    IMPORTANT UPDATE: At 2:00, the video says to add a "CC Composite" effect. In AE 2024, this effect no longer works to expand the particles. Instead, use a "Calculations" effect.

      Thanks for the help, but neither effect seems to work. I dorpped Calculations on, moving it before and after the CC Particle Sytems II effect, and it did simply nothing. Particles still cut off. I
      'm bummed because this tutorial would otherwise be perfect, but I'm stuck at the first step...

    This is the first tutorial I have seen that actually explains what all those different settings in Particle Systems mean. Most people just say the numbers they use without really explaining what they really mean, so thank you for that explanation!

    There are some good tutorials out there, but what makes yours great is that you explain what you're doing, and why, and what the different settings do, instead of just giving us settings and values to punch in. Thank you, I really appreciate that! Keep doing what you do, I feel like I've learnt more in the past 20 minutes than I have since I started using After Effect. :)

      The "why's" are, in my view, more important than the" Hows"
      Keep up the good work, and thanks for the help

      This is a screenshot of my scene: ibb.co/bBZWUw
      1) 3d model of a heart from Element 3D
      2) 3d Null
      3) Point light with Lens flare from Optical Flares
      The point light (3) is linked to the Null (2) which should rotate along the y-axis
      My problem is: i need the lens flare to be visible when it moves in front of the heart but disappear when it rotates behind the heart.
      I tried using a z-depth of the heart. But that makes the lens flare disappear also when it is in front of the heart.
      I hope my explanation makes sense. I'm open to try other lens flare solutions if you know any that work properly with a z-dept map. Thank you very much in advance!!!!

    • @creationeffects
      @creationeffects  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never used Optical Flares, but can't you animate the brightness of the lens flare? I would think that you could keyframe the brightness down to zero, as the light passes behind the heart, then brighten it again as it reveals itself on the other side. Or am I missing something?

      A request for a "yay or nay" answer ~ I have searched for a way of "Particularising" or "Shattering" an image used at the end of a video I am doing ..
      Can I use your effect "adapted by me" to get the result of dissolving it into sand or whatever ~ will it work?
      I am happy should you say "yes" ~ "no" or go elsewhere !! ...I ask the question just to save me time ..ta db :)

    • @creationeffects
      @creationeffects  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mdebailes-OK The Shatter effect or CC Pixel Poly effect can both do a basic break-up of your image into lots of pieces. Those come with After Effects. Or if you don't like those, this effect works on an image as well as text.

    WOW - that was an amazing tutorial. I am a complete noob to After Effects (coming from Premiere Pro and before that from Movie Maker). I tried to learn something snazzy from other AE tutorial videos on here, but i could not get anything to work. I was starting to hate After Effects and thinking how less stressful Premiere Pro is :)
    I followed all your steps carefully and now I see why AE is so cool. You explain everything so clearly..
    Two questions: 1) can we just change the text in the text layers? OR do we have to recreate the particles again each time. to match the flow of the text?. 2) how to export to use with our Premiere Pro vid footage? Not sure the best and easiest way to do that.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH. Liked and subscribed.

    • @creationeffects
      @creationeffects  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, Una, I appreciate that! You should be able to edit the text and it will work the same, as long as the new text occupies roughly the same space. For exporting, you'd be better off just googling "how to export in After Effects". You'll find a lot of pages that teach how.
