It's so bizarre to me that F&H ended up becoming so popular lmao, i was convinced it was gonna stay an underground gem but i'm happy it boomed, Miro deserves the bag, he's a genius.
It's a great combination. It is the type of reaction pulling hype to draw crowds. But afterwards it carries the type of lore to keep fanatics loving it for years.
And as a bonus if you are like "can the game come without as much "hate you" mess and more polish" then they can go play the sequel.
It's the center of a venn diagram for a game that needed to pop off.
I first discovered F&H through an "All boss fights" video for F&H 2, then I just descended to the depths after that...
This games becomes popular during the covid pandemic, maybe was a coping mechanism like "the real world is very dark right now and this game reflects my reality".

Was also so surprised in the boom of popularity! I remember searching across TH-cam for more lore videos well over a year ago and got maybe 2 or 3 decent ones. Nothing for Fear & Hunger 2 Termina. Now theres tons of analysis videos of both F&H1 and F&H2 and I absolutely love it. Great bedtime stories lol.
Enki is hilarious because he's not just going for knowledge, he basically says in his intro that there's only room for one bad bitch in town and it's not gonna be Le'garde

Connor still a rookie, the coin flip attack can be blocked with guard option, most people forget that
Yeah guards are practically a non-issue once you know you can can guard the arm that does the coin flip and just keep it until the enemy dies effectively making him unable to tackle haha

Plus the fact that the lucky coin item's description does tell you that you can hold shift to use one to help your odds during a coin flip. It can be easy to miss if you don't read it of course but the game does provide the information.
Tbf finding that piece of knowledge requires analysing an obscure piece of dialogue...or playing termina first ig.

Fear and Hunger is a "games as art" situation, it's one of those things where in good conscience you can't really recommend it as a "game" to other people, especially if you like that person, if you prep them and let them know that it's not focused on being a game so much as presenting a kind of experience
The second one is very balances though and very gold idk if my expectatives are too low after playing the first one tho
That doesn't really make sense applied to funger. It's a turn based rpg with immersive Sim mechanics, it's pretty video gamey. The whole experience perspective is the kind of thing you say about the last of us or typically very cinematic games
Also, all games are art, you don't really pick and choose which ones you think are neat. Just some have more creativity and artistic merit... aka not call of duty
It makes me really happy connor is very enthusiastic to bring and introduce fear and hunger to other people and friends.

If you read the Lucky Coin's description, it literally says that you can hold shift to use it during Coin Flips. There's also an NPC called Ser Seymor that gives you some pretty useful tips like that you should guard if you feel like a dangerous attack is coming (Guarding blocks the enemies' Coin Flip attacks).
It's always entertaining to see people play Fear & Hunger when they don't know what the hell is going on haha

When you get an empty scroll, to advance to the next verse use the enter bar. DO NOT USE THE Z BUTTON, or else you will get something like:

WHITE ANGELZ, wasting your scroll. Also if you want to learn a skill in the second verse use TEACH, and if you want a certain item use GIVE. So yeah be careful with that!

Dude the lore, world, and gods are so interesting and yeah after the second game. With peoples input and comments I’m sure that helped flesh it out better. It’s still amazing. And I can’t wait to find out more about this world.

@diavolojaegar Yeah true, the dungeons and monsters honestly fit Funger, but the amount of people (more dangerous than the monsters sometimes) in it (not to mention the existing cities outside of it) makes it less empty and oppressive.

@@grianjuju9438 absolutly not. guard arms have 300 hp, with most weapons early you cant 1 shot a guards arm ALONE, ragnavalder with axe start can go murder every guard for loot wtihout being scared

@@light3396 Guard arms only have 20 hp; 250 on Terror and Starvation. There's also the always relevant option to just NOT fight them.
What I love about this game and why I think it’s so great is that it forces you to go against everything you know about how to play a game because the answer to a problem in the game that you would normally think is right is typically the wrong answer. It’s a pretty cool and unconventional way to do a turn based RPG.
Though, this game is DEFINITELY not for everyone because it’s very unforgiving and will never hold your hand or baby you. Plus, the RNG can be infuriating.
Would you consider it to be more along the lines of ''Okay, what would I do in REAL LIFE to get past this puzzle'' or perhaps ''Okay, so what is the weirdest possible thing I can do that might solve the puzzle'' ?
@@anusaukko6792 it’s a little of both tbh. Some stuff is not obvious, but when you do it, it makes so much sense. Like, you can put a bear trap on the ground and it will hurt an enemy when you battle it. And, some stuff is just off the wall like you can fuse people together lol.
The key for the coin flip for me is to stick to a side and run it for the entire game.
Head or Tails, doesn't matter, just stick to it.
Even if you get like 10 bad flips in a row, you must never deviate.

Fun fact, despite the game being RNG Hell, it's entirely beatable without ever winning a single coin flip. Frapollo94 has the patience of a saint for the things he manages in his challenge runs.

Sincerely even if I did saw the video of Conor in Fear and Hunger how to use empty scroll and using shift for coin flip are a the easiest to guess in my opinion.
For the empty scroll, you can found various book on a support that will litteraly said something like "how to use empty scroll, O LORD TEACH HURTING" (Sure Guessing you can used for any spell is harder since you need to unlock the altar that allow you to learn spell for lesser soul to learn they name ).
For the coin flip, well it was more an accident but if you try to change your bind you can wich is weird and need to be spawn to learn the used.
First time I played Fear & Hunger, I died by searching boxs for too long and dogs attacked me in courtyard

Trash Taste finally got on that FUNGER grindset and it's a joy to hear.
Also important to note that Ragna has the hardest S-Tier finish condition, requiring you to defeat every boss in the game.

Fear and Hunger is one of the very few game series that truely rewards "knowledge equals power" by encouraging playing around rules to give you the highest odds of success. The first 5 hours tell the player on a storytelling level just what type of place The Dungeon of Fear&Hunger is. The "Fun-ger" in Fear and Hunger comes from creating a strategy to get you as far as possible and strategiclly taking out dangers to make your journey down more supportable. A dark fantasy masterpiece all about increasing your odds of success, in the most depraved and desperate ways possible.

The gear Rag starts with appears basic, though depending on how you play him can be very awesome. However, I feel the average Joe may not play him to his fullest

You don't have to play the 1st one to play the 2nd. You'll miss out on lore stuff and reference but otherwise both games are their own contained story. The 1st one is more dungeon exploration rogue like and shorter compared to the 2nd game which is longer, contains more events and is more character driven. I recommend both to be honest.

Devour straight up removes the hunger mechanic from him from 90% if the game. The only better starting skill would be Dash imo. Legsweep Id rate the same as Devour, a bit higher if youre going for specific endings. Steal and lockpicking are handy, but Steal isnt safe to do until you have multiple party members and Lockpicking is basically just legsweep ( lol )

I love the idea of the game, but the coin flip mechanic that screwed Garnt over is the exact reason I cant deal with trying to finish this game
Coin flips are genuinely easy. Each time a coin flip is about to start during a fight, you get a prompt like, "you feel the guard tensing up" or something, allowing you to guard through it. In regards to items, by holding shift,vyou can use a lucky coin
