Yea man this album was much more fleshed out. It was rumored that Joji rushed the release of Smithereens to get out of his contract with his label, 88Rising but I cant actually confirm that. It makes sense tho given how unfinished the album sounded.

i just searched it up and smithereens was released half a year after he left 88rising, so the album was probably unfinished because he probably felt like if he didn't release the album quick, the contract would be dropped, and thats probably why he only wrote 2 songs on the album
