  • Tire replacement the way I learned from Goped.
    While getting the tire slightly on the rim, I was assisting the rubber tire by pushing up on the inside. Up and over.

    I use an arbor press with the new tire on bottom and old one with rim an tire on top pull down on handle and done. Harbor freight 30 bucks worth it 👌

    These goped sport tires are super miserable to change especially if using a billet wheel. With a billet wheel the rim is so slick that the tire keeps jumping off when you try to get it started on the first side. I found that for billet wheels to put like 3-5 zip ties through the spokes and around the tire so when the wheel gets on the 1 side you can lock the zip ties down so the tire will stay while you push the tire the rest of the way on. I used a hydraulic press and it made life so much easier but a bench top vice and some blocks of wood works good to but you MUST get it started on the one side first or you will crack/break the rim or rip a chunk out of the tire.

      Interesting. Yes, super miserable. Yeah I don't have any kind of hydraulic press and I'm sure most people don't. I did the same thing with an aluminum rim, it came out fine. It did try to pop through so I know exactly what you are talking about. I successfully removed a good tire on a bad rim to reinstall it on a good rim. Don't ever waste time doing that. That is even more miserable. Haha! Hopefully my video and your information will helps tons of people. Thanks for the comment!!

    I'm surprised they say stamp on it.. I'm seeing why I wouldn't. The reason you s because when you stamp on it, even though it's solid, its uneven and actually bends the rubber in a way it's not supposed to..I'm probably wrong..lol. I get why ya bounce it.. snugging it...make more vids... some of us are just getting started....lol

      Good thing, goped are generally pretty easy to work on. I'll see what else I can do. I have a total rebuild coming on a sport, will be a new engine because unfortunately I used all my engines up.

    Where did you buy that wheel and tire? On the GoPed website it says that the tire and wheel assembly are 6 inches when it was actually 7. My buddy learned the hard way and bought it and we had to modify his tire a bit. I am in need of some new 6 inch tires and wheels for my go ped. Thank you

      Wheel wheel is an original as far as I know. The tire came from Dave's Discount Motors. But honestly didn't know there were two different sizes. Everyone I've ever bought are all the same.

    • @bdrgarage7039
      @bdrgarage7039  ปีที่แล้ว

      People have commented that they use a press, I use the kick method.
      The hardest part is to get it started, you need to get at quarter of an inch of the tire onto the lip all the way around and then you can stomp on the tire, I usually put the old tire underneath the rim as I'm pounding down on the new tire to not mess up the rim.

    • @bdrgarage7039
      @bdrgarage7039  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I have one that I need to do again Maybe I will do a short video of just getting it on the lip. It's not easy and it takes a lot of thumb work

      Funny you say that. I had a sprained ankle the last time I did this. Used my mallet. It works once that first edge is on but took longer. But an option nonetheless. Thanks

  • @jskavaloski

    Ummm....you totally got it on, but crushed the bearing seal on the side laying on the pavement while you jumped on it.... and a little soapy water would make this half the battle.

    • @bdrgarage7039
      @bdrgarage7039  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The bearing was mint after. I checked it over very well, and this was a recommendation from GoPed. If you've never tried to install one of these tires , it is a pain in the butt. If you try a vice you're going to tear something up or anything else. There is no easy way to do it. Like I said this was from GoPed. That is how they install them. Exactly that way right on the floor. I guess you could put some boards under the tire for the wheel to fall through. Maybe next time

    How long does the tire last for ?

    • @bdrgarage7039
      @bdrgarage7039  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, not sure. I have never owned one long enough. But after every hour or two of riding you need to readjust height of the wheel. I think I have a video on it but if not I can make one.
      I have had one with over 250 miles, which is a lot on one of these, still had lots of life.
