Happy New Year to all of you. Orca just began a language class. Hope they were able to fill all of the spaces. Great piece of Property. NICE. Thanx Joseph and ANdre'
Thank you for showing us this very lovely property! Whenever I fall in love with one of the small farms you both show, I hesitate because I am in my "twilight years" but I can't think of a more beautiful place to spend said years than this property! It is gorgeous, and in such very good condition it is a realistic option for someone who might not have the stamina for a major restoration project. I'd plant it to the French Lavender and keep honey bees, which, with the pine nuts might generate a little "pin money", at least it would keep one active and engaged with the land. A couple of rescue donkeys and a few chickens would complete my dream farm. 🤩😍 I wonder if the "pine nut trees" are known to harbour the Pine Processionary Moth caterpillars like other species of pine do? (but I think a large securely fenced dooryard with kitchen garden might eliminate that worry for dog owners).
Another stunning property but alas too big for my hubby and I to take on at our stage of life but, oh were we 30-40 years younger I'd bite your hand off to buy that farm. Let me wish you a much healthier and a wealthier 2025. Happy New Year to your family and Andre's from my family. 👍👍👍😍😍
12°C fabulous temperature in December. Love it however I would love to know what the typical average temperature is in the summertime? can you provide information on how the summertime heat and humidity is both day and at night for your area that you’re filming? thank you for all that you do❤
Hi there, average winter daytime temps are around 10°c / 15°c, nighttime down to 0°c but normally around 5°c (odd nights lower). Summer daytime temps up to 40°c max, normally around 32° - 35°. Hope that helps 😁
I've grown a lot of different lavenders and would love to integrate a nice lavender field as part of "my farm" in the future, wherever I end up. Are there any lavender farms in central Portugal, either for essential oils or for agritourism?
Early in the video André tells us the electricity poles are about 200m away, and he also gave us the name of an app that will determine the costs of connecting - sorry for my lack of Portuguese, but you should be able to find it easily.
Hello there, thank you for the message. Yes, it certainly can get to freezing, frost will only be present in the odd shaded area though, once the sun comes up it melts away super quickly. Summer gets hot but depends what you’re doing, if you are outside and can pick your hours for work you can easily avoid the hottest parts of the day 😁 🥵
Awwwh, thank you so much! I don’t speak perfectly but I certainly get by. I never took a lesson, just picked it up in the cafes, then eventually met my Portuguese wife and of course that helped massively!
@Farmerforfun Wow! Gotta say that's impressive, you must have a brain for languages! I'm just starting out learning Portuguese with the aim of moving there in 2026 but find it difficult, compared to French which I speak a little...Thanks Joseph, have a good day bud.
Hello i have been following you flr a while now . I did mention i want to come an visit in the new year. Can i ask what was your main priority when purchasing your own land?. Appreciate a response as i would be new to trying to go self sufficient. Liam
Hi Liam, thanks for asking my friend. I have always been an animal lover and although for many reasons we wished to move to central Portugal, I would say that pretty high up on my list was being able to farm as many of the animal products that I consume as possible. To get all the way there was a pretty unobtainable goal, but every bit that is possible is a win for me. My Portugal goals have now evolved somewhat since the creation of my little family here, now I want to be able to raise my two kids as close to nature as possible, with livestock, veggie patches, fruit orchards (we have a cherry farm) etc. I hope that helped and thank you for the really great question! Love it!!! All the best and happy new year Liam! Joseph.
Can you legally live in the building? How much in your opinion would it cost to get running water, electricity and a second floor with a decent roof. If you could answer the above it would be great as this gives me a more realistic idea of how much I would need to spend. Also how much about would other charges be? Legal, taxes your fee? So total €40k plus what? I’ve been looking at properties now for over 6 months but when I find the right one I don’t want to make a mistake with my budget. Thank you
Hello there, thanks for the comment, lots of great questions! Taxes are 5% of the purchase price, stamp duty is 0.8% of the purchase price, you would need to provide your own legal representative so you can ask them how much their fees are (I can recommend some English speaking ones in the area if you don’t know of any) there are no other fees regarding the purchase. Building costs is always a very difficult one to answer, there are so many variables but I’ll do my best to answer here. It is usually cheaper than people expect when coming to Portugal as they read online about ‘€1,200~ a square metre’ or whatever it is in places like Lisbon and the Algarve. Here it is much cheaper if using trusted Portuguese builders, just recently some friends of mine were quoted €40,000 for a rebuild on a building roughly the same size as this one. To give an idea septic tank costs around €1,500, a bathroom costs around €800 (basic standard). More can be spent for a more luxurious quality, it all comes down to taste I suppose. Borehole would costs around €25 per metre drilled into the ground, estimated depth of between 60 - 100 metres in this area. Hope that helps! 😊 💕
@@Farmerforfun Joseph I remember some months ago - referring to a stunning mountain property - you said that regarding a borehole when they drill and find no water you also do not pay anything?
Hi! I only ever milk mine if they won’t take their lamb or if there’s a problem lambing, for example taking milk from another mother to give to a different lamb. Mine are meat breeds so not great for milk production 😁
@ Ok, I’ve been looking into sheep’s milk. It’s ment to be very creamy and more suitable for humans than cows milk. I’ve not tried any yet but I will be doing.
Yes absolutely, I stand to be corrected but I think goats milk is actually even more beneficial (just check that first though), closest thing to human milk and easier for our stomachs to digest
@leeboss373 - Sheep's milk makes wonderful cheese! "OKPortugal's" videos showing their neighbour Joaquim's dairy sheep herd always set me to dreaming...
Hi Joseph, nice farm but you need to be more open regarding whether there is a habitation lisence for the so called cottage or not, no point in people contacting you if you are not giving out the full facts regarding the possibility of living there.
Hi, I believe I did say it before walking inside the cottage? If I didn’t I apologise but yes you can legally live there. Also, there is even more of a reason for people to contact if I miss something, I welcome any emails and questions and specifically say please ask us anything. As I am sure there will always be something that I might not have covered on the tour
Can you get the price for the land from the mini market in isle 2. Why don't you start the video with the Following: Area, size , and price I've watched the whole video and still don't know what the price is😢
Hi, erm, I don’t really know what you want me to do but it is written in the thumbnail, it is written in the first line of the description, it is verbally mentioned, it is on our website… I couldn’t really make it any easier to get this information, even if you did not watch the video you would see the price and size literally written in the thumbnail picture… Next time I’ll shout the price every five seconds for those a little hard of hearing 🙄
@@Farmerforfun wonderful presentation and you did mention all the necessary details. People just need to pay attention. You and Andre did a wonderful job again!

For my needs almost perfect. However I rather have something without neighbours due to my dog.... seiously looking. thank you for sharing. cheers.
@TIMBEAU1962 - Perhaps I am mistaken, but it looked like it was surrounded by pastures and set well away from homes?
Yeah, really not many neighbours here, if the neighbours were any further I think they’d be Spanish
👍....Your Portuguese is excellent Joseph, especially the way you switch between Portuguese and English...How long did it take to get to that level?

Yes but goats milk doesn’t taste very nice, I’m lead to believe sheep’s milk is similar tasting to cows milk.
Just to confirm, can you legally live in this property?
Yes, one hundred percent!
Built before 1952 then classed as habitation. Not 100psnt sure though:)
😂 ..I just watched an ad where the AI woman is telling us that she lives in Dallas with her husband and two children. 😐
Oh my word, AI is taking over the world, one advert at a time 😫
Quick question - it says usable 130m - so that’s double the building. What does that mean?
It’s if you add a first floor to the already built area, easier legally to go up than go out?
Yes exactly, extending outwards is very possible also, but requires more paperwork and an architect. Easier to stick to the current footprint.
