After sighting in at 60 feet, I could easily cover 5 shots with a nickel th-cam.com/users/postUgkxQt2uORDRfFOVSrO4idv4B90ThT6EOnEL ! Truly a pleasure to shoot! Scope was easy to adjust for eye relief. Only problem the varmints must have seen it delivered lol!Update: So impressed with shot groups at 30 yards I purchased a Hammers 3×9 with adjustable Objective scope! Now a true nail driver!

For real...I got a savage BA Stealth in 300win because I couldn't wait. Ended up missing the precision rifle and Hawkeye long range. The savage is a great gun for sure, but I'd trade in a heartbeat for that Hawkeye in 300

Hey guys, I just bought the Ruger PC 9 from Cabelas here in my area. I cleaned it and went to the range. At 50 yards the sights were right on so no adjustment needed. The gun fed 300 rounds of hardball and 50 rounds of self defence hollow points without any issues. I was using the SR9 mag that came with it, Great home and personal defence carbine. I have seen many youtube vids on this gun and I have noticed that those that complain about failures to feed or eject were using the long ass glock happy sticks and I thing due to the wobble of the long mag that it affects the performance of the shooting process. I have ordered a couple 17 round glock mags and we will see. I dont think the shorter mags will have the same issues.

Just picked one up at a local Big Box Store. Great little Carbine and extremely accurate. Put a Romeo 5x on there and it shoots like a dream. I personally like 9mm since it is cheap to shoot and most of my handguns are 9's. I like that you can use Glock Magazines since I have way more Glock Magazines laying around than Ruger Magazines. I just ordered a couple of Glock 33 rounders (USA Made not Korean) Lets see how they perform. Overall I am happy with this gun and the price is a steal.

I've never been a fan of Ruger pistols, to many safeties and they just felt weird in my hand, a pistol caliber carbine that take a manufacturers proprietary mags is ok I guess, but since Ruger was smart enough to engineer their carbine to take 9mm Glock mags of which I own several. I kind of want one now. I'll have to see if my local dealer has one in stock I can fondle. 😀

Amen. I have lots of Glock mags and several are the 33 rounders, which makes me even more interested in this little rifle. Although it really makes me miss my Marlin 9mm carbine. Just one of the many guns I kick myself for selling.

The original Police Carbines that Ruger made, the PC9 and PC4, were in production from 1996-2006. They weren't around in the 80s. You are likely thinking of the Marlin Camp Carbines which were around from 1984-1999.
The Camp carbine line was killed by the Clinton Assault Weapon Ban. Unfortunately the 9mm version came with a 12 round magazine as standard, which exceeded the 10-round cap. The only other options to use a 9mm Camp Carbine was to either buy Marlin's low-capacity 4-round magazine, or use a 10-round S&W 59 series magazine. The .45 ACP Camp Carbine just was never really that popular for some reason, even though it came with a factory standard 7-round magazine and could also take 1911 magazines.
The Ruger Police Carbines were specifically designed to be Clinton AWB-compliant with 10-round magazines for civilians and 15-rounders for police and could share magazines with Ruger's old P-series handguns. However, the guns just were not popular with civilians, and police interest in them started dying after the 1997 North Hollywood bank robbery when cops realized they needed AR-15 rifles in case more scumbags like those two men decided to use body armor in committing their crimes.

I really think Ruger has filled a couple niche's with this PC Carbine & the Ruger Security 9 pistol.
First, this carbine is great for some folks who like to shoot a semi-auto rifle, but aren't into the AR platform for whatever reason. A 9mm carbine that is affordable to shoot. Plus very simple to maintain. In addition to the fact that Glock magazines are the most afforable on the market. Now with the addition of the Security 9 pistol you can have a rifle and pistol that the mags are the same. The break-down concept with the pistol is really a total self-defense package. Plus this package is actually affordable. Both can be carried in a car or truck and even better for folks that R.V. around the country! Remember, most states reconize your R.V. is your home so the law (in most states), allows firearms in your home!
Very impressed with the carbine, and the new Security 9 "budget" pistol!
    Great video! Thank-you!

April 25, 2020. It’s still popular and right now, not very available. Cabela’s in Fort Worth got only 4 last week. I went in on Thursday and got mine. Saturday morning, they were out of stock. I’m not that great of a shot but at 15 yards, I was consistently shooting 5 shot groups where every round impact hole was touching at least one other hole. I love this weapon. I suspect it will be terrific to use for home defense and hog hunting.

For the first time ever, I took mine apart last night to give to it a thorough cleaning. Then I put it all back together. I did all of that whilst a You Tube video about how to do it played on my nearby computer. After completing the project, I did my customary function check that I do after cleaning a semi automatic firearm. All went well until I allowed the bolt to slam forward on an empty chamber. It was a sinking feeling when I heard some little part drop onto the floor. It was black and looked like a little rivet that had never been squashed. There was no screw head and no threads. It looked to be about a quarter of an inch long.
I took the carbine apart again and could find no place where it could have come from. Then I dug out the Ruger manual for it. It turned out to be part number 75 from the bolt assembly. There are two of them. One was still in place and the other was the one that hit the floor. I was taken aback to find that nothing save for gravity held them in their little countersunk holes. They could fall out when you reposition the assembly back into the receiver. So all you PC 9 shooters, you need to beware of those two little part 75's. I noticed too that all of the cylindrical pins were on the narrow end of the tolerance range and they could easily just fall out. You should watch for that too.
Overall I am quite pleased with the PC 9. .

Question, is it normal to see some sparks coming out of the ejection port ?
    Just wondering.

I keep a 92 carbine in .45 Colt on a rack behind my truck seat on the farm here. That just might be a new one for the truck. Will wait to see if there are any reported problems before buying.

I think rugger got a lot of things right with that rifle but i think they got the price point wrong. I would expect a rifle like that to be priced marginally more than a 10-22. not marginally less than a 9mm ar15. I have a feeling they might realize that in a few months or so.

Lucas Nelson go find a 9mm carbine that takes Glock magazines, and is a takedown for around $500. The only things and its price range are the Kel-Tec SUB-2000, and that new AR-15 ish thing. I think it's priced about right for what it is. Compared to $1,000 9mm ARS, or $800 just right carbines this ain't that bad.

Lucas Nelson I dissagree. I can get this for 529 right now I'm sure in a half a year it will be in the high 400s. Compared to most 9mm carbines and I've looked at all of them minus sub2000 which is hard to get and the highpoint carbine, most AR pattern 9mm are north of 800, some even over a 1000. Ruger did it right. Plus kudos to them for adding a Glock mag adapter there 10/22 match trigger, take down capability and threaded barrel for non restricted states. They did a great job.

The original Ruger PC Carbine from back in the 90's was to be primarily marketed to law enforcement agencies and supposed to be available with several variations of mag-wells (Glock, SIG and I think S&W) which never materialized. Sadly, that's what caused it's demise. Had they offered it to take Glock mags from the get-go they'd still be making it. The problem with Ruger is that their guns only run well with factory magazines which are too expensive for what they are, and the after-market Ruger mags work like crap. A very common problem with the Mini-14. The original PC Carbine was a solid little rifle that came in 9 mm and .40 S&W. We had a gunsmith that was converting the original one's for us to take Glock mags and he did very nice work but he stopped doing them. Now with an MSRP of I believe $650.00 you can get a Smith & Wesson M&P Sport II carbine in 5.56 mm and have a rifle that can do everything this carbine can and much more. I do commend Ruger for updating this fine little carbine but they should have done it years ago. The AR-15 carbine rules supreme.

Headed to buy one today. That said, wish Ruger had made the magazine release a bit more user friendly by positioning it nearer the trigger.

Nice review and run down on this great "retro" rifle, I've been wondering when Ruger would get around to making this gun again. It just makes so much sense for anyone with a 9mm pistol(s).
How many rounds have you put through the gun so far? Any function issues or other malfunctions? I'm considering this against a 9mm AR conversion.

I'll be buying one, along with a wood stock if someone gets around to making one for it.
Also picking up the new "old" .327 sp101 with 3" barrel. I've been waiting a couple years for Ruger to reintroduce a 3" .327 and they've delivered.

I was just notified you had them back in stock so I purchased one with the venom Vortex which you are currently out of stock. However my question is does the venom red dot co-witness with the Ruger iron sights? That my be nice to add in your video. I called Vortex and they did not know nor did your salesman. Looking forward to getting it. Thanks Jerry

A stainless version and adaptation for M&P mags would be great. At the very least stainless. I already have two 9mm carbines. I'd have get one if it was stainless.
