Flaws like those make for a more believeable and engaging character.

I’m gonna throw an objection here. Matt doesn’t side with the demons other wise he would love evil. He sides with the angles as a God fearing man because he believes in good. The suit is yes a way to scare criminals. But it goes deeper still. Catholic and Christian faith believes that man are capable of great good through God and also great evil. This is a juxtaposition that he wears a suit as the devil that even though a good man can do good they can also do evil. Matt has made many mistakes. This is conducive of the very fact that in his faith, apart from God this is in fact what people look like on the outside. But behind the mask, behind all the mistakes, behind the short comings he is in fact seen as good in the eyes of God because of Jesus. This to say it’s a play on the fact that we are all sinners. That doesn’t disqualify the fact that no matter how ugly we can be we can in fact do good and honor God. But ultimately we will all fall short. Jesus is the reason we have that grace…and we can get back up even after our shortcomings. Thus Matt doesn’t see himself worthy because without God none of us are and we look like and do evil. Rather poetic really.

What exactly is this "Catholic guilt"? I've heard this phrase before but never really followed up on trying to learn the meaning of this phrase. Plus, I'm not Catholic, so I can't relate to this phrase at all. If you know what I mean.

Wrong. Matt calls himself Daredevil because kids at his school bullied him for studying so much. It’s only common sense he designed his suit after his crime fighting alias. Jack “The Devil” Murdock was a retconned name that no one calls him. Most of (if not 100% of the time) his nickname is “Battlin Jack”. And also, all this “Catholic guilt” bullshit was not until Zdarsky’s run starting in 2019. There were elements of Catholicism and religion in both Frank Miller’s and Kevin Smith’s runs, but all of this Catholic guilt and Matt “not worthy” is all bullshit stirred up by Zdarsky and the Netflix show.
People rag on Catholic guilt but if you don't acknowledge the evil things you have done them they'll manifest back as depression.

I’m gonna throw an objection here. Matt doesn’t side with the demons other wise he would love evil. He sides with the angles as a God fearing man because he believes in good. The suit is yes a way to scare criminals. But it goes deeper still. Catholic and Christian faith believes that man are capable of great good through God and also great evil. This is a juxtaposition that he wears a suit as the devil that even though a good man can do good they can also do evil. Matt has made many mistakes. This is conducive of the very fact that in his faith, apart from God this is in fact what people look like on the outside. But behind the mask, behind all the mistakes, behind the short comings he is in fact seen as good in the eyes of God because of Jesus.
This to say it’s a play on the fact that we are all sinners. That doesn’t disqualify the fact that no matter how ugly we can be we can in fact do good and honor God. But ultimately we will all fall short. Jesus is the reason we have that grace…and we can get back up even after our shortcomings. Thus Matt doesn’t see himself worthy because without God none of us are and we look like and do evil. Rather poetic really.
