Really enjoyed this tutorial Keith, so informative and easy to follow, Thank You. I love your flight videos AND I love these tutorials as well. Let's have more please 😃 THANK YOU
Gettin' back into it.. Decided to buy a walksnail v2. Looking around and here's my old buddy the bonafidepirate! Nice! Also got a Prusa now, too - thanks for the files! Great minds think alike!
I like your setup. I FPV helicopters exclusively in my channel, and I also use a ground station. I am trying to switch to using a gaming monitor with low latency. I currently use box goggles but I am afraid no good goggles will be less than 100 USD from now onward after the digital FPV video revolution. Gaming monitors are the only options to stay below 100 USD for every single purchase sale of this hobby.
Was thinking about going to walksnail but going to hold off for now until they do something about the storage size. If you can only get 18'ish minutes then you still need an HD camera if you want HD footage for the whole flight. Don't want just the last 18 minutes of a 40+ minute flight.
I just got my Walksnail system three days ago. I have not flown behind it yet because the OSD items are not where I want them. I am not able to move the OSD items to the outer edges of the screen. I must be missing something in the setup. Do you have any suggestions? Keep up the good work.😎 Feb 4 07:44 Never mind, I figured it out. 😊 On the OSD tab in Mission Planner I found that selecting the OSD item you want to move, manually entering the X and Y values, even if it moves it off the GUI screen, you can get the desired results.
Great info Keith, thank you. I used to use Vegas but haven't done any video editing for a while. Your videos always look so good - what do you use for output format and settings when you render?
I cannot get the custom fonts working properly with inav 6.0 RC even though it is working with the last WS firmware and the default font. I am getting quite a lot of messed up characters, though the I will probably have to wait a bit for 6.0 to be officially out.
There's a known issue with Walksnail and custom fonts for inav right now. You should be able to use them with the overlay tool after a flight, but they won't work loading them into the goggles/receiver to use "live" yet. It's something to do with how they reference characters on a multipage font layout like inav uses. It's something Caddx/Walksnail will have to fix in a firmware update at some point. Ardupilot works since it uses a single page of characters.
Can you have the overlay up with out recording? I fly an RC Helicopter and I would like data presented real-time through my goggles. I have the OSD tool, is there a file that I am suppose to copy over to my walksnail goggles? Edit...I watched your video a few times. I think I got it.
could someone please tell me how to setup the walksnail osd ? it has still the formfactor of the small 4:3 screen...and if i try to put the items above 29 it says out of range ?! i already have the nexus font on it but need the osd to fill the hole screen...heeelp :)
Thanks for the video editing overview. I picked up some useful tips and information...The OSD tool is great, we'd be in a fix without it IMO...Recording onsite using a Laptop isn't very practical for most users....I paid my coffee dues!!! 🤔🤔😳😏😏🇬🇧
Depends on the plane, but pretty much everything I'm flying right now is either Dragonlink or Crossfire. I just have the radio inside with me, but the little shed I fly from sits out next to the runway in the open, with no metal in the walls to block RF signals so it works. I do have a relay that I set up to try with one of my Dragonlink systems but I didn't see any real benefit to be honest.
In the Walksnail goggles/VRX settings, there's an option for OSD Position, I think it's under display but I could be wrong. It's in there though... lol Move that to the top left corner, then within Ardupilot in the settings for "Onboard OSD", change OSD_Text_Res for each screen you're using to 1, default is 0. Then you can use the X and Y coordinates to move each OSD item around on the full 16:9 screen. You can't just drag them around on the OSD preview like normal, the preview only shows the normal low resolution 4:3 OSD. The coordinates work for now until they update the preview screen for the high res option.
Not that I'm aware of. I heard there was a working test firmware that fixed that issue, but haven't seen it myself. I did get to test one from them that fixes the corrupt video recordings onboard, so I know that's a thing. I was hoping we'd see a new firmware by now that included both fixes, but haven't seen it yet.
Thanks for the video, It is helpful and I can confirm the frame skipping you pointed out @14.44. Unfortunately, I am having OSD freezing up issue and video locking up. I have done the pwr and std hack without any improvement. Here is my 1st experience with the system, appreciate any feedback. th-cam.com/video/wN1UZ1eKPPw/w-d-xo.html
I for one like the tech/how-to content about as much as the flying. Thanks for the great info.
I really appreciate your video on this topic. Everything we need to know!
Awesome video, Keith. Very well detailed. Thanks
Finally got my T1 ranger converted to a VTOL, did a test hover today worked out pretty well

You can also check for the OSD location option in the walksnail display menu configuration. By default it was very messed up on mine.

This was just awesome. Thank you!
I felt like only sphere looked different. Thought blinker & contract looked the same
Hey Keith, do you have a repository where you would be willing to send your OSD screen layouts? Cheers

Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
How do you get your transmitter-Signal out of your house?
YAY new vidjia

I just hope I don't get the sdcard error I get on dji goggles. Tried bunch of sdcards. Some do it less but every so often sdcard error.

🤔🤔😳😏😏🇬🇧
You can also record on your phone
@@iRoNiiC_H3R0Great, I hadn't considered that option...🤔😏😀🇬🇧
If you mind, what are you using for your control link? Do you have an antenna outside, by the VRX?

How do you get your osd to go all the way across the screen? Mine is bunched up in the middle..

32GB, you asked it, you have it!
Have they fixed the inav osd issue yet? I tried it with 33.39.10 and it didn't appear so.
