IMPORTANT UPDATE: At 2:00, the video says to add a "CC Composite" effect. In AE 2024, this effect no longer works to expand the particles. Instead, use a "Calculations" effect.
Thanks for the help, but neither effect seems to work. I dorpped Calculations on, moving it before and after the CC Particle Sytems II effect, and it did simply nothing. Particles still cut off. I 'm bummed because this tutorial would otherwise be perfect, but I'm stuck at the first step...
This is the first tutorial I have seen that actually explains what all those different settings in Particle Systems mean. Most people just say the numbers they use without really explaining what they really mean, so thank you for that explanation!
There are some good tutorials out there, but what makes yours great is that you explain what you're doing, and why, and what the different settings do, instead of just giving us settings and values to punch in. Thank you, I really appreciate that! Keep doing what you do, I feel like I've learnt more in the past 20 minutes than I have since I started using After Effect. :)
I started from zero knowledge of After Effect and followed your steps. It worked so well. Thanks for explanation and demonstration. I'll adjust the techniques and improve my skills. This is the most WORTH watching on TH-cam ever!!!
Thanx! This has been *one of the best tutorials* I've come across in a long time. And I've seen quite a lot ;-) The right speed, at a correct technical level. Keep it up!
Yeah, if you just tell me here what you're trying to do, I'll try to give you a quick description of what I would do. It may not be the best way, but maybe it can help.
This is a screenshot of my scene: ibb.co/bBZWUw 1) 3d model of a heart from Element 3D 2) 3d Null 3) Point light with Lens flare from Optical Flares The point light (3) is linked to the Null (2) which should rotate along the y-axis My problem is: i need the lens flare to be visible when it moves in front of the heart but disappear when it rotates behind the heart. I tried using a z-depth of the heart. But that makes the lens flare disappear also when it is in front of the heart. I hope my explanation makes sense. I'm open to try other lens flare solutions if you know any that work properly with a z-dept map. Thank you very much in advance!!!!
I've never used Optical Flares, but can't you animate the brightness of the lens flare? I would think that you could keyframe the brightness down to zero, as the light passes behind the heart, then brighten it again as it reveals itself on the other side. Or am I missing something?
Thank you for explaining what the functions/options mean as you were creating this. Most tutorials tell you to do this and that and not explain what they do. I am taking notes on stuff as I do different tutorials, so I appreciate you explaining more!
Just wanted to say that your step-by-step process and clear explanations of not only what, but how, everything takes place is incredibly informative and very, very easy to follow. Thank you for your hard work and expertise!
Must Comment Again! Easily on of the most informative and well executed tutorials I've seen on Particles. The addition of simple and easy to use expressions made my day! Diving into it now!
Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial. It is so magical that I never have used after effects before and I managed to have a result like that. Thank you, thank you !!!
Thanks! I'm starting a new TH-cam channel and when it takes off, I'll definitely purchase the full effects set to save time on future videos. Right now, I gotta put in all the hard work myself since I have practically no budget and thanks to this video, I can make my initial videos looks professional!
One of the best Tut I ever saw and his Tuts are really awesome 👍. I just ordered a couple of his templates because: firstly, he diserve that we support his work. secondly, it saves a huge time. thirdly, it works perfect and easy. and fourthly it looks more than great. Thank you so much for this wonderful work 👍.
Great video man you do a fantastic job. Now the video I got hired for is gonna have much better lower 3rds! It's some mystical/meditation yoga group type video so this is perfect. Thanks for the help
Thank you so much for such a useful tutorial!! I'm totally new to AE and animation, and your explanations of the process/purpose of settings (etc.) were super helpful and enabled me to create particle effects for a logo of my own. Thank you again!
Have to compliment you brother ~ whilst I am miles behind you in experience, I understood everything by way of your explanation ~ It'll take me ages to apply it BUT I will understand what I am doing instead of just "ape-ing" mouse clicks ~ there are only one or two you around and you are gold dust ~ Thanks db
@@creationeffects Well pleased you responded!! .... A request for a "yay or nay" answer ~ I have searched for a way of "Particularising" or "Shattering" an image used at the end of a video I am doing .. Can I use your effect "adapted by me" to get the result of dissolving it into sand or whatever ~ will it work? I am happy should you say "yes" ~ "no" or go elsewhere !! ...I ask the question just to save me time ..ta db :)
@@mdebailes-OK The Shatter effect or CC Pixel Poly effect can both do a basic break-up of your image into lots of pieces. Those come with After Effects. Or if you don't like those, this effect works on an image as well as text.
Awesome video dude ... you're a hero. I have just one thing to critizise. I'm a starter in AE and I don't know all the shortcuts yet. So sometimes I didn't know which key you pressed for example when you added a keyframe. Maybe next time you can add a screen where we can see, which keys you're pressing.
Great Video. Very awesome video. THank you very much for the fantastic video unlike others. Genius video. Beautiful the video showed your very great talent. THank you
WOW - that was an amazing tutorial. I am a complete noob to After Effects (coming from Premiere Pro and before that from Movie Maker). I tried to learn something snazzy from other AE tutorial videos on here, but i could not get anything to work. I was starting to hate After Effects and thinking how less stressful Premiere Pro is :) I followed all your steps carefully and now I see why AE is so cool. You explain everything so clearly.. Two questions: 1) can we just change the text in the text layers? OR do we have to recreate the particles again each time. to match the flow of the text?. 2) how to export to use with our Premiere Pro vid footage? Not sure the best and easiest way to do that. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Liked and subscribed.
Thank you, Una, I appreciate that! You should be able to edit the text and it will work the same, as long as the new text occupies roughly the same space. For exporting, you'd be better off just googling "how to export in After Effects". You'll find a lot of pages that teach how.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: At 2:00, the video says to add a "CC Composite" effect. In AE 2024, this effect no longer works to expand the particles. Instead, use a "Calculations" effect.

I strongly second this coment
I agree entirely.

The "why's" are, in my view, more important than the" Hows"
Keep up the good work, and thanks for the help

I've used this effect about 10 times and always forget how to do it. This video is amazing. Repeat viewer!!
"You can see some awesomeness starting to manifest here"... aaaannndd yeah I subscribed at that moment
finally a good tutorial, no long bullshit talks just to the point and with good explanation. Also no stupid background music.
Awesomeness starting to manifest....feel the same way bro😇, thanks for the amazing tutorial. You're the absolute best!!
Noel, you're not only extremely creative, your tutorial videos are great as well. You must have the heart of a teacher.
Thank, Wayne. I've been told that before. If kids didn't scare me so much, I might have gone down that road...
