    One side fact many rarely know regarding the Japanese terms Shushi, Shashimi & Hawaiians Poke is almost all dishes with raw fish is actually just called Shashimi or Poke. Sushi is when it’s actually cooked or prepped with vinegar based or over rice etc. Americans including many Hawaiian natives have basically taken the word sushi and incorporated shashimi or poke as the meaning when neither are a sushi. So the name Poke is the Hawaiian term for raw fish and how it’s cut as for shashimi is the Japanese term for prepped raw thin sliced fish. But Many have put the to terms together. So ideally if your in japan you just say Shashimi and if your in Hawaii you just say Poke. And for the dish you made I would assume it would have been called the ONO Poke bowl if said in hawaii (Raw Mackerel) or Nama saba donburi (Japense for Raw mackerel Bowl) or Poke bowl for short. But my favorite Poke bowl is the Spicy Ahi Poke but which I need to make a video for as well now Jeff LOL. Sorry lot of gibberish but either way I always love your videos and LOVE POKE 🤤🤤🤤 -Nauti Fish

    Anyone else know why he’s reeling in so fast when he doesn’t have a fish on? Is it still realistic movement going that speed?

      They like a fast moving lure. Common way down in Florida is to use a spoon and a weight a few feet up. Toss it out, let it sink and reel as fast as you can back to the surface. Or just freelining live greenbacks. Some of the easiest fish to catch.

    I heard Spanish and blues didn't taste good after freezing. Is that a general rule, or merely in the eye of the beholder?

    I know you don't want to give away specific fishing spots for respect of the regulars and not wanting to flood certain areas, but would it be possible for you guys to give a little more infotainment about what areas you guys are fishing at for those of us that are local? Like what boat ramp you're launching from or landmarks you're fishing near? I'm fairly new to saltwater side of fishing and still learning where the decent spots around here are. Thanks for your consideration.

    • @1fish2fish10
      @1fish2fish10  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have to be very careful with spots and even showing areas where we fish. On this channel our goal is to teach patterns for people to learn how to catch fish and be able to locate fish on their own. In fishing, with social media and everything we aim to preserve the respect of fishing spots and just the culture of fishing. Naturally people see the areas we fish and that alone is something we have to wrestle with because that alone will "blow up" certain fisheries - so we have to be extremely careful, because that's the fastest way to lose respect in this industry. Since you're just getting into saltwater fishing I would advise you to learn patterns and tactics for locating fish as opposed to following spots. I do have a video on this channel about the main fishing spots in this area you can watch to give you answers to your questions and a head-start! But I promise, watch the tutorial vids and put those to work and you will be competent in finding fish on your own!

    You fish at Virginia Beach right? I want to fish there one time. When is the last day for Mackerel fishing at VB?

    • @jasl7358
      @jasl7358 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't ever fished Chesapeake either but I fish just a little south on the obx. There are usually a few hanging around until the end of October. But the best Spanish bite usually ends after August. The King Mackerel hang around a little longer with some of the best fishing taking place in October

    What kind of rod/tackle set up where you using?

    • @afout07
      @afout07 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      any medium spinning rod with a 2500-3000 size reel will work just great for spanish. use 15-20lb braid and a 20-30lb fluoro leader. for lures, use anything shiny and slender that you can cast really far such as stingsilvers or gotcha plugs or kastmasters. a very fast retrieve is key for spanish

    • @romank2428
      @romank2428 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@afout07 thanks. medium action or medium power rod? Im kind of confusing when it comes to action and power.

    • @afout07
      @afout07 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@romank2428 medium power, fast action. A basic way to know the difference is power refers to how hard the rod is to bend, heavier power rods need more weight to bend them. Action refers to where the rod bends. Fast action rods only bend in the top third of the rod, medium action bends in the top 2/3 of the rod and slow action rods will bend all the way to the backbone of the rod just above the foregrip.

      Spanish are great eating and theyre good for you. Theyre a good source of omega3s. The mercury concern really only applies to large fish, fish accumulate mercury as they grow older. Spanish dont live that long, maybe two or three years at the most, so they dont have high levels of contaminants

      Flame Fishing No I haven’t man I live South East Florida and I usually fish flounder through the mangroves, you should be ready for rocky areas flounder hang out on the bottoms waiting for bait you will use some lures to rocks and sticks(etc) but it’s just the patience and what works best for you good luck though with your flounder and I subbed
