see what they say... It coming soon.
@@Larsschmidt14i’m waitin for kofuzi’s 100mile on it😅
Deviate Nitro 2 looks better i think. Dvn2 8mm drop dvn3 10mm drop and the pumagrip
You both are comparing the Nitro 3 to the Nitro 1. Those are not the Nitro 2s. The Nitro 2s had the Nitro Elite tag in the middle, not in the back.

My apologies, I was looking at the Deviate Nitro 2 whereas you all had the Deviate Nitro Elite 2. Tricky tricky
That nitro logo is horrendous 😢
Puma have come out of nowhere to be amongst my favourite running shoes but why they insist on slapping that awful looking billboard of a nitro logo on the side is beyond me. Looks arent that important so long as the shoe performs well but something about that massive NITRO logo is really offputting.
