FT seems to give off a more serious vibe whilst M39s seems more light-hearted. It's quite interesting how shaders can change the vibe of one thing so much.
Inherently yes, as the toon shader seems like a last minute decision. I feel underneath the toon shader the module looks similar to the future tone module and that they just put a toon shader on to idk get more people to buy? So it has like its own Identity and so it’s not just ft on switch? Idk. But the toon shader really disappoints me. It’s just flat colors. If there was some shading and such, i wouldn’t mind as much
I prefer the toon shader here. In certain parts, FT looks kinda creepy (1:41, 1:49, 1:51, 2:01, 2:03). Also the lighting here makes FT look like porcelain dolls, and as a person who has a fear or porcelain dolls (not really, its just really uncanny) i dont like it. Although, Megamix could really use some more melanin. In conclusion, F, F2nd and X looked the best.
The parts where you pointed out FT being kinda creepy are all in the same section since that was probably Sega's intention considering the slight tonal shift of the song in that section plus the lyrics ("A fluorescent light repeatedly switching on and off. The Paranormal confusion quietly ate into you" are the first phrases of the second verse. Kind of creepy huh?) so it just proves the point that FT better conveys the intention of the video in the first place. Why else would Miku be slowly walking through a dark sci fi corridor? Because it's supposed to be slightly unnerving but MegaMix doesn't convey that as well clearly.
AKI there’s a distinct lack of shading and lighting. its more noticeable to tell it exists on darker PVs like Ghost Rule or Romeo & Cinderella. also too many people make the joke of “haha nose gone!! toon shader bad!!!”

Honestly the only reason for me to buy MegaMix is if I wanted to play Future Tone on a portable device or if I didn't have a PS4.
that’s the reason i got mega mix 😔 i don’t have a ps4 so i thought it was ok for me to get it on the switch which i did 😭

@@stardust_7827 actually I prefer the mega mix’s ghost rule. You are able to get a better look at the environment.
the only difference is that one uses the Toon shader
