Yes, 20 years here y'all. Alot of good stretches between playing. Need some 2 year gaps away from the game. You have to enjoy life in the real world, but what a journey... Market was so easy back then. Especially if you were legit, everyone lit up your pm when you logged in. Mining rune ores 13kea and four loads a day. Then running a legit hot/cold game with the flowers making roughly 35% profit after payouts. Killing fire giants. Easily made 3mil a day back then. Basically, for six hours of game play, you made 3mil. That is at a time when red party hats were 3.5mil, blues 5mil. Crackers were 6.5mil. Needless to say, most of us had as many rares as we had materials for training in our accounts. Now look what happened... I have absolutely no interest in the game anymore, other than to see how it has evolved. Different game and different community than in 2004. Hope life has treated you all well and it's filled with blessings from above...
law runes were ABSOLUTELY 1k each in 04. i remember LAW running in world 66 for law runes and you'd sell them for 1k each that was a HUGE money maker in 04. world 66 law runecrafters were one of the first like "world tagged activities" i can remember.. the runecrafters wore full zammy robes. top and bottom and you'd trade them ESSENCE not PURE ESS, they'd give you the equivalent in law runes,run to draynor and repeat. all while sea shanty 2 was playing. i feel like world 66 law runners is a HUGE reason why sea shanty is such a nostalgic song because in 04 runescape as far as i remember you couldnt turn off the music so you were forced to listen to sea shanty 2 for hours while running law runes. but yeah 100% law runes were 1k. and running nature runes was 20k-25k a trip! EDIT: running laws and teleing camelot was PEAK magic XP training

@@Rargh to be honest rargh i couldnt tell you why they were 1keach. maybe the naivety of the player base at that time? i was 10 when i was playing in 04. im not sure if anyone at the time was like oh let me buy from shops and hop 100 times. no one was about efficiency like today. but i remember like yesterday law runes were 1keach and nature running 20-25kper trip i essence ran for WEEKS to afford dragon platelegs for like 2.8m or something? only to die when GWD came out and i didnt know anything about the god items, so i went down the rope and died in two ticks and back then no gravestone so everyone just grabbed my items. very sad day.
As someone who stopped playing around the time rune equipment was first introduces and graduated in 04, don't remind me. Just got back into the game last year and my god has this game changed. The fact that you could MAKE runes blew my mind. Magic was useless when I played and now there are multiple spellbooks!?

We got 2 others to start playing & all had memberships. Running around the map while talking on the phone getting killed by unicorns, screaming, laughing, & just having a ball. I don't think a game can replicate that fun for me again. Pokemon on the gameboy & fortnite the first couple seasons is up there but still not close to Runescape & that's saying something
Can't talk about nats in '04 without talking about the entire industry that was "essence running". I remember interacting with entire player run companies with hundreds of employees and managerial ranks, and even boards to run them, lmfao.
I miss pre GE. Specifically bank sales and the market. Like runes were sold by the varrock West Bank door and clue rewards were sold north of the bank. Steel bars were sold in fally and bows were sold by fletchers in Camelot. That was peak RuneScape.
I thought varrock selling was only when 07 scape dropped, my old memory was being in fally park to buy and sell stuff, esp rares, I remember the rare selling spot was near the fally park wall

Dragon Spear was 1M back in the day because it was the only dragon weapon that could be equip without a quest requirement. When so many people didn't understand safe spots or quest guides, quests like Lost City were hard.

Oh I remember the first time i ever went and tried to kill metal dragons in brim dungeon and some dude was wearing ahrims and infinity boots and gloves(which had just came out) and like 10k bloods and I was right there to grab them...that was worth like 15x my whole bank that's when i got my first whip ever.
Best mkney maker back in 2004 was identifying herbs. Kept 1 of each unid in your invent of the herbs you wanted and bought unids off randoms at fally east for 1k each 😊

I remember when warding was being polled and the price of bark skyrocketed, everybody was out there chopping bark assuming that itd be a big warding training method to make magic armor
What a blast from the past. Splitbark was 100-200k at the time. You were lucky to find laws as low as 750, it took hours and you had to buy over 1k runes to get those prices. Individual laws would routinely sell for 2k. What a great video

As an iron. Yes I chopped for the bark and did shades for the fine cloth. Mainly for the end goal of blood bark which is almost ahrims equivalent. Full ahrims can take a LONG time but this was more guaranteed. Got lucky and pulled the blood book and pushed rc for blood bark. Still a dope flex on my acc to this day.

I started playing RS during the Rubber Chicken event in 05, and am still salty to this day I couldn’t get it. I had no clue where Falador was, nor how to view the map, and I thought the Newcomer Map I bought from the general store in Varrock was the actual map. Turns out it was the most inaccurate POS ever, and I kept ending up close to the Black Knights north of Fally, but the map would show me as being in Falador.
Are you referring to the Easter event that gave you a chicken outfit? As a kid I think I started at that time as well. Are you sure it was 2005? Lol about the newcomer map.
I have 99WC on osrs because magic logs were 1k ea before the GE came to OSRS. I remember buying rune sets for 180k then moving from/to seers or varrock or fally to sell them for 220k ea. I also would buy dragon skimmys on ape atol for 100k and sell them at banks for 120-140k ea. Rune arrows were 1k-1.5k ea at one point. I didnt play in 04 i started playing in 05 so my early memorys of osrs are 05-09 then early osrs. I remember when the dragon axe got released with dagonoth kings and the Daxe was 3-5m. I was cutting magic trees south of seers and back then the axe head could fly off and you had to pick up your axe head and use it on your axe handle to continue cutting. Well someones dragon axe head flew off, and they were either botting of AFK cause it spawned on the floor. I grabbed it and spent the next like 3 hours trying to buy an axe handle. I bought a axe handle for 350k..... Another old money maker i had back then was buying different color boots and gloves from the shop in canifis and selling them in F2P worlds that other wise couldnt get them for 10-20k ea there was huge margin on items that could be used in F2P but required members to get. The colored boots and gloves and trimmed armor are the 2 that come to mind

Not 04 i dont think, i started in 06 as an idiot kid and was liberally helplessly too underdeveloped to figure out how to do the coolest stuff in the game l0l. I remember getting the dds it was a huge deal. I also got scammed and lost absolutely everything for one single grog.
@@wazup3333 an extremely obscure item, so obscure there was (if I recall correctly) no wiki entry on where a player could even obtain one. The scammers chose this item for that reason. A player befriended me and showed me hundreds of mils worth of items in a trade screen. He said "I'll trade you all of this for a grog, I need one and I have never been able to find one. Be on the lookout, if you find one let me know I'll trade you all this stuff for it." Of course I look this up and discover a barren wiki page on the item. So I went searching for a grog. Another player who was teamed with the first scammer (or was probably the same person" stalked my character and was spamming "selling ___, ___, and grog" In world 2. So I purchased the grog for proposterous gp, he said it was the rarest item in game and it was goimg to cost a lot. After i obtained it, i went to the first scammer and Said "I've got the grog" he responded "...i needed 2 grogs" then tried to get me to go buy another for the rest of my bank, and that's when I realized I was scammed lol. I was like 10, I fell for it. Turns out although a grog is extremely obscure, it's just that. It's apparently easily obtainable. Since it's such a pointless item, no one ever bothered to make much of a wiki entry on the item. (At the time). Pretty clever scam tbh when you consider most scams were swapping rune scimitar's in the trade screen with iron scimitar's lol. Or "doubling gp".
You could guarantee only buying valuable unids back then too, All you'd have to do is get a stack of unids you knew what were, and fill your inventory with other junk, so you'd only have space for the trade if they were offering good herbs.
The herb part absolutely sent me back in time. I spent many hour killing chaos druid in Taverly Dungeon, and then selling the unidentified herbs in Falador West bank. Seing the prices from back then, I was definitely scammed xD But I was very happy with 1k each back then

I specifically remember buying a robin hood for 2m in 2005. I was a "Ranger" and getting 70 Ranged was the happiest day of my 11 year old life. Walking around everywhere in black dhide, a magic short bow, and a robin hood - GoldSlate9 felt like the baddest kid in town.

At one time you could get full guthans for 3 red Halloween masks.... I remember Santa hats for 500k, varrok bank was popping off, falador too. Rares sold behind the wall north of falador park. Each little section of fally park was for something. D chains just south of rares, barrows near the pond and bridge, bulk runes and arrows just west of the east bank, dragon axes and glories north of the west bank. Dragon bones and prayer pots too. Take me back when the game was fun and new instead of the grind haha

Just started the video but you fishing reminded me the good ol' days of fishing lobsters for hours upon hours in catherby! Sure you fished sharks in the fishing guild but I never got that high of a level so was lobsters and swordfish/tuna for me 😂 great video rargh! Thanks for the video. It was fun trying to remember the prices before you revealing them. I bought my first Robin Hood hat in early 2005 for 3.2mil, so not sure if it could have been as little as 1.5 a few months earlier. Other than that the prices seem quite on point. (Black d hide set with vambs sold for 35-40k btw).
Would love a series one day Rargh where you start a fresh account and only train via 04 methods, kill 04 monsters and complete 04 quests. This episode was great, but it loses some of the magic when all the levels you have were obviously leveled using modern methods. Buying the dragon long back then was an amazing feat, but only because of the slow burn work you had to put in to train your levels high enough to use it.
Sweet vid, great nostalgia, lots of fun. I do think a great idea would be you vs Link race to Max. Bet 100 Mil or something, get to the same total skill lvl and just hard charge for a month. You both are so close, could be fun to see

This video brings back so many memories and nostalgia. it reminds me of all the bank sales back in the day and hoping to world 2 and remembering how packed fally park was. I love the video and hope you make more of these. My suggestion is maybe make a time line series starting from 2004 and go through each and every year up too 2010. Just a thought. I think that would be awesome to watch since there were alot of game changing updates in those years. Anyway keep it up i love the videos :D
I’m actually extremely disappointed you didn’t get the d chain…. Also some of the money making methods would have been slower and more difficult. Blue dragons was always packed and the next best option was wildly green dragons. Which were a little slower to kill because you didn’t bring bis gear and you had pkers all the time
I love these 2004 videos. Back then it was so hard to make money, unless you were older than 7, then you just took advantage of the kids. Maybe a video like this, but on a noob account and the journey to first rune set.

I quit playing once they reintroduced GE. I absolutely loved having to network with people i n order to run my businesses. GE killed all that.

What a blast from the past. Splitbark was 100-200k at the time. You were lucky to find laws as low as 750, it took hours and you had to buy over 1k runes to get those prices. Individual laws would routinely sell for 2k. What a great video

As an iron. Yes I chopped for the bark and did shades for the fine cloth. Mainly for the end goal of blood bark which is almost ahrims equivalent. Full ahrims can take a LONG time but this was more guaranteed. Got lucky and pulled the blood book and pushed rc for blood bark. Still a dope flex on my acc to this day.

I started playing RS during the Rubber Chicken event in 05, and am still salty to this day I couldn’t get it. I had no clue where Falador was, nor how to view the map, and I thought the Newcomer Map I bought from the general store in Varrock was the actual map. Turns out it was the most inaccurate POS ever, and I kept ending up close to the Black Knights north of Fally, but the map would show me as being in Falador.
Are you referring to the Easter event that gave you a chicken outfit? As a kid I think I started at that time as well. Are you sure it was 2005?

I have 99WC on osrs because magic logs were 1k ea before the GE came to OSRS. I remember buying rune sets for 180k then moving from/to seers or varrock or fally to sell them for 220k ea. I also would buy dragon skimmys on ape atol for 100k and sell them at banks for 120-140k ea.
Rune arrows were 1k-1.5k ea at one point. I didnt play in 04 i started playing in 05 so my early memorys of osrs are 05-09 then early osrs.
I remember when the dragon axe got released with dagonoth kings and the Daxe was 3-5m. I was cutting magic trees south of seers and back then the axe head could fly off and you had to pick up your axe head and use it on your axe handle to continue cutting. Well someones dragon axe head flew off, and they were either botting of AFK cause it spawned on the floor. I grabbed it and spent the next like 3 hours trying to buy an axe handle. I bought a axe handle for 350k.....
Another old money maker i had back then was buying different color boots and gloves from the shop in canifis and selling them in F2P worlds that other wise couldnt get them for 10-20k ea there was huge margin on items that could be used in F2P but required members to get. The colored boots and gloves and trimmed armor are the 2 that come to mind

Remember when barragers would plague the wilderness line and wear "invisible robes" 100% of the time? Not 04 i dont think, i started in 06 as an idiot kid and was liberally helplessly too underdeveloped to figure out how to do the coolest stuff in the game l0l. I remember getting the dds it was a huge deal.
I also got scammed and lost absolutely everything for one single grog.
What's a grog?
@@wazup3333 an extremely obscure item, so obscure there was (if I recall correctly) no wiki entry on where a player could even obtain one. The scammers chose this item for that reason.
A player befriended me and showed me hundreds of mils worth of items in a trade screen. He said "I'll trade you all of this for a grog, I need one and I have never been able to find one. Be on the lookout, if you find one let me know I'll trade you all this stuff for it."
Of course I look this up and discover a barren wiki page on the item. So I went searching for a grog. Another player who was teamed with the first scammer (or was probably the same person" stalked my character and was spamming "selling ___, ___, and grog" In world 2.
So I purchased the grog for proposterous gp, he said it was the rarest item in game and it was goimg to cost a lot. After i obtained it, i went to the first scammer and Said "I've got the grog" he responded "...i needed 2 grogs" then tried to get me to go buy another for the rest of my bank, and that's when I realized I was scammed lol. I was like 10, I fell for it.
Turns out although a grog is extremely obscure, it's just that. It's apparently easily obtainable. Since it's such a pointless item, no one ever bothered to make much of a wiki entry on the item. (At the time). Pretty clever scam tbh when you consider most scams were swapping rune scimitar's in the trade screen with iron scimitar's lol. Or "doubling gp".

Ghostly robes were the best! So sick almost never see them anymore but definitely one of the coolest items in RS

You could guarantee only buying valuable unids back then too, All you'd have to do is get a stack of unids you knew what were, and fill your inventory with other junk, so you'd only have space for the trade if they were offering good herbs.
The herb part absolutely sent me back in time. I spent many hour killing chaos druid in Taverly Dungeon, and then selling the unidentified herbs in Falador West bank.
Seing the prices from back then, I was definitely scammed xD
But I was very happy with 1k each back then
not really a scam when you cant afford to level herblore to identify the herbs
The #1 moneymaker back then was for sure merching people on the forums

I specifically remember buying a robin hood for 2m in 2005. I was a "Ranger" and getting 70 Ranged was the happiest day of my 11 year old life. Walking around everywhere in black dhide, a magic short bow, and a robin hood - GoldSlate9 felt like the baddest kid in town.
6:30 hit me on some of that goooood nostalgia remembering stepping away from the Lumbridge Castle bank and typing “buying varrock tele 5k” six times in a row when I realized i was short on runes
I was there Gandalf. I was there 3000 years ago...... my account was made march 8th 2002. Missed seeing the birth of party hats by 7 ish weeks but I remember it all. At one time you could get full guthans for 3 red Halloween masks.... I remember Santa hats for 500k, varrok bank was popping off, falador too. Rares sold behind the wall north of falador park. Each little section of fally park was for something. D chains just south of rares, barrows near the pond and bridge, bulk runes and arrows just west of the east bank, dragon axes and glories north of the west bank. Dragon bones and prayer pots too. Take me back when the game was fun and new instead of the grind haha

Just started the video but you fishing reminded me the good ol' days of fishing lobsters for hours upon hours in catherby! Sure you fished sharks in the fishing guild but I never got that high of a level so was lobsters and swordfish/tuna for me 😂 great video rargh! As much as I love the pvp challenges, it's always a nice little spice of freshness when you do other content and I'm totally here for it 😊 keep up the great work my man ❤

I bought my first Robin Hood hat in early 2005 for 3.2mil, so not sure if it could have been as little as 1.5 a few months earlier. Other than that the prices seem quite on point. (Black d hide set with vambs sold for 35-40k btw).

Would love a series one day Rargh where you start a fresh account and only train via 04 methods, kill 04 monsters and complete 04 quests.
This episode was great, but it loses some of the magic when all the levels you have were obviously leveled using modern methods. Buying the dragon long back then was an amazing feat, but only because of the slow burn work you had to put in to train your levels high enough to use it.

I do think a great idea would be you vs Link race to Max. Bet 100 Mil or something, get to the same total skill lvl and just hard charge for a month. You both are so close, could be fun to see

This video brings back so many memories and nostalgia. it reminds me of all the bank sales back in the day and hoping to world 2 and remembering how packed fally park was. I love the video and hope you make more of these. My suggestion is maybe make a time line series starting from 2004 and go through each and every year up too 2010. Just a thought. I think that would be awesome to watch since there were alot of game changing updates in those years. Anyway keep it up i love the videos :D

I’m actually extremely disappointed you didn’t get the d chain…. Also some of the money making methods would have been slower and more difficult. Blue dragons was always packed and the next best option was wildly green dragons. Which were a little slower to kill because you didn’t bring bis gear and you had pkers all the time
