Eh, nah. Changing the GE would be dumb. The GE is the single best market place in MMO history. Changing it would just be destroying something that has worked for more than a decade now. The GE tax is fine. Deflation in a game with massive inflation is never bad. The only reason you would want a GE tax gone is if you are a long term mercher. Long term merchers win off inflation because they hold items of rarity that grow during inflation. We need an economy that grows of holding items of use not items of rarity that only grow because there is so much excess gold that everyone has to toss it somewhere.
Economy won't brake if devs decide to make ge like real world stock exchange, with all the features and even derivatives. It will just make trading more efficient, fast and interesting. Nowdays you have to spend "a lot" of time on pricechecking for whatever reason like we're on a market in ancient egypt going between tents. They agreed on future supplies of rice for next season in 18th century in Japan via stock exchange paper guarantee, meanwhile we try to make lazy guys to overpay on low volume because they don't see prices and too lazt to spend time properly price-checking haha. Agree on tax topic.
When the Wolf of the GE is telling you that sharks are going to scam these updates, probably should listen.. but I agree that no one uses the +/- 5% on the GE; either you want it now and you'll pay X amount, and you have your limit. And we already have an top/bottom offer and it's the GE @ W2. We have Ely, but rares are currently 2 weeks without update. Now, the GE prices and the street/actual prices are WAY off. Top tier dyes are @ 16b and GE says 8.6b. Should RS incorporate an Ely type bot into the GE? I get your point about the 'hourly and not minute update' but that's still within the buy-limit. Maybe show the buy sell averages at game reset. Off topic, but it would be nice if they could do a lending system so players didn't have to sell their rares in order to invest. I know it would be tricky, but it's been on my mind. Personally, I think they should stop changing things. Period.
@@kollinpoindexter8859Yes. I flip and hoard 3a in osrs, and back a couple months when the longsword broke max cash, I sold 3 at 2.7b, Ely refused to update my sales. Then it tanked, the merchers swooped it again, and now it's past max again, but this time Ely updated it to 2.4b, but, again I sold one yesterday at 2.8 this morning, they refused to update my sale. They very much pick and choose.
I'd like the instant buy/sell buttons if the game told you how much you can expect to pay/receive--like, it shows you the value of an actual live offer in the GE at the time. You still run into the same issue with there needing to be a cap
Alot of people seem to want a transparent history of transactions. The problem with this is price manipulation. It would be much better to show price robust aggregations in price. What I would prefer is a median price of the last X gp in volume, Y Unique transactions, and Z days (item dependent). I would also like to know volume by unit quantity sold per day and number unique accounts who bought said item over each span of time.
Honestly, instant sell is good. Everything else can be solved with more frequent updates of ge prices. Most items from the smithing rework are still not in the right price universe over 5 years later..
Showing large amount of order data is something the stock market has already figured out. You simply show the offers in a order view. Basically you show the price brackets and how many orders*order size fall into that price bracket. You can limit it to the number of orders up to the buy limit, or perhaps some percentage of the buy limit.
I honestly like your idea...there should be a toggle button or a hold button. Where we can just sell/send to ge Edit: just finished watching whole video.. Lots of keys factors and points. Great video
3 points: 1- instant sell, yep I'm onboard, sounds good. 2- you're saying that people aren't already selling 1 of something to then put a buy offer in at 1gp higher... that's been a thing forever, so seeing it without having to buy or sell something to 'price check' only affects high price low volume stuff if any. 3- i would like a better sales history that can be looked up, and if done correctly, it'll let people who know how to look for it, spot pump and dumps easy, my suggestion would be a plot point graph, most people can see where it's concentrated and easily filter out outliers even without learning statistics properly. and if its split into 2 clusters, then someones clearly trying to manipulate it. have it be 30 or 60 minutes delayed so you can only see what was sold an hour ago and no problems =)
Flipping is basically intraday trading irl. Quite a little bit will change for you flippers if everybody see current quotes. You will only lose profit on very lazy players, or those who don't know how basic economy works (which is really not you being smart, but others being dum or impatient, so i feel bad for you if you have to exploit it to get some coins). But i think they should go even further and allow speculating by taking shorts. You basically said that viewing prices will crush markets and make it inefficient for non-speculant players. Bro, after that you SHOULD really explain how exchange trades is inefficient irl haha. Exchanges really made for ppl and companies to make efficient win/win trades ASAP since 15th century lol. Nowdays it's even more efficient and fast, simply because EVERYBODY can see prices realtime, which makes whole thing even faster, you don't have to stay in trading hall to get your price and make a deal. Runescape ge is like 1980s NYSE for some reason. It's a freaking 2024 for gods sake.
Jagex just needs to leave our gp the hell alone. Theres a ton of other things that could use some tweaking and fixing and they wanna fix stuff that aint broke. Typical Jagex.
100% agree with you on taxes should be removed and also bond conversion should not cost 10% if you are transferring within the same jagex account. About the rest of the g.e changes... i wish they shelf it permanently. G.E is good as it is. Hope they don't mess it up over and over again. They could instead add more features to max guild or even add a comp guild or something...
Taxes should be removed? No, definitely not. That is a net gain for the entire game. So much gold is removed from the ge tax. Deflation in a 20 year old game with infinite gold is never bad.
@@NM-qd3tm Dude chill... its a game, not real life. As he mentioned, we're here to play not end up paying taxes for every item. Casual players who don't even understand the word voted for it and they added it on RS3. It should've never been added in the first place.
@@PowerfulVillainso you would rather pay 10s of millions in death costs instead a little bit of tax once in awhile? The ge tax is one of the reasons death costs are so much cheaper which helps the game over all
@@brandondegnan1012 Neither. The concept of tax shouldn't be burdened in a game we play for fun, specifically when it involves kids under 12 who also happen to play the game. Death cost rework and g.e tax have nothing to do with each other. They're from different eras.

Doesn't ely have a lot of drama related to alleged price manipulation? I am not sure I would want the GE to work like ely.

Yes, it's owned by one of the most well known manipulators in RS.

The only thing i would be really interested in would be a better search for the GE
Ge is like... Oh you forgot the ' in guthan's? no items for you!
I am game for the Insta Buy and Insta Sell functions as a whole. I am also game for the customized percentage function!
You're game, we get it. 😂

2 - yes they are, but not most players are not price check INS a 500m item. Referring more towards those items.
Filter/sort BANK by skill type/combat type.
love your content, thanks for posting!
Last 10 transactions prices, live prices, would be more useful. Guess jagex can’t do real stock exchanges functions, even the most basic ones.
I love the videos! Thanks again for another great post on whats going on. 22+ year player and finally starting to make money because of your content!
Happy it helps :)
Ge tax limit like osrs would be fair game(feels bad when you sell anything and lose hundreds of millions)
Would be better if instead of seeing top offers but see recently traded offers and a button to match it
Look at the title. @ 00:27
i like ge tax, i think it was smart. i flip, and pvm, and i much prefer to pay rs taxes via ge than to pay high death costs.
Not saying gold sinks aren't smart, they are. There are just far better ways of doing it. Death costs are not the only sinks.
As an ironman ill be collecting my mahogany logs from miscellania
The tax on ge is a good thing whether you want it or not. Always trying to imply it isn't self interest, but clearly it is.
No, it’s not. There are many other games that implemented gold sinks in ways that are far less annoying.
if they want to do something usefulis make it so we can store more than 2.1 bil gp in our banks
This would be nice

Hard disagree. The tax is good; helps to delete items which would begin to have excess, and devalue many persons endgame loot experiences.
