Hi Tom. Interesting, I must have totally missed it. I thought I tore the entire vice down. I'll keep my eye out for it next time. That said, it's been working beautifully. Thanks!
I have an antique starlet around same size that seizes around halfway when closing im gonna try out some of the things you suggested or maybe simple green first like another commenter suggested i happen to have that on hand
Hi Nicky, that's a good question. When I did some initial research, the M2s were manufactured from the mid 70s to early 80's. Unfortunately, I was unable to find anything more specific than that.
Contrary to the caption, you didn't put the thrust washer in backwards. It was backwards when you took it out in disassembly, but correct-with the bearing side (pockety bronze side) facing the screw handle-when you put it back. The bronze bearing side of the thrust washer and the inner face of the handle hub, separated by a healthy layer of grease, make a great bearing. Good job though. I'm nearly done restoring a Colombian 503, a very similar vice.
Surprised you didn't remove the ACME nut for cleaning...why nit?

Nice job. Looks amazing
Thanks, it's been put to good use.
I like to soak mine in Simple Green over night. That usually does the trick.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give that a try next time. 👍
How do you remove those soft jaws?
Hello Lee, the soft jaws on the other vice are held on with magnets.
Do you know roughly what year it was manufactured a friend of mine has a 505-m2
