Born and raised in Jackson Heights/Elmhurst . Brings back memories but I no longer live in NY . Lots have changed there! Thanks for touring the neighborhood!
I moved to New York recently and chose to live in Queens not only because of the rich culture but because it reminds me so much of my hometown of Boston. It’s like a blend between the suburbs and the city.
This was so awesome. I was born at what was then called, Elmhurst General Hospital in 1958. I have lived in and around this area most of my life, up until 1997. This area was predominantly Jewish, Italian and Irish in the 60's. I have fond memories of it than, but find it more fascinating now. When this video was shot I had already been gone(Virginia) 20 years 8 months, so imagine how crazy it was to see the Pic-A-Shoe, McDonald's and VIM, in the same spot on Junction Blvd. As I post this, I'm going through some emotional stuff right now, but you have no idea how this walking tour of my childhood home has helped me. Thank you so very ,very much.
You’re welcome! Thanks for sharing all your memories 😃
I thought the camera was on your head or some such. I see from your shadow that you have a stick. That is partly why these videos are so good.
Well done it can't be easy.
Thanks
My favorite borough. Love NY, but Queens is by far the most diverse and liveable. Parts of it reminds me of Philly.
THANK YOU ,I AM WALKING WITH YOU I FEEL LIKE I AM BACK WALKING THE STREETS OF QUEENS WHEN I LIVE THERE IN THE 1992 I LOVE NY. CITY..
1:24:00 Corona AV. and Junction Blvd, I was told Corona AV. was an old Indian trail, the Indian village was where Corona Park is now, across from the Lemon Ice King. Originally Corona AV. was called Dutch Lane, Junction Blvd was called Junction AV. and went towards a threshing mill that was up near where LaGuardia airport is now, only 125 years ago Newtown was a farming village still very rural, only around 2,000 people lived in the entire village in 1890.
so many Indians , Pakistanis, Bangladeshis , Nepalese . Hats off to the Asian diversity there .
I used to live in that part of queens. The people there are awesome.
Its jackson heights

One of my fav youtube vids. Thanks bro, you reconnected me to my old neighborhoods. Makes me wanna go back to high school days. Excellent quality. BEST part about it is that you let the sound run realtime and keep with the feel of the city (instead of shitty music). Thanks again mate
Awesome! Glad I could bring back some memories.
Btw- just wondering, which part of the city do you reside in?
Elmhurst! Great place to find Indonesian food :)
Good walk mate,i am Australian and it gave me a great look around, sad to see so many shops closed down its very much the same here in Oz i think its a global thing,no jobs and no money, thanks again.....
Glad you enjoyed the video!
yes it is a global thing
Just wanted to see where Doug & Carrie lived (king of Queens!) I enjoyed the walk thanks! Greetings from Malta 😎
Great video mate. Keep them coming. Also Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you too!
I used to visit my sister in Long Island City before she moved to Brooklyn. I liked Queens myself
When the camera turns right, @29:13 , by the bus stop... That's where they would sell bootleg movies, on VHS... And right before Junction intersects with Roosevelt Ave, this Spanish guy would be yelling " Tempo ! Tempo ! El enemigo de las cucarachas ! " every weekend...
I soooo remember that. What a memory!!!
Thank you so much for making this video. I thoroughly enjoyed it on so many levels, each better than the others.
Super long story short i moved from nyc (whole life till 22) to oregon 5 years ago. DIdn't bother me at first but between covid and etc havent been able to go back as much as wanted. These videos make me feel so much better , I grew up around QCM (back before there were 3.5 of them lmao) thanks alot.
Que triste se ve esa avenida, y fría la temporada❄❄❄❄
I grew up in this area in the 60's & 70's. Roosevelt Ave & 79 st. Boy has it changed! Different cultures. Brought back so many memories. Thanks for sharing.
Allways great post!! Keep posting! Love them
Ok I love these videos. Its like Im walkin with you
Used to live at 92nd St and 35th Ave. so this brings back many memories of my old neighborhood. I felt like I was the one walking there. Thanks and keep up the great videos!
Mel O Thanks for watching! The neighborhood must have changed so much since you were last here.
Wow! Noticeably cleaner here. What is the difference? Yes, I'm going back to watch old videos because I only recently discovered how much fun it was to watch someone film a walk in NY.
I had a great aunt that used to live there it is such a lovely place to visit.
I'M FROM ROSEDALE QUEENS SALUTE TO ALL MY QUEENS PEOPLES TWO FINGERS PEACE
Oh WOW! Finally a video on an area I recognize. This was my stumping ground decades ago. In my early twenties. Haven’t been back there in soooooo long. Nothing has changed, apparently. But I’m sure things are different there now than when I lived there. Everything is different all over the USA. I mean. Is it just me, but I think there was warmth on earth back then, not the razor sharp coldness of people today. people were friendly back then, not edgy, eager to start a new day, knowing that prosperity awaited for them outside their living room. Chaos, shootings, lootings, and mayhem await for those of this generation. I’m so sorry about that.
… WoW … You’re ABSOLUTELY Right… Very Well Described 🤔
Yup, i saw a war veteran tearing up about this exact sentiment. So sad to see this country falling apart 🇺🇸
Thank you so much for your video you are walked 1 hours 53 minutes 11 seconds you feel tired

Newtown highschool REPRESENT!!!
I am so glad I came across this video! This is the neighbored I grew up in in elmhurst, in the 50's, moved to Ozone Park in 1958. You can see the tower of Newtown high School at 1:15, that i attended. I lived right down 92nd st. from Corona avenue. What a treasure to come across!!! I will be showing this to my children and grandchildren. At that time the area was mainly Irish, German, and Italian. What a great video for my children to have!!!
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for sharing your experiences!
Dude! You just waltzed passed my street! Awesome!
Can you please go again this streets, but in the other side🙏

Queens speaks Spanish as I understand)
Thanks for the tours, I'm seeing things that I never made time for when I was there!
actionkid, what day of the week was this video made? The streets are so quiet compared to Manhattan!
trappistpreserves Wednesday December 27, 2017. It was an extremely cold day too!
Wow, looks so quiet. I live in Maine so I know quiet (originally from a city in England) but what a contrast compared to manhattan. I should try the other side of the East River next time I go to New York. Thanks for these vids!
@@trappistpreserves this area is actually usually VERY crowded

Another good video!! Thank you!
You're welcome
Remek 👍👌
Great video, thanks. That gimbal though doesn't seem to be that good. I think Removu or Karma would be better
this was most informative - thinking of buying a CO-OP in the Historic District of Jackson Heights- everything seems so quiet - is it because it's so cold out? Thanks again . . . .
Gale Hysler Usually it's not nearly this quiet. When I filmed this the weather was extremely cold. In warmer weather you'll find many more people walking about.
Have you ever been mugged? Or had any trouble with people when they see you filming?
Yes, both. I’ve had my iPhone stolen in SoHo, Manhattan. People can be random sometimes. I get crude gestures, the “finger”, turning away from the camera, private security telling me I’m not allowed to film, and people playing “chicken” with me to name a few.
Que hay de la 102 roosvet café con leche
I like see roosevelt 90 st
100,000 subs 😍😍😍
I walking and drivers for allá Queens
I saw my house at 1:16:24 the one on top of the steel door the third floor
Cool!
Nothing much has changed in 60 years, all the buildings are the same.
1:18:16 I live a block away from there 🤣
Sweet!
Just like London.
Is it dangerous there?
Statistically speaking, NYC is pretty safe. (Just avoid the Bronx.) Just exercise common sense: don't walk around flaunting money or uber-fancy/expensive stuff, put your phone away when you're walking (or just don't look at it) and try to avoid being alone in a secluded spot, especially at night.
What is that a spirit walking with long long stick and a hooded cloak or am I seeing things
That's my shadow!
Great work. Thank you.
Awesome, glad you enjoyed.
7 Train in New York City is a Oriental Express Train.
Passengers in 7 Train are mostly Minority people like Chinese, Korean, Asian Indian and Hispanic people.
No entender nada
.Get a Dominican friend and you be fine
get me a Dominican girl, I'll be fine
Boring.
No voice? Are you kidding me?
That's the style of the video and many people seem to enjoy it. I want my viewers to enjoy the city for what it is.
I used to live there, at least it was clean then, looks like a pig sty, really a shame, it was once a nice place to live.
I will give you a hint at around 1:21:00 you are approaching a gas station on Corona AV. and 94th street, when I was a kid there was a hill behind that gas station, we would go up there once in awhile but they would chase us off because they said it was an Indian burial mound, after I came back from the Army they built a house on it. No respect for anything, really a shame.
I will be moving to woodside or elmhurst in a few months. Queens residents, do u think elmhurst is safe for a white guy lol. I never see any others when im there. This doesnt bother me but i dont want to stand out in an unsafe area.
Billy The_kid cool, welcome to Queens! I find it’s a pretty safe area.
actionkid105 thanks!
Billy The_kid it’s greatcthere!
It’s really unsafe. No one likes white people in these areas. Move downtown Manhattan.
@@inzskimz1792 heh what makes u think that because im white i can afford downtown manhattan.u thought queens was so awesome it was my first choice? Lol..also..are you sure that everybody there resents white people? Or is that just how YOU feel. Or, maybe youre white and this has been your experience. Please share more im interested to hear your input.
What a dreary part of nyc
