I was in a dependency bond for 10 years after experiencing no autonomy under my parents. I finally had the courage to escape despite my ex partner controlling every aspect of my life (money, transportation, etc.) and never being taught basic skills adults should know at my age also made it difficult. Despite all of the challenges, and struggle with homelessness, I've never been happier.
I appreciate that you gave advice for therapists in dealing with this with our clients, in addition to explaining it as if the audience is the client. I am a therapist so it is very useful to have that perspective
