      I used to have one like 14 years ago. I am going to buy the new sport SE or the super gsr later this year for some fun on my downtime haha. They are pretty fun to own if you haven't had one. You just need to run the correct oil to fuel ratio and you are set.

    Update: Q and A: (a good year later)
    Should you get one? Well that depends. I no longer own the go-ped you see in the video. Why? because it tried to kill me. For reasons that I'm still not aware of, the engine red lined during a ride. I took me falling, and a good 30 seconds to shut it off.
    Looking back at the Go-Ped, and my experiences with it I can't bring myself to recommend one without warning you (the reader) of the risks. These things are fu@ing mad. Tiny wheels, unstable (sometimes unpredictable) handling characteristics, and, a good chance of death.
    In almost every aspect, a motorcycle (or moped) is safer. I know, Ive tried both.
    They are fun though.. And cheap.
    But seriously, helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards. (Do not cheap out on the helmet)
    umm, also, in the off chance you live in one of the states that has police... they usually don't like these.
    My final recommendation? Get a moped. Larger wheels, a clutch, dual breaks, shocks. (plus they're legal)
    Thanks for your comments!

      I don't. In NYC.

    • @tjtheguy4682

      +Randy Ting If you're not the kind of person who likes to repair and tinker, DO NOT buy a goped.
      If you're still looking for a small fun, easy vehicle, and you have a little bit of money to spend, I HIGHLY recommend a golden eagle bike kit. They're reliable, easy to install, and quiet. Then again so is a regular bike.
      sad truth is, in NYC, anything with a gas engine that's not registered or insured like a car, will get you in trouble.
      Goped's are police magnets, especially in larger cites. Keep this in mind.
      electric bike kits are a good choice, and because they're discreet ( no noise ), the police should have no problem with you riding one. A good one should run you ( with batteries ) around $800. However, you can find em cheap on Craigslist. Though honestly, to me, electric bikes seem to me finicky, and the batteries do, with use expire, then you're stuck spending $300 replacing them.
      Are you old enough drive? If so, and you're looking for dirt cheap, fun, small transport, get a scooter or moped.
      Insurance on one of these bad boys: as low as $30 a year.
      And, better yet, in many states all you need is a learners permit or standard license to operate one.
      The best part, it's 100% legal.

    • @Kvele
      @Kvele 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Randy Ting Not always. If you buy it new and break it in right you shouldn't have to maintain it other than normal things like air filter, new tires, cleaning the carb, adjusting the pressure of the spindle on the tire, and maybe tightening loose bolts etc...

    Always go for a goped gsr as you can’t use spindle drives in the wet.!!!!!! Or if u have a spindle driven ped get a clutch system

    Dude go on davesdiscountmotors.com & buy a clutch kit with the correct spindle for it then it will keep ticking over when you come to a stop 👍 & also upgrade your motor to a 29cc

    ha ha yea goped stoppies are a no go. I bought one several years ago that was tricked out and to be fair the ad said "NOT FOR KIDS" lmfao I wasn't a kid but its got way too high a top speed, I have been meaning to replace the spindle to get it down to a more manageable speed. If I had one of the models with the clutch and pneumatic tires I wouldn't mind the speed but running about 30 or so on a sport is sketchier 'n frig.

    i own one of these. it would be a great commuter but cops would pull you over about every 100 yards. the truth, the mother fucking truth, is that these are "illegal" to commute on.

    • @fangming1000
      @fangming1000 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is so confused, some people say it is illegal, some people say it is legal. I live in the state of California, is it legal to ride ?
