I was born and raised in Memphis and I grew up watching all these fellows since I was a little kid. My little brother and would walk to Channel 13 studio and watch them every Saturday morning before they over to Channel 5 studio and when we got old enough. We'd go to the Mid-South Coliseum for Monday night wrestling. Man, those were some great times and great memories. We got to witness most of what Bill is talking about.
In 1969 me & my then girlfriend were in a movie theatre (in Sydney, Australia) and I noticed that Billy Dundee was sitting in the seat in front of me with his girlfriend (or wife?). Being a big wrestling fan, I tapped Bill on the shoulder. He turned around & I told him how much I enjoyed his wrestling style. Bill was very pleasant, thanked me & turned back around to watch the movie. From that day on, I thought that Bill was a very nice guy.
I drank beer with Bill and Tommy Rich after they performed in Jonesboro every week. Dundee’s favorite actor was John Wayne, my favorite actor at the time was Bill Dundee. 1977
Being a scotsman and a big wrestling fan no one really knew of bill dundee in scotland tbh well people I knew that was wrestling fans although the wwf had piper but we knew he wasnt a scotsman lol but a think its great that we have had a a good few wrestlers especially bill that was succesful in his era but love it
Roddy was descended from Scotland . Roderick Toombs was his birth name and he was very proud of his Scottish ancestry . So much so that he was legitimately learned to play bagpipes . So , He was Canadian sure but all about his Scottish heritage
The part he said about heat towards the end is crazy. Back in the day the heels wouldn't say a word to you unless they were going to pop a dude. Now the heels treat it like community theater. After the show they shake hands with the fans and take pictures with them. Half the time they don't even sell the pictures. Dam listening to this interview again makes me realize we're never going to have it as good as we did back then.
I have the honor to know Bill personally and he states "that's the word art", the psychology and the ability to adlib are gone as well as kayfabe. Unfortunately it can't come back. Great interview.
Great to see Superstar Bill! He looks great! I hope he and his daughter are doing well with the death of his son in law, Beautiful Bobby Eaton! I heard a story that when he heard she was dating a wrestler, he asked who and when they said Bobby Eaton....he went from ready to kill someone to relieved and happy about it! Says a lot about Bobby-----such a tragic loss by one of the most underrated , underappreciated wrestlers of all time! Both Dundee and Eaton should be in the WWE Hall of Fame!
@@rodzor He still looks great for his age. I think him make a surprise visit on Memphis Wrestling recently? Or is he not doing well/. I am almost positive I saw him on a recently taped Memphis wrestling episode and he even took his shirt off, and for his age, was in great shape. I just pray he has a long life. Wretlers are cursed from back in the day. My pharmacist who is also my radio producer told me "those Somas mixed with all the other drugs damaged organs that were just not something they could replace!"
Thanks Bill, God bless you for entertaining me over the years. I agree with you about wrestling today. Good luck ,

That's awesome 👌
Absolutely loved this interview. Loved the Scottish twang in his accent and his knowledge and stories.
Brough
Bit of American in there too
The man knows almost everything about the wrestling business. Thanks for presenting us this interview!
Not almost..he does, did.

Bill dundee was one of the best of all times
This was a good one!! Much respect!!! ✊ ✌️
One of the best shoots I’ve ever seen…easily in my top 10.
Thanks you bill for kicking my ass at moondog championship wrestling. I’m still thrilled to this day to be pinned by my childhood hero.
Thank God you can find old school wrestling on TH-cam today. The wrestling of 2023 is the worst and will never change.
What a great interview , thanks !
Bill bought me a beer at his bar that he opened in Corinth Mississippi, shook my hand and said..thanks brother..good guy..early 80s..good times.
I loved watching Superstar Bill Dundee every Saturday. Great wrestler and performer
Good to hear Bill talk about his time in Australia as a jobber, I remember watching him as a kid in the 60’s putting the big imports over.
One off the all times great 👍

Bill was a great storyteller. Very believable.
Just started watching Memphis wrestling now I think I can understand Big Bill seems like a great guy good stories
Mark Lewin's impact on the business is even more underrated than Gary Hart's...
Gary Hart and Bill Mercer should both be in the HOF.
PURPLE HAAAAAZE!!!
One of the GOAT's !
Great interview. When was this from?
Looks like RF and Highspots have been re-uping older shoots lately. I felt like I’d seen most but this one is new to me.

I do not watch , or go to wrestling events anymore. It is not wrestling. Memphis wrestling was the best.
Georgia and Florida were very interesting and exciting territories as well!
When was this last I c of bill he didn't look so well
This business is to make money and when Lawler left and came back 6 months later i understand that.
