- On this day in 2000, Prince William was joined by his father, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales for a press conference on his younger prince's plans for his gap year. Speaking in the gardens of Charles's Gloucestershire home of Highgrove, William described receiving his A-Level results while up a mountain in Belize, his plans to go to Chile on his gap year, and how he went about raising the funds for his travels. he also spoke about how upset he and his brother Prince Harry were about the publication of a book about his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

My goodness, Prince William looks so much like his Mum, Princess Diana. The pride of his Papa is palpable.
He does. But if we see personality wise, Harry is more like his mum.
@Jiya-cg7hs It certainly appears as if Prince William got the best of both of his parents, and a good dose of his grandmother HMTQ as well.
Charles was looking quite fresh at the time too.
I actually think he looks like a young Prince Phillip! Everyone thinks he looks like Diana though. He definitely has her charisma!

Yes, Charles looks very proud of his son. It's amazing to me that William mentioned Harry with such caring and love. He loved his brother only to be betrayed by him.
Of course he was and is well spoken. He was and is extremely well educated. That interview was the year before university, so at that age, a well educated individual is, indeed, well spoken. In addition, his upbringing was the best, where education, respect, and good manners were on top of the list. Prince William has always been extremely well mannered and respectful.

@ He was only 17 or 18 here. It doesn’t matter how much education one has, either you have the ability to vocalize eloquence or you don’t. His brother who received the same education by his 18th birthday was busy dressing up in a nazi costume and could barely string two words together.🙄

I always caught my late mum looking at me with what I can only describe as awe / pride. With ❤️❤️❤️ in his eyes, Charles is obviously very proud of William ...

Put that next to the picture of William as a baby with Diana & Charles trying to keep him on the blanket with a hoard of photographers there in line. Or better yet when he was a toddler also with his parents, but right in front of the photographer explaining what a camera does. It was one of the sweetest pics.
Was it? He was cute, sure, but diana and charles did over do it with exposing their children to the media.
@@MaliKamicak I understand what you are saying, but there was a demand & expectation for Charles & Diana's to show them. It was not every day but she was the 1st royal to travel with children so that was different. It seemed like it was initially 1st day of their school, royal events & probably inc. interest after Diana passed. Now there is too much coverage of PH & MM. It's constant, too much complaining when they live in luxury & we in the states don't see them doing anything productive.

@ someone from the media went down during his stay and interviewed him and filmed what he was doing
any environmental work was only a small part of it
besides DJ, cleaning and cooking duties, he taught English in schools
besides other things
and they were building wooden walkways, great for the environment
but he talked about the other things he did more
great to see he still is in to conservation like his father and grandfather

Charles looks great at this age, William too, of course!
This shows how thoughtful the training and education of William was, as it must be for a future King. Beyond an excellent education it included hands-on working with those less fortunate and to improve living conditions. His hands-on helping continued with his rescue pilot work after college. No wonder he connects so well with everyday people as he goes about his public duties.
Looking back at these footages, I'd say:
Thank you Diana for this beautiful man.
Thank you Charles for his intelligence.

You can tell that Prince William has grown into an adult who understands that our parents were "growing up" too, when they were raising us. That we settle into the idea that they have done their best, and now we must do *our* parenting best, and all move forward as family, and as *ADULTS.* Unlike some folk who think they must have an apology for how "horrible" our lives were as children. I have always thought Prince William to be a carbon copy of his late mother, however I see that he also has some of his father’s features as well. I don’t care what Harry says about KC3 not being a loving father, anyone can see the love he has for his boy’s. You absolutely cannot fake the way he looks lovingly at William and with such pride.
