- In this tutorial I show you how to create pixel scan logo animation in adobe after effects without using any plugins. With this method show in the video you can easily adjust the settings and if you want to use a different logo, all you have to do is replace a logo inside of logo composition and everything will automatically adjust to the new logo you have added. actually I think the block ratio at 2:10 depends on the format of your frame - So in order to get perfect squares in a 16/9 frame you'll need to set the horizontal one to 160 and the vertical one to 90 or a multiple of that ratio :)
i'm sure he knew that, but just wanted to make it simpler for viewers to understand

for any other time travelers from the future looking for the inverse alpha matt. there isn't one now of 2024. there is a small box, that if ticked will invert the comp. so just select the alpha and check the box.

@@SmertimbaGraphics Well for some reason I don’t have After Effects, I have only Node Video, and it turns out the pixel transition effect doesn’t look exactly like what it looks like in After Effects. But this is still good either way

You can make it even better by adding a glow effect to the logo reveal layer and setting the radius to 500, it looks majestic. Anyways amazing video definitely subbing :)

Seems like you can never go wrong with adding a glow effect.
@@sturmx96 When in doubt... always add glow effect. Girlfriend broke up? Add glow effect. Relative passed away? Add glow effect. Lost money during a crypto bull run? Add glow effect

To start from middle you have to use scale property, make sure anchor point is in the center and animate scale in the same way

Instead of keyframing the position from left to right on the shape layer with turbulent displace, keyframe scale from 0 to 100, make sure the anchor point is in the center of the shape though.

Can't say I've tried that, but it should be possible if you manually trace the areas with like a small shape layer instead of one big shape going from left to right

Great video, thank you, but I do not have the track matte options you do - I tried a google search and can see other people having a similar issue. Have they moved somewhere else following an update maybe?
It's been slighlty redesigned in 2023 version. Now all you need to do is to select the layer from the track matte menu drop down and it's automatically set to alpha matte, to invert the matte check the second box to the right

I am always fascinated by the effects we can create with After Effects! But I use Final Cut Pro (FCP) for video editing. Do you have any idea about how we can create the same effect with FCP?

awesome tutorial! thanks for sharing. If I try to use it for concealing an object instead of revealing, i have set mode to multiply but glow effect is taking up the entire shape instead of just the reveal/conceal fragments (i mean the mosaic and ccglass fragments don't have glow, instead the whole object has it) do you know if im missing something? Any chance of email the file to you?

Cool effect. Would this process work for utilizing with real life footage? Like lets say i want someones to digitally materialize something in their hand with this effect. The way i intend to make that scene would be to film a shot with the hand empty, and then anither shot with the object in his hand, and then layer this effect in top to make it look like hes creating the item. Would this tutorial also fit that scene?
It should work just fine. As long as it looks good try it😁

Yeah pretty much, make sure you duplicate compositions in the project panel, not just the timeline
@@SmertimbaGraphics ive gone the other way. i made half of the clip as normal. Then i turned my logo 180c and made second video. Then i threw both of them in premiere pro and flipped my second logo 180 again. And voila! worked like i intended - Logo reveals and dissapears as i wanted. Yes im a total noob in AE and i rathe do it this way then crash all th e project with a false action.. )))) Yes shadow needs to be off or a t 0 distance for this to work

Thank you. Track matte looks different in recent version, basically you have to select the layer from the drop down, and to make it inverted you check the second box to the right
