    Quick recommendation for your mealworms; I have a huge mealworm farm that's been running for over 2 years; the best food source that I've been feeding them is meat. Although I also provide veggies and fruit, the little bits of ham I throw in helps to fatten them up and increase their protien value.

      I tried dubias recently, all seemed well. Then, after feeding, I would itch like crazy. Found out that their droppings are incredibly allergenic. Not everyone has the same reaction, but still, I recommend using gloves. If you feed many animals, you might even want to use a paint mask to avoid breathing in any roach debris dust. Sounds crazy. For some reason, as much as I detest crickets, I do not itch with them. I advise you to research the topic yourself and decide what you want to do. If just feeding dubias occasionally, probably not an issue.

    With the ammount of animals I have I need to buy crickets in thousands, every single time i tried to "unbox" them inside I would loose atleast 10 and complain about it to my friends for the next week.
    Now they are very annoyed every time I speak about the crickets, so.. I put a single cricket in each of there houses as a joke (they were in small screen boxes I made so they wouldn't go everywhere) ((I wouldn't want to loose my friends))
    Now, if they annoy me I put a cricket in there house, and it chirps all night. Now they feel my pain 😅
    If you got this far, thanks for reading. Also they are all in the hobby yet only with cresties, and snakes so they dont have crickets. (So they are chill with the cricket thing) (it's now a inside joke between us all and everyone thinks we are weird)
    Thanks for reading😅

    Whenever I get crickets I order 1000 at a time (I’m feeding lots of lizards and frogs) and they are shipped loose in the box. The first time that I had them shipped I had no clue they were loose in the box and opened them on my kitchen counter. I had about 200 Crickets jumping around my house after I opened it. I still always get the few escapees every time I open it.

    I just got this cricket pen today by exo terra that has these tubes the crickets climb into for easier feeding. I always had the issue of one or two crickets trying to evade their demise by hopping out. Looks like I'm not alone. Chubs isn't much of a fan of meal worms..just strictly crickets and wax worms.

    I raise n breed my own feeder crickets. But I ordered from Joshs Frogs one time this year and let me tell you. I seen good reviews about them so I ordered wax worms. They came over a week late, box crushed, hot and worms were black, hard and dead. They werent even turning into moths. Just dead. Atleast they did send me a new order faster after I sent numerous pics and emails complaining. The next order died within days. So I wont be dealing with them again. I only tried them because I wanted my dragons to have a diff meal. It sucks that these delivery companies dont care about a sellers product or when the seller doesnt care about the product. Thats why I raise my own crickets. I put up some vids on how I do it. Thank you for sharing this. I love learning new ways.

      The vivariums were only like £30-£50 which is pretty good, but I've heard they're difficult to find in North America.

    I looked through quite a few of your mealworm videos, but still can't figure out what is that bedding you use, that is dark color with pebbles or wood chips of various sizes. What is in it, and do you still give them some grain or just vegetables?

    Hey, I have a question about my leopard gecko, my gecko is a 3.5 years old female that was used for mating, I got her when she was 2. The last time I handled her she was doing her defensive tail swinging when I put her on the floor (I was laying next to her belly on the ground) she never did this when I handled her before and put her on the ground (I did manage to put her safely back into her terrarium as soon as she started doing that)I wonder why she did it? Is it like breeding time or haven't I handled her enough?

    quick question.
    is it normal for a leopard gecko to stare at a meal worm for about 10 minuets and not even try to catch the worm? I keep trying to get a different worm out of the box but she wont eat them.

    I seen how my pet shop had a Leo on sand so I had a nice chat to the owner about how its bad, impaction etc. And they replied with the substrate is a pure CaCO3 that's coloured to look like sand and I was wondering well this is still sand in a way what's your opinion on this matter?

      keelan James Sorry but that owner is full of crap. Sand is sand and will cause impaction. I hope the op replies to you!!

    What temperature should I keep crickets and mealworms ?

    • @sloanr3785
      @sloanr3785 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      From my experience, it’s best to keep mealworms refrigerated to make them last longer. If you want to make crickets dormant you can put them in the fridge also, but there’s no specific temperature for either bug that I know of.

    • @leopardgeckotalk
      @leopardgeckotalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I keep them at room temp, but they do pupate quicker. However if you do keep them in the fridge, warm them up in your hand before dusting them and feeding them to your gecko :)

      M U you feed them some tipe of lettuce or fruits after taking them of the fridge and before feeding them for your gecko ??

      Maybe superworms?

    • @leopardgeckotalk
      @leopardgeckotalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      nope wax worms and morio worms/super worms should only be fed as treats.
      Honestly I just offer a variety, so crickets, mealworms, calci worms, the odd morio worms or wax worm :)

    What do you use for meal worm beding?

    • @leopardgeckotalk
      @leopardgeckotalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I started using a bit of earthmix arid (definitely not the cheapest thing), but I had a little left over. However I know some people use 'bug grub', the flakes, or oats. I used to use oats but mould can occur if food starts to go off and makes the oats moist.
