26:24 no the biggest reveal in that show was when we found out in the movie that number ones Dad was number zero and that father was his actual uncle and that grandfather was his grandfather. KND coming in with a hit after hit after hit.
One that shocked me in Young Justice was Aqualad in Season 2. The one where they faked someone's death by manipulating the water weapon and then them revealing he's a double agent? Man that was awesome
Was probably her way of reclaiming her freedom as Rapunzel affected every major aspect of her life: lost her mother because Rapunzel had the healing aura, life as a soldier was upended with Rapunzel's return, life as a Bridesmaid rendered obsolete when Rapunzel chose not to marry just yet, and even her one day off to put her soldier skills to the test in a tournament was undone by Rapunzel entering on a whim and advancing - all those years of training with her foster father embarrassingly rendered subpar with Rapunzel's inexperience, luck, and a frying pan. Having someone - a friend - constantly altering your life over and over would drive you mad and want to reclaim the steering wheel of your life.
I honestly think they could've set it up more in the 2nd season, but ultimately it does make sense it went towards that route especially since if Rapunzel grabbed the stone she would've died/left that plane of existence.
The twist was good but I wished her motivations of betraying Rapunzel were better. Instead of throwing a tantrum against a kidnapped baby, she was trying to sacrifice herself to save Corona and Rapunzel, by being her be the vessel to destroy the moon and sun stone, the story would improved so much
The Green Goblin twist in Spectacular Spider-Man was so well done. Even today, I’m sure there were those of us who were just as confused as the characters as to Green Goblin’s true identity. We all had a huge hunch it was Norman, obviously, but the show did such a good job misleading us into thinking it was Harry or someone else.
@@hunterrousseau3770 The tv show came after the first movie, which had Norman as Green Goblin. So people generally expected him to be the Green Goblin.
In a way, it’s just like the Mysterio twist in Far From Home where he obviously is the villain but he doesn’t seem like it for a good chunk of the film

The Terra one bugs me so much. Like they all have powers so they can easily tell she struggles. Robin knows because he pays attention to his team and knows they struggle as well.
OG plot twist was in the 80's when Optimus Prime Died! No one saw that coming, I was their opening night. The crowd went nuts, lights had to come on, parents were angry, kids were crying. It was madness!
I think the person had meant to type "there" but accidentally typed "their", It happens. Also, that is understandable. Seeing our favourite heroes get killed off is always heartbreaking and sad because they're a big part of who we are. Whether it was the first time we saw them or down the line, we look up to these heroes seeing something special about them and it builds us up, gives us hope and when that hero is killed or even hurt in ways we don't realise, it breaks our hearts. Fortunately, there are times when heroes come back to life and see that they are a part of the adventures again. I was a bit of a Wolverine fan, I watched X-Men Evolution and even though the comics are different from the show, the original Wolverine being trapped in Adamantium and dying as a result broke my heart and seeing him appear in another comic made me pretty happy. Not all heroes do come back from the dead but it shows two positive things. One, the heroes who don't come back will finally be in peace and not have to suffer anymore. Two, the heroes who do come back can learn from their death experience and have time to potentially grow as characters and show a side of them that people enjoy.
But the sad thing about the end of Samurai Jack is the fact that because Ashi helped Jack defeat Aku in the past, she winds up being erased from existence because the timeline in which she was born never happened. 😢
I know! That just devastated me! I think they established that Jack was in the future for 50+ years, that's over fifty years stuck in a wasteland away from the family and life he knew (longer than he was previously alive), when he FINALLY finishes his mission, ending up with a woman he loves, and she just disappears. Makes perfect logical sense but what a SAD blow right when it seemed like he could finally be happy. Such a gut punch. (Not sure if it makes a difference, but I never gave Samurai Jack a chance until a few years ago I got a vibe that it was less childish than I had thought, it seemed like it might appeal to me, so I watched it front to back, and JUST finished it around when the return Season 5 came along, so I saw all 5 seasons in a row, back-to-back, essentially catching Season 5 when it was new. So the first 4 seasons were fresh in my mind when I saw all this).
Yeah, don't get me started on that diddy, her helping Jack kill her ancestor before her own birth is a grandfather paradox, technically such an action would mean that she shouldn't have been erased from existence, just an anomaly being sustained by a paradox.
I really liked the one where the gang meets these two pilgrim groups fighting over which of their long-dead leaders was right and in the end it turns out that Aang actually knew the leaders and they were basically two kids fighting in a sandbox.
28:32 the episode subtly foreshadows that Mr. Poopy Butthole is not a parasite. Parasites can only be part of good memories, and he actually appeared in a bad memory.
This wasn’t done perfectly, since a parasite makes a memory where they’re captured by a Nazi. In both Mr. PBH’s and the parasite’s memory, a parasite appears to rescue them from the bad part
@@elderleon1844 not the worst memory, no, but not a good memory either. The family looked annoyed with PB. Compare that to the excited reaction in the family has in the parasite memories (like cousin Nicky that inserted itself into the end of that memory)
I've read an internet theory that he's going to be the main villain in the next season. Evil Morty just wants to be stay away from Rick, even at the cost of living in a universe of chaos. Evil Rick is dead. He's buried the hatchet with Birdperson. And look who's in the final scene and what he did.
@@davidknightx That's just his normal chaotic self besides he deserves to be happy after what Rick did to him he made him lose his job, his wife his child and his home he lives inside garbage now because no one will hire him his only solution was to take up the life of another Mr Poopybutthole I know the way he did it was wrong though but the thing about him being recruited by Evil Morty is not confirmed to be something that will most definitely happen because it was something made by Storylord who is dead now too.

I remember watching the last episode of spectacular Spider-Man when I was younger. And right before the goblin was revealed we had a blackout and for so long the episode evaded me and I never knew who was the goblin because both Norman and Harry were seen when Goblin attacked. I thought it was Harry’s mother
Hey, let's not forget about the twist of Phillip Wittebane turning out to be Belos in TOH! Goddamnit, they should've included that one, or at least made it an honourable mention.
Another scary twist: In Cyberchase, the Hacker swindles the device the kids try to bargain for, but it turns out, the Hacker already claimed it for himself and takes over the computer in Cyberspace.
There was also the twist that the Hacker once worked for the Mother Board. It was only a brief flashback so it wasn't anything big, but considering he spends pretty much the whole show trying to deactivate the Mother Board, it was a bit of a shock to see that he was once one of her employees.
In Spider-Man the Animated Series, Mary Jane falls in a portal and is lost within the multiverse leaving her fate unknown, (although Peter doesn't witness this, as he frantically checks under the debris and in the water with no luck finding her body), later on, Peter is being interrogated as a suspect in her disappearance only to be proven innocent when she randomly shows up at his door where it's revealed that she managed to find a way back (somehow), although minor amnesia prevents her from remembering any details. Eventually Peter tells her of his secret identity as Spider-Man as he doesn't want to lie to her anymore, and the trust formed from that causes their relationship to grow stronger, after which he asks her to marry him, and she happily agrees. After the marriage, Hydro-Man returns (one of Spider-Man's enemies and Mary Jane's "ex-control freak boyfriend", back before she met Peter Parker) whom Spider-Man had already defeated (as it was assumed that Hydro-Man had accidentally died when he couldn't maintain his watery form and evaporated leaving no traces behind) He claims that he came back for Mary Jane, and they were "made for each other". He tries to kidnap Mary Jane but is interrupted by Spider-Man. However, Hydro-Man gains the upper hand, but before he can deliver the finishing blow, Mary Jane blasts him back with HER OWN "water powers" that mimic Hydro-Man's in every way, and she manages to save her husband. Later a mysterious scientists makes himself known to Mary Jane claiming to be her "father", which excites her as she never knew her father and is shown throughout the show always wanting to find him, as she always felt robbed of a paternal relationship. However, after bringing her to his lab, he explains that he isn't her biological father, as he merely created her in his cloning facility. Turns out, that after Spider-Man had defeated Hydro-Man long ago, this scientist went to where Hydro-Man had evaporated and took minute traces of DNA from the concrete, that he used to create a perfect clone, powers included. However, trace amounts of Mary Jane's DNA had been there as well, since he'd previously tried to abduct her before his defeat, and so the scientist had inadvertently (or maybe purposefully, been a while, can't remember) cloned her as well. And in order to appease the Hydro-Man clone, "gave her" to him so he could have his own personal Mary Jane so to speak... (I know, doesn't make it any less creepy, ick) But was AGHAST when the clone showed signs of FREE WILL and possessed memories of her previous life, and only had love for Peter Parker, and thus she had escaped the lab in order to seek him out and be with him. Which is why she showed up mysteriously at his door, while he was being interrogated for her very disappearance. Long story short (Yeah, ironic how this is the short version, because it took a LOT of episodes to get where we are) both she and the Hydro-Man clone are unstable, and after some conflict and action scenes, both end up breaking down into normal water (thus dying... pretty hardcore for a kid's show, but hey, this was the 90's and boy did they push that envelope! Don't even get me started on Beast Wars...) and Spider-Man cries out his classic "MAAARY JAAANE!" as she liquidizes in his arms... TL;DR - Spider-Man the Animated Series - Peter Parker's girlfriend, Mary Jane, is presumed dead or missing. She mysteriously comes back, confesses her love for Peter, who in turn confesses his identity as Spider-Man. They get married, all is well, until she's revealed to be an unstable clone that doesn't have long to live. She regrets nothing and she's glad her short lived existence was spent with the man she loved, and even ended up saving Peter's life before eventually liquidizing into lifeless water... (huh... guess there was a shorter version after all)
Funny thing is X-men '97 actually brought closer to this. It was implied that Peter and Madame Web found the real MJ somewhere in the multiverse as she can be seen with him in the first season finale.
The Venture Brothers could fill an entire video on its own with all the huge plot twist that are constantly revealed throughout the entirety of the show. Sad how such an awesome show that's had a 20 year lifespan gets no love. There's: secret brothers swallowed at birth, clones, a parent having a secret identity, multiple double agents, surprise love child, people getting brought back to life as a cyborg, surprise blood ties, just to name a few.
@@shinzero0271 most every long running animated series has had big breaks in-between seasons, with very few exceptions such as the Simpsons and South Park
@@WebsterEthan-n8p That Sam (who we had been following from the start and seemed like a wholesome character) was really working for the villain all along.
What really gets me about Futurama is that in the *very first* episode of the show, as Fry is falling into the cryo-chamber, they do a close up of his chair hitting the ground, and Nibbler's shadow can be seen very clearly, but the reveal that Nibbler was responsible for Fry getting frozen doesn't happen until the fourth season. Did they actually plan out that plotline seasons in advance? That show is ridiculously consistent about little details, that it has amazed me on more than one occasion.
Many of these twists deserved to be on the list, though I think they should’ve included; .Plankton and Krabs were once best friends-SpongeBob SquarePants .The Apple Siblings are Half Pear- My Little Pony:Friendship Is Magic .Philip and Belos are the Same-The Owl House .Mr Jones Secret- Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated .Elena Was Trapped in the Amulet of Avalor- Sofia the First .Randall Boggs Returns- Monsters At Work
Heh, people were speculating about it 4 years before the _first episode_ of the season came out. I think that's about as far from "a plot twist nobody saw coming" as it gets. I don't even think it was really supposed to be all that shocking, it's been hinted at forever
Honorable mention should've included: 2012 TMNT- Shredder lets the Black Hole Generator activate OK KO Let's Be Heroes- Professor Venomous is KO's dad Hilda- Hilda being part fairy or swapped places with a troll Young Justice- Magic School Bus The Owl House- Luz helped Phillip the Witch Hunter meet The Collector
Here are my top 5 honorable mentions that should've been on the list. 1: The Owl House: King being a titan and the son of the Boiling Isles 2: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic: Discord was Grogar 3: Big Hero 6 The Series: Liv was actually a clone 4: Wild Kratts: Pasley switching to the good side 5: TAWOG: The world resetting itself
17:34 I think you guys left out the even more bittersweet ending with Samurai Jack that because of a Time paradox making ashi ceases to exist and on their wedding day no less... It might have been Aku's one last middle finger to him from beyond the void.
Tara's betrayal (known as The Judas Contract in the comics) was a great storyline. It not only had betrayal of the Titans but Batman's new team, The Outsiders. ( Her brother was team member Geo-Force)
#8 - A heavy cost? Tara broke free from her stone tomb. Then decided she just wanted to be an ordinary girl. But Beast Boy found out the truth. At first she denied everything. But then seeing how much she was inadvertently emotionally hurting him, Tara came clean. Though not in a direct way. She hadn't lost her memories. She knew exactly who she was, what she did. But just wanted to be a normal girl, going to a normal school, with normal friends. Beast Boy understood. Before the Teen Titans was rebooted as a silly kid's show afterwards, that's where the season ends. With an upbeat Beast Boy deciding to respect Tara's wishes, while running off to help his teammates in a battle. There was no heavy cost for Tara.
I was sort of expecting something from MLP: FiM, like when Cozy turned out to be a villain or when Grogar was exposed as Discord. But then I guess those were totally expected. Another good entry would've been when "Irma" from TMNT 2012 was revealed to be Kraang Subprime.
The important detail this list didn't mention about the Norman Osborn reveal: the Green Goblin shows up in front of Norman Osborn in Season 1. It's only revealed at the end of Season 2 that the Norman Osborn in that scene was the Chameleon in disguise as Norman. And the Chameleon's proper introduction was one episode after he used that disguise, so we didn't even know he was already in the series at that point.
For me the best plot twist of the KND was discovering who were really the Delightful Children from Down The Lane. Being one of the many ret why Operation Zero is the best CN movie ever made
4 for My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic: 1. Twilight becomes an Alicorn. Sure, Twilight Sparkle had always adored her mentor Princess Celestia and had wanted to live up to her example, but she herself had never thought that this involve growing wings and becoming pony royalty. 2. Starlight Glimmer had stalked the Mane 6 throughout Season 5. She has the distinction of being the only villain to face the ponies in both a Season opening and a Season closer. 3. The Crusaders get their Cutie marks, and on the 5th year anniversary of the show's first episode. Very few series grant the long-established goals for secondary characters before the end of a series. And the series runners did this for Applebloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo in a way that kept their roles as Crusaders and expanded on their theme. 4. Grogar is Discord in disguise. By virtue of his signature bell, it' implied that there was actually a "real" Grogar in the series' canon's past, but the one who revives, frees and unifies villains of seasons past and Big Bad of the series final season is the God of Chaos himself. And not out of malice, but a misguided sense of gratitude, wanting for Twilight to have increasingly challenging, but still manageable enemies to fight and grow from.
None of these are plot twists, they're just plot points. A culmination of events. "Villain tries to take down heroes over time" and "characters achieve their goals" are normal things. Especially for the Crusaders, since it's a guaranteed part of growing up. It would be a twist if they NEVER got cutie marks.
@@unvanquishedtruth I disagree, and let me go through the points again to make my case: 1. Twilight never wanted to be an alicorn. Sure, she admired Celestia as a mentor and wielder of magic, but the best she had hoped for, realistically, was to become a court mage, like Starswirl the Bearded. Her gaining wings and becoming royalty never seemed an option. 2. Yeah, that's just a minor one. It's just fun to go re-watch the episodes and realize that the conspiracy nuts actually were right that time. 3. This is more of a meta one. Name me one series where a secondary character attained their primary, character-defining goal, and then proceeded to remain in the show. And it was done at the culmination of an episode where they weren't even the central focus. I personally love the way the writers did it in a way that was consistent, and that opened up the Crusaders' character arc, rather than close it down. 4. At this point of the story Discord was not a villain any more. He was merely trying to wrap his head around the very concept of friendship. And it was out of this misguided effort to help that he brought back the other villains and donned the disguise of Grogar. That, and he never really let his mask slip, up until his magic was sapped. If you guessed this one early, props to you, as I did not.
The twist reveal of what Timmy’s secret wish actually was is not only very stupid, but it is was some nonsensical meta-commentary on why the characters never age, and it also felt like they were actively TRYING to jump the shark.
Young Justice pulled an incredible one in Phantoms. Just when you forgot about the loose end, it gets tied up in the most shocking way imagineable, and Metron is there to personally drink up the self gloat over how he played the poor (ok not so poor the little bastard totally had it coming) kid like a fiddle. Really calls into question if Razer's victory wasn't the intended result from the start given the basic logic that people can be attuned with multiple emotions at any given time.
As a grown man, I have watched the entire Steven Universe series multiple times. I also admit to dedicating years to Gravity Falls. I only pretended to watch them "for the kids".
The Kids Next Door reveal that Chad was a double agent all along makes no sense. It was written just for the sake of a plot twist. Why couldn't they make an episode where wee see how Chad began regretting his betrayal so much that he risked his life to redeem himself and therefore was given a chance to become a double agent.
Disagree. Maurice showed us it was possible that operatives were still working even as the turned 13 or into adulthood. Plus the planned Gknd. Also, initially we were introduced to Chad as the best agent of their generation, only to be upset when he turned into a cruel teen, and even then flipped again when it turned out he was playing the teens.
@MoonlightPrincess07 Maurice did not try to send the moon base into the sun and Maurice did not frame others to get decommissioned instead of him. Telling me that all of this was a mistake and was done to help the KND is nothing but horsecrud. I do believe the plan was to make Chad a double agent like Marice but Chad went mad before anyone could give him the memo. That is why giving Chad a redemption story afterward would have made more sense than him being a good guy all along.
I wish the producers of the show told us that if Chad is a double agent, what was his real motivation in Operation Leader, Operation Elections, and Operation Zero
Gambit's Death felt huge. I think it was one of TV's most shocking moments of the year. Hopefully it will become even more iconic, if the show continues.
The beauty of Cass's betrayal is that it came from the opposite of what we expected. While we might have expected her to be a subversive, poisonous influence like her mother, she was the manipulatee rather than the manipulator, she was filled with venom that reacted with her already there mountain of resentment and insecurity in a way that made her a dark reflection of Rapunzel.
That's why their children, you idiot because they could get hurt, get killed, and worst of all, get everyone killed, including Los Angeles! And that WHY KP can't let children get hurt, for God's sake! BTW, I don't watch Hazbin Hotel. Too disturbing.
OK, I know you talked about why it was a shock to find out Norman Osborne was Green Goblin. However, you have a similar problem with Tera. I would suggest reading a Teen Titans story called "The Judas Contract." It tells the story of a Titans member named Tera who betrayed the team.
It's not that much of a shocker when you know the comics, where she's actually Slade's love interest (which is kind of ... ew, considering they first met when she was 15). I personally thought the plot twist of her brother Geo-Force betraying the heroes in Young Justice, murdering his uncle and usurping his brother's throne, with Terra actually becomming part of the Outsiders.
@@MyRegardsToTheDodo I had only seen the TV series, so was surprised when it happened. That was probably a good thing for me since I am tend get annoyed when I know the original plotline ( in my mind, "the real story") and watch a later version that deviates from it.
@@jfess1911 DC does a lot of this, they tend to deviate from their comics in their TV shows. And then of course there's the Elseworlds comics, that are completely different than the original DC timeline (which also got rebooted so much, that deciding what's the "real story" is actually not that easy) or non-cannon comics.
@@MyRegardsToTheDodo Now that I am an official Old Fart, I would huruumph and say "Dagnabit! The "real one" is the one I read back when I was young!!!!! Then go away grumbling something like "ding dang youngsters...... messing up perfectly good plots." 😀
In the LOK, I was over it when the leader of the anti-bending group turned out to be a bender. There was so many ways they could've further explored that complex dynamic between benders and non-benders, but they took the easy route out.
The Batman Beyond twist was a little weird, but that also means Max, Terry's brother, is also a son of Bruce. At least in a newer comic he goes on to be that time's Robin.
@@robertperez2262 It's a decent twist but the clone thing has been done to death. Finding out about Della was something people have been wondering for decades.

It made it even more worse when she disappeared at their wedding. That felt so unfair.
There is a Samurai Jack game where Ashi doesn’t die in the end. I think the creators said that that's the ending they would consider canon
Yeah, don't get me started on that diddy, her helping Jack kill her ancestor before her own birth is a grandfather paradox, technically such an action would mean that she shouldn't have been erased from existence, just an anomaly being sustained by a paradox.
Sooo true because when he killed aku I was like noooo ashi will die because of the timeline and yah wedding day Jack was holding nothing 😭😭

That Batman Beyond ending, is the only thing that makes sense, he was too much like him, not to be.
To be fair, that 20 year lifespan included about a 2 year break between each season.

Did they actually plan out that plotline seasons in advance? That show is ridiculously consistent about little details, that it has amazed me on more than one occasion.

4 for My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic:
And not out of malice, but a misguided sense of gratitude, wanting for Twilight to have increasingly challenging, but still manageable enemies to fight and grow from.
as part of 3 a minor villian turns good with one of the best reformation songs ever.
None of these are plot twists, they're just plot points. A culmination of events. "Villain tries to take down heroes over time" and "characters achieve their goals" are normal things. Especially for the Crusaders, since it's a guaranteed part of growing up. It would be a twist if they NEVER got cutie marks.
@@unvanquishedtruth I disagree, and let me go through the points again to make my case:

OK, I know you talked about why it was a shock to find out Norman Osborne was Green Goblin. However, you have a similar problem with Tera. I would suggest reading a Teen Titans story called "The Judas Contract." It tells the story of a Titans member named Tera who betrayed the team.
