FYI @ 7:28 : Original name of the character was Jesse McCree, who was a reference to a former Blizzard empoloyee, who apparently was involved in the Blizzard harassment shit. Afterwards Blizzard decided to change the name to Cassidy. The short was made before the scandal.
theres so much lore that they actually miss out on by only watching cinematics. things like origin stories explain so much about reasoning behind characters, along with the overwatch archives event that happened a while ago that gave more lore from overwatch's past that new players wont get to experience, and theres comics and actual short stories that give so much insight into the overwatch universe its sad theyre missing out
My absolute favorite thing about zero hour is how dramatic and amazing they made Genji's intro to the cinematic was. The best part was that they wouldn't even have won that fight without Genji specifically, he saved winston, created the opening where the cryo bomb was placed, and cut off the hand that would have grabbed tracer which would have ruined tue whole thing.
but they changed it to show respect to the victims of a horrible crime. No one's denying that McCree is a cool name for the character, but since it was to give homage and immortalize someone who committed horrible acts, they thought it best to change it, and i'm glad they did.
You know, Usually I write off reaction videos as someone just trying to make quick clicks doing minimal work. But you four actually bring something to the table and made crying at overwatch cenematics fun. Cheers to you.
The cinematics at 42:00 and 44:10 are both for Heroes of the Storm. When the first cinematic was shown, it was to introduce D'va and Genji to the game, as well as a Hanamura map. The second was when they introduced Hanzo and Alexstrasza (a character from World of Warcraft). Other Overwatch characters that are in Heroes of the Storm are Tracer, Zarya (also released a Volkaya map at the same time), Lucio, Ana, Junkrat, and, more recently, Mei. I'd also like to add, they did a REALLY good job of transferring their kit from Overwatch to HotS. There are differences, but they still feel like the same character. It's unfortunate Blizz shut down development of the game. It still has a decent sized player bass so it's far from a dead game. Blizzard fucked up the marketing and monetization of it, so it wasn't pulling in as much as they wanted.
the woman at 45:00 is alexstrasza from World of Warcraft, another game from blizzard. Along with the diablo video were advertisements for the game Heroes of the storm, they have nothing to do with the story of OW
The fact that you have to pay for the main story missions but tthe kings rows mission are released in days just make it a full on story mode not paying for it
Overwatch is basically GI Joe and Talon is Cobra. One is a peace keeping agency and the other is a terrorist organization. About half the characters belong to one or the other.
So, Kiriko's mother actually trained the children of Clan Shimada, Genji and Hanzo. The two of them view Kiriko almost as a niece. When the Shimada crime family fell apart, the Hashimoto took over. It's why they are in Shimada castle in the Dragons short too. They took over Kanezaka, where Kiriko has said the people are now under her protection.
I know I'm really late here but I still don't see many comments about this. The red dragon lady in the HOTS cinematic's name is Alexstrasza the Life-Binder and she's one of the Dragon Aspects (extremely powerful, important and ancient beings that protect the Azeroth - most of the world that WoW takes place in) and she is basically the god of life itself, hence why she just made the arrow come "alive" and was just kinda chill and never really trying to kill Hanzo. Also she's the queen of all dragons (and IS a dragon, the "humanoid" form is just her visage which every sentient dragon can conjure) :)
The Dragon Hanzo fought is Alexstrasza from World of Warcraft, she is is the guardian of all life in the world of Azeroth. The titans from WoW also appointed her queen of all dragons. (she is good aligned)
The last cinematic with Genji/Dva/Diablo and Hanzo/Dragon. The dragon lady is Alexstraza, who is the head of the red dragonflight. She'll be a big character in the next expansion dropping in a few hours as I type this. They were pure crossover cinematics that were a lot of fun. Also Dva ate chips and soda because she's an esports pro (them making fun of the stereotype) who got converted to the mech squad. She's also only 19, for those that see her as waifu.
Kiriko's Front Door is at the end of the hallway, so if you look throw the peak hole you see the whole Hallway. That is why her mom could see everything. The door was not on the side. They did kinda Focus on the last door in the corridor because that was Kiriko's Apartment.
45:24 that is Alexstrasza queen of the red dragons in WOW universe, she is one of the five dragon aspect. She is actually one of the the strongest NPCs in WOW but the only stronger one from her is Nosdormu the keeper of time, he is a collector and maintains order of time flow in past, present and future. He can see all that happened, what is happening and what will happen. Also he doesn't spoil what will happen he will just gently guide mortals into right track.
42:48 That is a clip from the cinematic for “Heroes of the Storm”. The MOBA game that has characters from all the Blizzard games including Diablo, etc. He’s not in Overwatch at all. However, they included a handful of Overwatch heroes into Heroes of the Storm.
They are making a campaign mode for overwatch 2 its just coming later. This is just a theory but it could come out when the next season releases because the new hero that's releasing along side it is the leader of the enemy faction seen in the overwatch 2 announcement cinematic
So here’s a tip. DVA Bomb is a line of sight ultimate. Meaning if there is a wall or puller between you and the ult it won’t hurt you. Not sure y’all will see this but it took me several days to figure out
OW2's story mode is gonna be co-op, but it IS coming. It's just that the PVP section of the game had to launch early, so that the game could earn money again after a THREE YEAR content drought (no, new skins doesn't count as content). You can find footage on TH-cam of OW TH-camrs playing an early version of one of the first missions from this PvE mode (Mei, Rein, Tracer, Lucio) on TH-cam. Kiriko isn't a member of OW in the same way that Spider-Man isn't a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. They're a global level organisation, she's just a city level hero, doing what's best for her own. I expect that she'll be playable on ONE mission, focused on Japan, but only that one - likely with Genji, Mercy and Winston (Genji since they grew up together, Mercy since she has the romantic tie to Genji and saved her life, Winston to round out the 121 composition that story based missions have). Meanwhile, other characters, such as Rein/Echo/etc, would show up on MULTIPLE missions as they're a part of the new OW organisation.
You guys should consider stopping after every cinematic for like half an hour or an hour to talk about everything to get it out of your system so that you dont talk over 80% of the dialogue every time...was a bit sad that you missed so much stuff by talking over it
Little easter egg in the last video (Kiriko): The Hashimoto gang member who says he wants to call for BACKUP (who gets his hair split by the axe in the elevator) is the SAME guy who was seen in the Hanzo/Genji video where he ALSO tried to call for backup and FAILED in a similar fashion (Hanzo shoots his phone) and knocking himself out by running against the giant bell.
The ingame dialog basically says that the mother is a better fighter than Kirito, Genji, and Hanzo. But she didn't like that life so she left it. But the grandmother wanted her to at least be able to survive on her own.
In Overwatch 1, there were campaign missions from before Overwatch was disbanded. But they were seasonal. Once a year kind of events. Not 100% sure why they restricted the old storyline to only be played during certain times.

@@sunshui6114 just an allegation is enough to tarnish someone's name, so Blizzard changed his name to cut all ties with him.
“Your Grandma would be so proud of you”
*EMOTIONAL DAMAGE*
God I hope they check out all the origins too. I think they’d love to see more glimpses of backstories and the history of the world!!
the reacted to the origins before this one
theres so much lore that they actually miss out on by only watching cinematics. things like origin stories explain so much about reasoning behind characters, along with the overwatch archives event that happened a while ago that gave more lore from overwatch's past that new players wont get to experience, and theres comics and actual short stories that give so much insight into the overwatch universe its sad theyre missing out
Was waiting for this! Part 1 made me and a buddy play Overwatch again and it's really fun
you guys are talking over the best partsss, holy shittttt
My absolute favorite thing about zero hour is how dramatic and amazing they made Genji's intro to the cinematic was. The best part was that they wouldn't even have won that fight without Genji specifically, he saved winston, created the opening where the cryo bomb was placed, and cut off the hand that would have grabbed tracer which would have ruined tue whole thing.
“Uh oh we showed Genji being strong in a cinematic that doesn’t at all reflect actual gameplay balance; better nerf Genji”
- Blizzard, probably
Ashe says his name is Jessie Mcree, the one and only. Jessie Mcree is such a good fictional character with a nice name.
but they changed it to show respect to the victims of a horrible crime. No one's denying that McCree is a cool name for the character, but since it was to give homage and immortalize someone who committed horrible acts, they thought it best to change it, and i'm glad they did.
@@thebrofessor4173 the name Jessie has a lot of people using it, we can’t change everyone’s name :(
@@tentenhyuga4832 we aren't changing everyone's names. Literally just this one lmao
You know, Usually I write off reaction videos as someone just trying to make quick clicks doing minimal work.
But you four actually bring something to the table and made crying at overwatch cenematics fun. Cheers to you.
❤️
Mcree was a member of a criminal gang before he became a member of Overwatch.
the woman at 45:00 is alexstrasza from World of Warcraft, another game from blizzard. Along with the diablo video were advertisements for the game Heroes of the storm, they have nothing to do with the story of OW
I will never call Mcree Cassidy
The fact that you have to pay for the main story missions but tthe kings rows mission are released in days just make it a full on story mode not paying for it
Overwatch is basically GI Joe and Talon is Cobra. One is a peace keeping agency and the other is a terrorist organization. About half the characters belong to one or the other.
"I just want a game where I can play a campaign with the characters" 😭
Also fun to note, before Sombra's cinematic dropped, there was a whole ARG around it. Fun times. Should be able to find videos on it if you want.
im late as hell but i slammed my fist when they were talking about how watching these just made them wanted to have a pve story mode
WE ALL DID DAMMIT
So, Kiriko's mother actually trained the children of Clan Shimada, Genji and Hanzo. The two of them view Kiriko almost as a niece. When the Shimada crime family fell apart, the Hashimoto took over. It's why they are in Shimada castle in the Dragons short too. They took over Kanezaka, where Kiriko has said the people are now under her protection.
Charcter:(*exsist*)
Sione:its hatin time
I know I'm really late here but I still don't see many comments about this.
The domino of Gasps when the old guy got shot😂 52:40
Watching this made me inhale the air i just exhaled, love you guys! (And yes the Kiriko ine is very funny) keep the funny stuff up!!! 😄
Well there's a newer cinematic "Calling", plus the whole "invasion" ingame story cinematics.
25:03 I love that it’s basically implied she was aiming for his “personal parts”😂
28:30 roadhog is also there
36:06 just love the music build and climax when everyone comes in to help. I have replayed this cinematic so much just for that piece of music
Me, at 2am:
Guess I'll finally go to sleep.
Sees the video, sees how long it is.
Me: fuck
😂
My favorite part is the talking through the best moments. Just speak during the quiet parts not during the big action.
So Kiriko actually isn't a member of Overwatch, she's part of a makeshift neighborhood vigilante group that's dedicated to protecting her city
The last couple of videos with diablo and Alexstraza were videos for Heroes of the Storm. Blizzards MOBA where characters from all their games fought.
Sombra's "boop" isn't so innocent, but rather an added threat, as the chairwoman's desk has a picture where she gives her daughter a "boop".
"To be evil in Overwatch, you are wearing either black or Purple"
Doomfist: 👀
They are making a campaign mode for overwatch 2 its just coming later. This is just a theory but it could come out when the next season releases because the new hero that's releasing along side it is the leader of the enemy faction seen in the overwatch 2 announcement cinematic
Oh boy did we not know.
@@QuaversYT Yeah
21:37 that fourth wall break tho
It’s 6 am, I’ve been up all night but your “overwatch 2” comment to avoid legal repercussions made me cackle
6:35 this cinematic was actually closer to the end of overwatch 1, echo was the last character added to ow1 and ashe wasn't too far behind her
that dragon lady was Alexstraza from WoW. she is the Queen of Dragons
YEAAAAA THANKS FOR MAKING THIS
You guys should consider stopping after every cinematic for like half an hour or an hour to talk about everything to get it out of your system so that you dont talk over 80% of the dialogue every time...was a bit sad that you missed so much stuff by talking over it
45:00 “Is she also from Diablo?”
No, she’s from World of Warcraft. That’s Alexstraza, the progenitor of the red dragons in the WoW universe.
Don’t you love not being able to hear a single word from any of the videos 😂
watching people who dont know much about the backstories or the game makes watching this a whole lot funnier as someone who has played for years.
I mean no matter how weeboo you are when the "Let the kitsune guide you" after seeing this cinematic, you'll get a couple of chills.
Yeah, one of them litterally said "Oh, it's the hair guy!"
Guys a lot of the questions you ask are told during the cinematic lol.
Sombra is chaotic neutral
McCree will never be Cassidy to me. McCree is too badass a name to give up for performative reasons
A yes. Not wanting to honor a sexual predator is performative. Touch grass
The ingame dialog basically says that the mother is a better fighter than Kirito, Genji, and Hanzo. But she didn't like that life so she left it. But the grandmother wanted her to at least be able to survive on her own.
"genji can deflect literally everything."
Sigma and his big rock: I beg to differ
In Overwatch 1, there were campaign missions from before Overwatch was disbanded. But they were seasonal. Once a year kind of events. Not 100% sure why they restricted the old storyline to only be played during certain times.
