The England team that played Brazil in 1970 was VERY strong.
Even though I’m from the US I think Great Britain won WW2 to save the world. The Spitfire and Mosquito were the best aircraft and their radar and code breaking was very critical. Now I watch football in Brazil and love it.

Many people don't realize the role of Tostao in the setting up of the 4th goal; having run all the way back to help his defense, he regained possession before passing onto Codoaldo who beat 4 Italian players within his own half. While the ball floats to the left side for Jarzinho, Tostao sprints the length of the field to reach Pele and let him know that Carlos Alberto had run from the right back position to the outside of the Italian penalty box. Pele heard the message and held up the ball, just long enough for Carlos Alberto to be square' Pele's side-footed pass was to absolute perfection, as Carlos Alberto hit a rocket into the corner of the Italian net-4-1'what a brilliant team goal with a dream-like finish-football poetry!!

Brazil hit on the required combination in which Rivelino played a working attacking game from the left-wing, moving up when Brazil had the ball. With Wilson Piazza as libero, Pele dropping back a little, and right-winger Jairzinho, and centre-forward Tostao up front, the shape was 1-3-3½-2½ with Rivelino providing the two halves. And even in the heat and altitude of Mexico, Mario Zagalo stuck to his maxim - ‘attack at 85 miles an hour and when we lose the ball, sprint back to defend at 105 miles an hour.’

If you're young, you won't have had the honour of seeing Brazil 1970. I was a teen in England at the time and watching Brazil play was like seeing a team take football to a whole new level. For me, there'll never be a team as talented as Brazil 1970.

The 1970 World Cup was magical - first time in colour and you could feel the atmosphere through the TV! Then to end the tournament with "that Alberto goal" and watch Clodoaldo beat four Italian's was just fantastic.
As a brazilian it's really beautiful to see how people from countries we brazilians love (such as England, Italy, Argentina, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Poland...) still remember and praise the 1970 national team.

Bledi Preza first, i'm not brazillian.second, brazil teams in 1970 and 1982 were much more entertaining than the team of netherland in 1974. netherland team in 1974 mastered playing as team but they weren't as entertaining as brazil in 1982 and 1970, they lacked skillful players( with the exception of cruyff), individual dribbling, skills and tricks, magical touches, counter attacks, elegant style of playing and high quality of players such as those of 1982 and 1970, especially the later which as i think is a perfect team.

I personally believe the 1994-2002 side would have beaten any side in history. 3 finals in a row, a mixture of Brazilian flair with European steel as most players played in Europe. 98 would have been a victory if Ronaldo didn't get a fit the night before the final which ruined preparations. Their minds were elsewhere in that final.

Everyone calls Brazil's National Team "Seleção" and brazilians call all others national teams "Seleção" as well. Because a national team is a "selection" of the top players of that country, so we brazilians say "seleção alemã (german selection), seleção francesa, seleção italiana" etc...
But to refer to our own team we just say "the selection", and it is totally understandable to every brazilian.

Mi selección, Perú, tuvo la mala fortuna de encontrarse con el mejor Brasil de todas las épocas en cuartos de final. según Joao Havelange, Presidente de la FIFA fue el mejor partido del mundial, se jugó con una técnica increíble ya que los dos equipos tenían jugadores de buen pie. Al final el marcador termino 4-2 pero fue un partido magnífico.

Brazil kept their style of play for decades because they raise very well their young talents with great skill and flair from Pele to Neymar. Unlike the dutch that uses "Total Football" before because of their versatility and intelligence and became to a more disciplined team.

Brazil 1970 Absolute Best football team ever. This National team won all 1970 World Cup Qualifiers matches and all 1730 World Cup matches. This National team destroy Italy and the current World Cup Champions ( England). Pelé was good, but his team mates was fantastics.
