Donald Glover is actually the reason Miles exists in the first place. Brian Michael Bendis (creator of Miles) saw that episode of Community where Glover was wearing Spider-Man pajamas, and it inspired him to create Miles. I think that Spider-Verse finally managed to make some people start to realize that animation is an almost limitless art form that can do so much if you can only think of it. This movie absolutely wouldn't work in live action, and if it did, it wouldn't be half as effective or visually interesting. This is basically art at its purest.

Not to say that the Sonic films are doing bad, but they could’ve been better with animation alone.

Exactly! Lately, many were spreading the thought of superhero fatigue, and I didn’t _completely_ agree, solely because not every superhero movie has been bad. I think that started with Phase 4 of the MCU, and while we’ve had some mid-awful ones, not everything was garbage (No Way Home and Guardians 3 were some of the best recent MCU movies, even when the former was fan service without much consistency). Many other productions have shown to be better than the MCU with superhero movies, primarily because lots of them have had better writing and more ambitious storytelling that entices the audience more. Plus, most of them show that you can still represent a lot of people of different traits (like nationalities, genders, and romantic interests), as long as you make sure the story exists to tell more about the character rather than just one or more of those traits and that you showcase those traits appropriately (not in some stereotypical, non-comedic and blatantly sexist way like She-Hulk).

Here's something that will blow your mind. In the comics, Miles Morales comes from Earth-1610 where his uncle, Aaron Davis is the villain known as the Prowler. Earth-1610 was created in 2000, but the character of the Prowler existed as far back as the 1970s in the main Earth-616 universe. The Prowler of the Earth-616 universe is more of an anti-hero who is an ally of Peter Parker's Amazing Spider-Man most of the time, but occasionally an enemy. 616 Prowler also isn't Aaron Davis, who was a unique character to Earth-1610, and was created as an antagonist for Miles Morales's Ultimate Spider-Man.

Also, I reckon that most of them are pre-existing characters. But I don't think they all have their own comics dedicated to them. They must have been featured in different ways. Like, a multi-verse Spider-man comic series can feature so many of them in one series. They don't have to have separate ones. Only the most prominent versions have their own- Miles, 2099, Gwen, Scarlet, etc.

Loved the reaction guys, I’ve been sick recently and your reactions make me feel a lot better. Also glad you like Hobie too. Speaking of Hobie, there is a whole lot of foreshadowing lines and snippets in both this and Into the Spider-Verse. Here are a few that I was able to find.
    1. In Into the Spider-Verse, while Miles and Aaron are spray-painting, the 42 spider glitches. It also glitches when Miles finds it before knowing about the collider. This was foreshadowing that the spider wasn’t from Miles universe and almost everybody glossed over it until now.
    2. Another thing from the first movie is that when the Peter of Miles universe saves him from falling and discovers that he’s also a Spider-Man. The colors for when Mile’s spidey-sense goes off change from purple and green to red and blue. This signifies that the Miles from Earth-1610’s fate of becoming the next Prowler would change to become the next Spider-man. It’s CRAZY how they were foreshadowing future events even in the first movie.
    3. During Spot’s backstory, when the 42 spider transfers from it’s universe to Miles universe, you could actually see Earth-42 Miles in the background. This is another way to show that Earth-42 Miles and Earth-1610 Miles fates were swapped, the spider was about to bite 42 Miles but was transferred into another universe.
    4. Before Miles and Miguel meet, Hobie begins taking mechanical equipment from the base. Now you would think he was only doing this for fun or out of boredom, but he was actually taking those parts to make Gwen’s new watch after she gets kicked out. He was also trying to get Miles from going with the other Spiders back to the base. He KNEW how things would play out. Hobie is the GOAT.

And I’m pretty sure the real reason why they released 2 or 3 versions of the same movie into theatres was because the movie was actually not finished yet and Sony, wanting to rush the movie out for money sake, released the movie before it was fully completed. Hence why some of the scenes have different animations or removed/ added audio tracks.

Little overlooked plot detail: Miguel is right, imprisoning Miles was the best solution.
Spot is only in Miles' world because he feels powerful enough to face him, he wants Miles. If Miguel did imprison Miles, Spot would've gone to HQ to fight him there and the canon event couldn't happen. Miles escaping is an unfortunate self-fulfilling prophecy.

Spots goal is to take everything away from Miles, he would’ve still killed his family before going to find Miles

    • @nr6916
      @nr6916 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think either way, spot would’ve destroyed the city just trying to find miles. And we already see him destroying a lot of stuff just after coming to the dimension and showing off his powers

    2 things.
    A. Upon rewatching its crazy how much Hobie is trying to help Miles. He is legit looking out for him more than Gwen and Peter B.
    B. I think in the next sequel we are gonna learn that spider 42 was ALWAYS going to bite Miles Morales. It just bit a different one.

    • @battousaix4263
      @battousaix4263 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Regarding B, I think it already shows that in this movie. When spot is explaining his origin story, the spider gets teleported into another dimension while it was in a classroom with a kid with braids in the foreground: Miles Morales

One of the things that I see reactors ask is “Gwen HAS to sense him, even when invisible, right?”
Correct me if I’m wrong, but he’s not JUST invisible, it completely erases his presence, even from other SpiderSenses, right?

Fun Fact. Miles only exists BECAUSE of Donald Glover.
There was a big push online for him to play peter parker and to just have spiderman black. so in an episode of community (which if you haven't already you need to watch) he wears a spider-man suit.
THAT SCENE is what inspired the creator of miles to MAKE miles. Because he liked the idea of a black spider-man so much.

Sad detail for yall: Miles has an obvious in interest and talent in art, yet he chooses physics in college in hopes that maybe one day he can do something to see his friends throughout the multiverse............. When they could contact him the entire time.......

I haven’t seen too many people notice this, but what Miguel did in his backstory was literally a mirror of what Kingpin was trying to do in the first movie. Rather than pulling a family from another universe, inserting himself in version of his family.

I always appreciate those who willing to wait for like... i dont know, 2 months, after the theatherical (I can't spell) release, just to make a reaction, and let us watch them reacting to the movie~ I called that commitment, and cool~
Cause like, I don't go to the movie cinema/theater often, but this is one those movies that I have to watch, and it was worth it to pay for~
Again, really grateful that you guys make a reaction for this~ keep up the good work! :D

The MCU has actually been very inconsistent... technically, the main comics canon is 616 and the film universe is 199999. That's the "Dr strange and the nerd..." line in the opening. But some MCU media calls it 616, some doesn't, it's very touch and go.
Edit: The original release had some pretty significant edits... during the collapse in Mumbhattan, after Miles is crushed, Gwen runs to him saying no over and over. There was a lot of emotion in that moment that got lost in the "official" release. The other big scene came during 2099's backstory. Instead of finding a version where he was happy and had a family, he found a version of him that had a family "again". Implying that Miguel lost his family in his OG timeline, found another, and then lost a second daughter/wife. Way more intense, emotionally made him more broken and put him much closer to the line, willing to protect the canon at all costs.
Edit 2: From the film, official spidermen are:
    Spider Man/Miles Morales
    (Reality-Humbling) Spider Man/Peter Parker
Ghost Spider/Spider Gwen / Gwen Stacy
    Spider Man 2099/Miguel O'Hara
    Spider Woman/Jessica Drew
    SP//dr / Peni Parker
    Spider Man India/Pavitr Prabhakar
    Spider Punk/Hobie Brown
    Spider Byte/Margo Kess
Spider UK Malala Windsor (Zarina Zahari in the comics)
    Web Slinger Patrick O'Hara
    Spider Man Noir/Peter Parker
    Spider Ham/Peter Porker
Mayday Parker (both baby and a grown version, in the background)
    Spider Mobile Peter Parkedcar
Scarlet Spider Ben O'Reilly (a clone of Peter Parker)
Tarantula (a clone of Peter Parker)
Spidercide (a clone of Peter Perker)
    Lego Spider Man/Peter Parker
    Last Stand Spider Man/Peter Parker
    Insomniac Spider Man/Peter Parker
Sun Spider/Charlotte Weber (disabled Spider Woman)
Spectacular Spider Man (2008 Animated Series)
Spider Man/Peter Parker (1967 Animated Series)
Spider Man Unlimited/Peter Parker (1994 Animated Series)
Spider Man/Tobey Maguire (2000 Film Series)
Amazing Spider Man/Andrew Garfield (2014 Film Series)
Homeward Spider Man/Spider Man Tom Holland (MCU Continuity, 2017 Film Series)
    Spider Rex/Pter Ptarker
    Unnamed Background Characters:
    Spinerette/Mary Jane Watson
    Spiderling/Anna May Parker
    Lady Spider/Maybelle Reilly
    Captain Spider/Flash Thompson
Spider Woman/Julia Carpenter (next to Samurai Spider Man)
    Spider Man/Kaine Parker
    Spider Therapist/Ezekial Sims
    Spider Plushie (Chibi Spider Man)
    Amazing Spider Monkey/Peter Parker
    Spider Cat
    Spider Wolf
    Cyborg Spider Woman/Petra Parker
Bombastic Bagman/Peter Parker (broke in the Fantastic 4's labs and lost his mask)
Spider Man/Max Borne (do I have web on my face)
Spider Girl/Anya Corazon (nanotech, beefed spiderwoman, same scene)
Future Foundation Spider Man (white costume)
Doppelganger (basically a Carnage Spider Man without the Symbiote)
Superior Spider Man/Peter Parker (but mind swapped with Doc Ock)
    Prince of Arachne/Peter Parker
And various new creations/suit references, including Spider-Metro (Metro Bommin), Spider-Canada, Spider Knight, etc. Only one missing is the "Wednesday my Dudes~" Spider Man, fingers crossed for the next film

Something I wanna draw attention to is Miguel's whole philosophy that "canon events" have to occur to protect the timelines. He took the place of a deceased version of himself from another timeline and altered the timeline. That's what makes him believe that an entire universe was destroyed because of his actions. The Spider people that fall in line with Miguel just see what happened to him and conform because they're afraid of it happening to their own universes. Miles however sees through the bullshit. He's not willing to just let people die when he knows that he can save them. There's no guarantee that his universe will collapse if he saves his father. Not just that, but Miguel is just flat out wrong about Miles. He tells Miles that he was the first anomaly but that's not true. _Miguel_ was the first anomaly. He was the first one to exploit interdimensional travel to have the life he couldn't have in his own timeline. Something about the comics when it comes to Miguel is that his mother criticizes him and tells him that all he does is destroy, and it's true. In his attempt to save the multiverse, all he does is destroy. He wears the most aggressive costume (talons and sharp protruding weapons, not to mention his teeth), he's the only Spider-Man that isn't funny, and anytime he says anything about anyone else, he's tearing them down. Constantly insulting those around him. His intentions are moral, he just doesn't want to see entire universes die, but he's going about it in the wrong way.

Back to the Future did it! The first movie had the same sort of "the adventure is over, but there's always room for more!" vibe at the end with Doc whisking Marty and Jennifer off to the future (much like Gwen appearing at the end of ITSV through the portal), then the second movie ended with a genuine cliffhanger (Doc getting zapped to the past and Marty having to figure out a way through it, vs. Miles ending up in the wrong timeline and Gwen setting up a new team to help).

Gotta say, I loved watching this in theatres so much I saw it twice with two different groups of friends and the second time I styled my hair like Prowler Miles, but I must say I am a bit jealous because there are countless moments in this movie we were all wishing we could freeze frame and rewind. There's SO much in this movie and it's incredible
Btw making Miguel a law good villain and Spot, the decades long butt of the joke, genuinely terrifying?? Holy crap. I thought he was just going to be comic relief when he popped up but no....

    • @ILikeCHEEZ9

@imlazy_lol Na he's totally the villain, there are several times where the question comes up if he's doing the right thing, he's demonstrated that murder is not beneath him as he stopped right before sinking his fangs into someone, he tried to erase miles, and "We are the good guys.....we are". With everyone looking at him seeing how over the edge he's gone. If you have to say anything aloud you're trying to convince yourself, if you have to say it twice, you didn't believe yourself the first time you said it. Die a hero or live long enough to become the villain, and he's been corrupted based on his own folly.
