Funnily enough this battle is very likely to happen in the lore. In the last Salamanders 40k novel, the SoB are fighting alongside the Salamanders, but they view them as mutants due to their skin color and eye color. They actively undermine the Salamanders, and try to get them killed. So this is very cool to see these two fighting each other on the tabletop.
We do want to give you as interesting and well played a game as possible and Steve is much more comfortable, experienced, and knowledgeable with Gladius. He does have to drive an hour to the studio and we had limited time to shoot this one so we wanted Steve to have fun, with rules he is familiar with, and play his best game. If the stars aligned a bit differently we would have loved to have played Firestorm but to make this one work, Steve went with Gladius.
@@timneji There just isnt anything fun about certain chapters detachments no matter how thematic. IF users and RG know this best. Heck even WS this time around since they have literally 2 mounted options in ALL of codex SM its why stormlance might aswell be a ravenwing or space wolf detachment.
Love Salamanders. Unfortunately there is a missed rule at the beginning of round two. Adrax Agatone halves the OC of enemy units he is in combat with. This means the Infernus Squad of Adrax would have easily outclassed the Sisters on the middle objective during the top half of Round 2, and stopped Tak from terraforming it.
Let's give them some grace. Warhammer is hard enough to remember the rules for when you play only one army and are not also trying to be an entertainer. Good game guys, and thanks op for letting us know about the agrax rule! That's a good one to know when I see salamanders.
We did miss that rule. While we do want to give you a good show, we also recognize we won't be perfect. I wish we had more time to play reps with all the factions, chapters, and datasheets we use but alas we don't get to play as much as we would like to. Luckily, the outcome remained in favour of the army who's rule we missed. We won't be perfect, but we will endeavour to learn from every mistake.
Tak shouldn't have controlled the center objective after turn 2. One of Adrax ability halves the OC of any unit he's engaged with. And since a sister died Tak would have only have 4 oc on it. As opposed to something like 7 oc from the infernus squad
I really enjoyed this battle report! Currently there are a lot of Sisters vs GSC reports and the Sisters stomp the Cult in pretty much every single one of them because it's "army that kills infantry really well" vs "army that brings only infantry". So seeing the Sisters taking on a foe that acutally has a good armour save puts things much more into perspective! People were already crying that Sisters need to be nerfed and that they are too strong. And while I agree that the Codex gave them a good power boost I don't think they are too strong. Flamers are still not that great vs good armour saves (even though that dev wounds stratagem is ace!) and the army still dies pretty quickly since everything is on a T3 body. Great video, looking forward to more Sororitas content!
Man I was SO much more excited before I heard Steve wasn't playing Firestorm, huge missed opportunity to give it some love and show a true mirror match.
Totally not biased because they’re my faction of choice, Salamander green just looks so good on a tabletop. Great showing from both players, that last turn had me on the edge of my seat.
What a missed opportunity to play Firestorm detachment with the Salamanders. I think the Salamanders lucked out big time! A lot of missed opportunities to overwatch with those Infernus Marines and poor use of the Land Raider.
I honestly think the Salamanders player was just being nice because Salamanders vs Sisters is a complete and total mismatch that should never be allowed. If his list was in any way meta, the Sister's player would'nt have even scored 40 points.
Fun Fact. Steve got in his car. Drove 30-minutes (halfway to the studio) and took a side glance at his tray and realized he forgot a dreadnought. He arrived at the studio to then run around looking for anything green to use.

Sorry to ask, but why Gladius with the Sallies instead of Firestorm Assault? Wouldn't it be kinda fun to see the same detachment rule for both forces to determine which one implements it best?
Another comment mentions Gladius is what Steve is most comfortable with, so I believe that's probably the one he's played the most and doesn't know a lot about the Firestorm Assault force.
Steve is much more familiar with and experienced with Gladius and we wanted him to feel comfortable and feel like he could play his best. We had limited time to shoot this one. It would have been a lot of fun to have two flamer based detachments at each other but we do think it is best to let the players do what they are comfortable doing.

Awesome match but I really want to comment on Tak's awesome looking sisters: I love the red & gold color scheme with a gold that has that tarnishy tint. Can anyone tell me what gold Tak uses? I almost went with that color scheme for my sisters (settled on lilac and mint green instead) but I still want my Morgen Vaal to have a heavily tarnished battleworn battlesuit and that gold would be perfect to shine through a heavy oil wash.
I know a portion of the sisters army is on loan from Matthew Beavis of Grot Guard fame. I think the studio models were probably done to mesh well with Beavis’s models
