It's really good but in the 36 years I've played the game I have seen some truly mind blowing miniatures and vehicles. The top for me was a 5 ft/ 1.5 meter scratch built Warlord Titan. The brass cascading out of the gatling blaster was spent 7.62NATO rifle cartridges on clear monofilament line. The power fist held a limp chaos warhound titan by it's head. Now it's super hard to find pics of it on the web since this was something like 20 years ago on the Dakkadakka forums.

Lovely build!! Quick warning just in case you weren’t aware or for others looking to use LiPo batteries; LiPo batteries can swell over time even when not in use. If the battery is left inside the model over the long term it may at best physically damage the model, or worse it may puncture and cause a fire. I think it would be worth removing the LiPo when you aren’t planning on looking at the lights, or perhaps swap it for a different battery with a chemistry that’s more suited to longer life in a confined space. Love your vids as always!! Your works always blow me away and inspire me to try new things with my model kits!!
Hot damn, this model went from a 3 to a 10 real fast. PLASMO got that touch man. At this point, i'm firmly convinced that even if we'd throw the most garbage of kits out there at him, he'd still make a 10/10 out of it.

@@kalzhae I’d say it counts, people that want their tables to be 100% lore accurate paint make it so boring IMO. Like warhammer is mainly about creativity with painting and scratch building, and then you get a host that will kick you off the table because “the paint isn’t correct”.

When the Land Raider was revealed I stopped what I was doing and made the sign of the Aquila. This piece is the most inspiring and remarkable thing I've seen! The Emperor protects.

Truly amazing, really nice to see. I have plated around a little with gold leaf on miniatures myself. If you want a smoother surface: 1) polish the plastic or use gloss varnish before applying the gold. The smoother the surface, the smoother the gold. 2) You can polish the gold with an agate stone very carefully, this is the traditional metod for getting a really polished look. Amazing work, loved seeing this 👌

Ive been collecting and painting Warhammer for a few years now...this blows anything I've ever seen or painted myself out of the water, the sheer level of detail is insane like the LEDs and magnetizing i've seen done before but the fact you used ACTUAL GOLD LEAVES to coat it...i knew you were crazy but like damn, The Emperor smiles upon you friend
When doing heat tint I wouldn't use red. You might find reddish hues but true red would be such a narrow band of temperature there wouldn't be enough to really see. Straw yellow to brown would be the biggest band at 200°-270°c, through purple to blue at 290°c, over 300°c is a matte greenish grey to grey. Stainless shifts those numbers up by maybe 100°c. When I saw the thumbnail I was expecting some sort of gold paint, the gold leaf caught me totally off guard. Really cool model, nice to see 40k models getting some in depth attention.

WoW just WoW. Amazing work. I was going to hold off collecting the Land Raider for my Custodes. But I learnt so much from your one video that I have to incorporate into my own build. I wouldn't personally use Gold Leaf, But my preferred Gold recipe is using a Gold Lacquer paint. I am just blown away from your build.
@@bugler75 there have always been alternatives. Even ones with better quality sculpts but GW is inevitably always top dog for a reason, its the setting that the game is in that sells. Not the rules.

It’s the wide range with the background story , all the books etc. Plus the stores too. I don’t play GW anymore but their paint, brushes etc are good and convenient. Each time I go there is a great atmosphere and very welcoming when I stop to watch a game. Like you say , it’s not particularly the game but everything else that surrounds GW. Fair play to them, they’ve kept the brand going all these years. Too expensive though! 😂

I am not a fan of the gold (and the whole shiny Adeptus Custodes aesthetic in general - I'm more of the grimdark guy) but maaaaan there are so many tips and tricks that I have learned from this! Thanks so much for sharing this amazing work!
honestly i almost dare not comment this as your craft skill is... simply incredible, but for large panels that do not fit well; have you heard about/tried "sprue goo"... you mix leftover plastic sprues in with tamiya thin model glue to create much thicker glue putty. i glue large panels together with it that don't fit well together and allow it to squeeze out in the gaps a little while fitting them together, allow to dry all the way and clean it up with a knife/file/sandpaper. i've had better luck with it than using putty to fill them after glue together and it's less cleanup work once you get used to it. just something to try and see what you do with it. this build of yours inspires me!
An amazing build. I have always wanted to see a master modeler such as yourself approach a 40K tank or other 40K vehicle with the same amount of detailing as you would a German Panzer. It would be fun to see your approach to details, paint, and weathering to make it look hyper realistic as all of your other work. Love this build, look forward to more.

There are always options. Plasticard, knives and glue exist. EBay exists. Many other excelent games exist, throw money at other more deserving companies.

I actually love how"scratchy" the gold leaf texture is, it makes you really think the outer layer was actually furbished in real gold alloy.
In fairness, it is. Probably thicker than reality also if you consider the thickness of the leaf vs the size of the model in scale
according to the lore Custodes gear is made from a material called auramite, which is naturally gold through and through. (nerd emoji)

100 leafs cost literally 6-20 euro, depending on the source.

I have worked with gold leaf and that stuff is tricky! When I saw you put on the first piece I figured it was going to be an accent piece. I did NOT expect to see that go over the whole model. Very cool!
