I'm still shocked that the Sonic Movie actually turned out decent. Even with the redesign I thought the movie would just be a boring cash grab.

I've had a good feeling after the redesign, I was thinking like yes this is much better much more like Sonic. As a matter of fact that became my favorite movie of 2020. I adore the Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

Agreed. I’ll bet those execs at Paramount were expecting the audience to not notice the difference as they did with 2014’s Ninja Turtles, but we all cried foul on Sonic’s initial design. Director Jeff Fowler actually understood how bad it was!

Was interested in this video the moment I saw Sonic in the thumbnail!
This is one of those rare occasions where the filmmakers actually LISTENED to us fans to have such an atrocious creation be redone to how we should be seeing him. Director Jeff Fowler did it right. For a live-action video game film, that streak of bad reviews involving a so-called “curse” is broken with this and Detective Pikachu.
Let's not forget, Doom: Eternal released the same day as Animal Crossing, and gave us some of the most amazing, adorable crossover memes and fan art.

When Final Fantasy VII Remake got revealed I had never felt so nostalgic and excited in my life.
I still can't get over it. Chris Pratt as Mario... Every time I think about it, I can't help but laugh. It's just too hilarious to me
Haha, yeah. I thought it was weird too. But I will reserve judgement. This will be a Mario we haven't seen before, and Charles Martinet may not have been the best choice. But I'm happy he's being honoured in some capacity. He will forever be the OG voice of Mario!

To be honest...Chris Pratt may seem weird, but it just might work. Pratt has that sort of everyman appeal, so having him voice a character that is technically a blue collar shlub from Brooklyn seems like a good fit.
Personally, I am looking forward to Jack Black as Bowser. (Tenacious D Bowser theme or we riot, movie!)
Personally, I initially thought that the casting of Ryan Reynolds as Detective Pikachu in Pokémon Detective Pikachu was a mistake-because I felt that Bradley Cooper would’ve been a better choice due to his amazing voice work as Rocket in the MCU.
But now every time I see what has become one of my favorite movies, I realize that casting Deadpool himself as the voice of everybody’s favorite English-speaking, coffee-guzzling yellow rodent-like Pokémon sleuth was the right call-he really infused a lot of charm (and snark) into the character!

Pokemon GO's debut was one of the most surreal gaming moments ever. I was 31 and jaded with video gaming. I barely had time for gaming, my backlog was huge, but then this game came out and literally EVERYONE of all ages was playing in my area. It was wild walking around normally quiet streets after 6pm in my area filled with people just trying to walk around and catch Pokemon, including myself. I even drove around and stopped in places to see if I could get any new Pokemon.

I've seen some TH-camrs put animations of DK with Seth Rogen's voice and i have to say it is somewhat fitting even that awkward laugh of his. But of course those are clips of Seth's real voice on the character and i would guess they would try to change it a bit for the actual movie.
This world would not be the same without video games, they've spawned youtube channels, streamers, communities, video games are a beautiful thing. It's a shame most parents hate the thought of them.
This is true. I’ve played many video games in my lifetime and I’m starting to think gameplay helps some people become better human beings, specifically games pertaining to strategy or puzzles.

Hell, I think Marvel’s Spider-Man told a better Spider-Man story than any Spider-Man movie with Peter Parker in the lead.

Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) was a great movie to watched! We hated the trailer of it on 2019! But they delayed to 2020 to redesign the character to make it less realistic! I can't wait for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 coming up soon!

If I had to request an honorable mention, it would be the Sonic 30th Anniversary Symphony stream. The Sonic Fanbase is so diverse that they can never seem to agree on what makes Sonic good and are always divided. But during that stream, as the orchestra and bands played music from all throughout Sonic history, it was the first time in a while where it felt like everyone had finally put aside their preferences for what the series should be, and just came together to celebrate what they loved about the franchise.
People still cares for Sonic, that gives me hope because his recent games has turn people against him.
Sonic will always be my favorite.

Also, Martinet has never spoken real dialogue other than "wahoo" or "it's a me" in Mario games. When you think about it Mario has never spoken any dialogue in video games, even the RPGs. It's obvious that they're gonna have to work out a new voice and shape up his personality. He can't be a one note catchphrase spewing character anymore. Martinet might not be the best choice for that kind of work. It's not JUST about "Hey we got Christ Pratt, buy our tickets". I don't see why he would be a bad choice. At least wait for the trailer.

@@domx7zero157 Martinet has proven that he can voice Mario with real dialogue. He even does it in real time whenever he's invited to answer fan questions. Although I'm not against Chris Pratt as Mario, especially since he's confirmed that he isn't using his regular voice.
Isn't "Hating Sonic", is "Fixing Sonic". Because everyone knew that Sonic isn't that uncanny valley creature in the first trailer, even people knowing the series or not. This show that the public always will be your feedback and your motivation.

WatchMojo is pretty infamous in their disdain for Sonic. Not as much as IGN, but most people know they have something against him and seldomly give praise.
You see, everyone? There is hope! Video game movies are getting better! First Detective Pikachu, then The Angry Birds Movie 2, now Sonic the Hedgehog! They proved that video game movies are worthy of being enjoyed! Give Illumination a chance to experiment with Mario on the big screen, let alone be thankful it's being animated. Seriously, the discrimination to video game movies is worse than any kind of real life racism.
The biggest lie Capcom has ever told was that they were surprised by how "positively" everyone responded to Lady Dimitrescu. This was in a post RE3: Remake Mod world. They have the Internet. They knew. _They knew._

I wasn’t exactly thrilled when the Sonic movie got delayed because of his design, but I’ll be honest - I think his redesign was probably for the better.

That's been the trendy thing to do since 2006, with amateur youtubers making their careers out of ragging on the series.
Some people still think it's trendy. It's pretty crappy how they made their careers out of dumping on one of the two great mascots.

I'll never forget that Summer of 2016. As a Pokemon fan since the very beginning, the way GO took off was insane for me. When I told people that I was going to a Pokemon tournament, most of them thought it was a GO competition because they had never followed the core series video games that kicked off the entire franchise

Characters in MK 2021 should’ve looked more like their video game counterparts.
The only character from that movie that look the part is Sonya Blade. Jessica Mcnamee closely resembles MK9 Sonya.
Having a Top 10 about getting people together and having nothing on Super Smash Brothers is weird. The trailer on "Everyone is here" at e3 brought the whole videogame community together. Just having Sora now made a lot of grown man cry.
Dear god I remember watching the first demo for RE8 and being surprised by vampires but then like 2 hours later I go on Google and see everyone talking about a 9 foot tall lady with 3 foot long claws. It's was glorious.

I will admit that when I saw the trailer for the Sonic movie, I was disgusted when I saw the trailer. I could not believe how they destroyed the Sonic character from the Sega games. I am so glad everyone expressed their views on it and the character got a fresh new coat of paint. I am glad they listened to the Sonic fans so they can image the character the way it was suppose to be. I never want to see the very first trailer so Sonic ever again! It was nightmarish! I now have to talk about the voices they chose for the Mario movie. I thought about them in my head and it doesn't sound right to me. I hope they change the characters of who does the voices because what they chose now, I don't think it's going to work.

It also put the third nail in Sega's hadware coffin after the first (Sega CD) and second (32X) nails were driven in during the Genesis days. The final nail in Sega's hardware coffin would come after the poor sales of the Sega Dreamcast in Japan...Sega would license their games to consoles made by former rivals Nintendo and Sony, in addition to Microsoft's new Xbox console in 2001.

What a worthy follow-up. Starting with something bad and then end it with something good. And the first one on the list was the GameStop stock thing. I was just saying that 2021 seems to be the year of profitable gains and that's good especially since last year it was.....well an economic decrease shall we say. So it's like we bounce back after a terrible year financially mentally Etc finding new ways to make money from this to NFTs, really leaning into online currency. There was hope.

I never played Pokemon Go, I grew a hatred for it because so many people were playing it in my town and they were crowding the streets, let's just say at least 3 days a week for about 2 months my school bus was about 30 minutes late because of it, so I often missed my first class of the day. Not to mention it's all most of my friends cared about for a good while.

A friend if mine back then was very proud of his import PS1, his parents paid something like $500 for it. Then Sony dropped its announcement and the salt was real. It is also funny that that move basically set the tone for Sony's most successful business model to this day: undercutting/riffing/reactive marketing to the competition, and it's paid off in massive dividends for them.

They didn't buy PS1, they buyed PSX. Which was the name of the first Playstation. PS1 was called the first smaller version of Playstation and it dd come out much much later.

PSX referring to the original PlayStation is a name coined by data hoarders/dumpers, originating from the Japan-only PS2-based DVD player.

I still don't believe that was the version of Sonic they ever had ANY intention of having in the final product. There's no way a bunch of animators/designers/execs/whatever could possibly have gotten it THAT wrong, only to totally nail it for the final product.
